Battleplan #11: 7/21/16

It turns out that the patch introduced some bugs into the lore challenge subsystem so completing a match does not always work. GBX is aware there is a problem and is working on a fix. Details are here.

A patch that big was bound to have bugs. It was inevitable. As a matter of fact any software of any sufficient size will have bugs. The ONLY software written that can honestly claim to be bug free are those whose behavior can be modeled as mathematical proofs where the proofs are verified. So the real question is, is the developer responsive? So given GBX’s track record of weekly hot fixes and regular patches I’m confident this will be fixed shortly (i.e, a week or two).

Yea the best we can do is report whatever we find and let them sift through the data and hopefully find a fix for whatevers wrong. Like I’ve noticed clipping and weird frame lag in the new meltdown and capture maps. Haven’t played incursion enough (because in my opinion that new map has WAY too much going on to be a decent play) to find anything wrong with it other than its terrible set up.

Wait a minute… You mean to tell me that this Rath skin plays an ice cream themed jingle ??? How can I snek a peak B4 I purchasing it???

Is klere and benny getting nerfed next week or is it like time to stop playing this game?? Honestly they are taking all the fun away

Now that the 3 PvP maps and 2/5 of the new characters are done, can we maybe have 1/5 of the new Story Missions promised by the Season Pass…?

…Or at the VERY LEAST get some kind of acknowledgement that you guys are, like, ACTUALLY devoting a manpower of at least one employee to making them please? =.=

Is kleese a tank? It can get a lot of hp and shield for a territorial support character. Also you can set rift in ackward places… Like overgrow inside the box in the sniper perch.

Also benedict needs to lose its extra hp or its extra dmg. It can beat almost any squishy in no time and its extra hp let him run into your face with less risk.

It’s a 25% boost because it’s factoring in AFTER the 15% boost to core discharge.

boost base damage. level to 10. boost level 10 damage. magic.

I don’ think the kill X 25 times or win on map X is really about skill because we the players have no control over when we will face X. And if you are on PC where the number of active players are SIGNIFICANTLY lower than on console then the math of it (i.e., probability and set theory are the mathematics at work here and probability is driven by sample and populations sizes) is a legitimate problem. Additionally the game has a PvP mode and an advanced/hardcore PvE mode so there are enough skill based content in the game that it doesn’t necessarily need to also extend to the lore challenges. Plus most of the character specific legendaries SUCK and I was always annoyed by all the work I put in, just to get a mediocre legendary item. So I personally have no problem w/ the reductions.

All that said, I understand where you are coming from. As a fellow dire hard Borderlands fan I too appreciate a good grind and relish the challenge of things like OP8 and farming for weeks or months to get that perfect piece of gear that I probably won’t even use. But as you’ve already keenly observed this game is directed at a wider audience so us dire-hards gotta cut the n00bs some slack so we can continue to grow the Battleborn community/family.

Since this topic is ultimately about changes to the game I think it apropos to raise some quality of life issues that I hope will be addressed in a future update.

In broad strokes, this is about the delay injected into some character mechanics/animation:

  • Miko, switching between attacking and healing is not immediate. You can’t simply hold down the right mouse button after attacking to get healing going. You have to press the right mouse button multiple times to switch from the attack pose to the healing beam then start holding it down. The problem is because we don’t know when it will actually start precious seconds are sometimes wasted mashing the button after the transition from the attack pose to the healing pose that don’t result in healing. The solution I would like to see implemented is to remove the delay or don’t require button mashing to switch.

  • Ambra, switching between her secondary attack and her primary attack. It’s the same problem as Miko except the buttons are reversed.

  • Shane & Aurox, switching between primary and secondary attacks. Sometimes it works w/o button mashing but other times it does not.

  • Mellka, the delay between the end of her Claw Lunge attack and her primary or secondary attack. What makes this one particularly jarring is the fact that she has a helix option called Feral Strike @ lvl 9 that increases her melee attack speed following Claw Lunge but you can’t go immediately/smoothly from Claw Lunge to melee because of the delay.

  • Reyna, her reload animation will be visibly complete but the gun will not actually be reloaded if you begin firing your plasma cannon in the last frame of the reload animation. So you get the audio cue that the gun is reloaded but it’s not.

I’m still waiting for characters that got nerfed to the ground to become playable again. Haven’t even felt like touching Battleborn for months now. I was so hyped for the game before it even came out too, but now kind of wishing I spent that money on Overwatch to be honest. At least characters there don’t become unplayable and the mistake of doing such with Battleborn just never seems to get corrected.

Lol tell me which battleborn is unplayable?

Maybe you dont know how to use it…

If you want me to be honest both are great games but for me personally I enjoy BB WAY more than OW, Love the characters in OW but the character progression/gear/one-liners/taunts in BB makes all the difference for me.

Just bought it and… nothing special, i was hoping for something special as for shayne and rath and as they have an higher price… but not for ambra (or really well hidden)
I’m disapointed -__-

So, I have 2 questions:

  1. Will I get a second Hero Key for Pendles? (I just want to make sure)

  2. If so, will I get it once he enters early access?

(Yes, I do own the season pass.)

So, you’ll get a Hero Key to unlock Pendles, but it won’t be redeemed when early access ends. If you were to use it on a character whom you haven’t yet unlocked naturally (Ghalt for example), you would be refunded the key at the point you naturally unlock that character. Does that make sense?

JoeKGBX Could you clarify if ambra outfit has any especial trait? I feel disapointed right now :s (i think is over priced)
