Um, yes, but what does that have to do with boosters? They don’t cause you to spend less time with the game. If you’re comparing a new player to someone who has played the game longer than of course the player is going to have less experience no matter what he/she does, with or without boosters. I’m not seeing your point here.
How about you fix the servers…
@JoeKGBX Can you tell me how Boosters time works? Like if I buy one I start with 24 hours. So it’s almost 12pm EST now, if I buy one does it expire at exactly this time 12pm EST tomorrow?
Or does it only decay during specific actions like during gameplay, matchmaking, sitting in lobby? But not get wasted when I have the game shutdown and not connected?
It also sucks when you’re playing with a person who doesn’t have it. I play with a guy who likes to go in and change his title, loadouts, or sell gear every match. So if he’s leader I have to wait, if I’m leader he expects me to wait.
The booster is on a 24 hour timer. Once you buy one, a timer appears.
Yes but it doesn’t instantly start. I bought one because I had 100 platinum left and the entire time I was in my command menu it essentially stayed at 23:59:59 the entire time.
Must be a bug then, mines goes down by the minute and hour.
well yeah mine does too. I was just using that because I was in my command menu for well over a minute and it was still 23:59. So I have to assume the seconds hadn’t moved either.
The problem is that anyone would want to. The assumption that people are prepared to pay real money to not play part of your game is an admission of failure.
Other games have boosters as well. I’m guessing you think League of Legends is a failure too because they have boosters.
I don’t follow. They still play the game, they’re paying not to grind. They’re paying for the mutations and maybe the taunts/skins. So what?
LoL is F2P, battleborn was full price at release. Expecting me to spent more money in the game after I spent 80$ (season pass) for it, is insulting. They should have given a way to earn it in game and also give all players a chunk of platinum when they added it, only to make it acceptable.
Not anyone. I’m happy with current XP rate, I’m able to rank up a hero to lvl 12 in 10-11 missions, that’s fast.
Since you haven’t replied yet, I’ll go ahead and apologize for my snide response. I was in a bad mood.
Overwatch does something very similar with its loot boxes, and it is a successful full price game. Just because they ask for money doesn’t mean the game is a failure. You can make your argument for the price of the skins since you can’t acquire them ingame and they’ve been getting more expensive without a jump in quality. If you still feel the same way then I suppose we’ll have to accept that we have different opinions and move on.
You don’t seem to understand the frustration of microtransactions, especially when this current game is struggling.
F2P games do whatever it takes to take your money. Some just do it better than others. When you play a F2P, you’re essentially agreed to sign up for a game of psychological warfare where your mental fortitude is being tested. What’s the test, you ask? Obviously how tightly you hold onto your wallet.
Battleborn and OW costs money to play, and now they are looking for more ways to reach into my wallet without offering me any entertainment? I see it as an attempt to take more money from their supporters by giving the least amount of effort.
OW can get away with anything, since they have a large enough fraction of zealots who would forgive them regardless of how badly they (Activision) take advantage of their fanbase. Battleborn is by no means a failure as a game, but it certainly doesn’t have the luxury of a populated fanbase. Because of such a smaller community/supporters, Battleborn can’t afford to implement stuff that would further alienate/agitate whatever supporters they have left.
Do you think that GBX, mostly 2K, don’t want us to buy their boosters? Of course they do, they want as much cash as possible without any work and effort. Any game with microtransactions forces game designs, mechanically or otherwise, to entice and direct players to use them. I already made an example in an earlier post where GBX might just reduce XP gains to the point where we must buy these boosters in order to feel any hint of progress.
What happens then when they reduce credits too?
Or jack up costs of Loot Packs.
Or reduce drop rates, so you gotta buy drop rate boosters in order to start getting somewhat decent loot.
Do you start seeing where I’m going with this? Do you now have a better understanding why there are still a lot of people who dislike microtransactions? Do you also realize that if there is an opportunity for any company of any profession to take your money when they don’t need to offer you a service or product, they will eagerly do it? If anyone in this world would just walk up to me and give me money when I’ve done nothing, I would gladly take it, because I suddenly have people I could take advantage of and I didn’t even need to put in any work at all.
To conclude, these boosters would not help with the ongoing struggles of Battleborn. I’m very disappointed at how these boosters have taken a higher priority compared to player retention and interest on the PC front.
I do understand the frustration of microtransactions. I don’t like what they’re doing with the skins and think it’s pretty scummy for them to raise the prices of skins like they have.
I’ll just leave it at that.
Edit: And the boosters have not taken higher priority than player retention. Perhaps you’ve seen some of the info our fine forum members have found concerning the new patch which could possibly make the game much better. They have separate teams doing different jobs at the same time. I don’t think it would be a good idea if they tried to make the marketing team do a balance designer’s job.
I will keep my cynicism high until I see some relevant results. Results that actually make my experience more fun than before.
When I see more MT skins and boosters and other convoluted nonsense that I wouldn’t pay any more of my real money for every update, I don’t have a good reason to maintain a steady flow of optimism.
Of course, not everything is all bad. Like I said before, the game is struggling. Struggling, I repeat. At this point, any good decision is considered expected, and the bad ones could potentially cripple it.
That’s how I see it. You’re more than free to take on a more relaxed stance.
I do think at this point 2K should just take a step back for a little while and let GBX do their job.
Im starting to get frustrated with this attitude of “I payed full price and season pass for everything and deserves everything they produce” you know what? You don’t!! You payed for the game before updates and fixes and need to wait one year to get your dlc so grow up.
If you feel like you should get everything for free pay a monthly fee oky? Just like final fantasy a realmente reborn! I bought the game, got 1 month for free and pay a fee to keep playing and get everything for free.
Everything extra they add that dosent affect you directly is a way to say hey
we dont charge a monthly fee but you can buy anything and support our work if you like.
Some skins are ugly and overpriced and im not forced to buy them, god they even listen to our complains and probably are going to do something about it.
Every update is time and money the invest to make me have fun, so yes i payed 80 dollars like you and got everything they promised (and more) and still have like 9 months to give me my dlc.
The game has its flaws but every game does and some dont even have updates at all!!
Sorry if i ofend anyone.
Have a good day.
There’s a poll regarding the boosters. I’d encourage anyone with an opinion in the matter (regardless what that opinion is) to take a second or two and vote:
