Hey everyone! This week, we’ve got a little somethin’ for you. And by “a little somethin’”, we mean an entirely new - and entirely free - Competitive PvP mode!
That’s right! Supercharge is here! If you tuned in to our Supercharge livestream on Tuesday, you got to see this brand new mode in action, but if you missed out, here’s the skinny:
Supercharge is a new Competitive Multiplayer mode, accessible by veterans and Free Trial players alike. In Supercharge, two teams of three players face off in a high-intensity mash-up of the Meltdown and Capture modes.
The objective for each team is to escort their respective minions into their corresponding incinerator (to earn appeasement points from MINREC, of course), while simultaneously fighting to control a single Supercharge capture point. Taking control of the capture point “supercharges” that team’s minions, making them significantly more difficult to kill.
“Supercharge is a fast paced mode that gets you right in the middle of action in no time”, says level artist and Supercharge expert Brad Sierzega, “With teams only being comprised of 3 players each, it’s interesting to see what role each player will choose when there are more possible jobs than available players. Usually for every action you take or progress you make, you need to give something up. This is what keeps the tide of battle constantly shifting. And with such a large amount of shards available, players can gear out their Heroes in any way they want. It’s an exciting mode that keeps players on their feet, and one that anyone can enjoy.”
Supercharge mode will begin rolling out today at 12pm PT/2pm ET, so get your squad together and have at it!
If you’d like some hot tips, tricks, and more info on Supercharge, check out the official announcement post.
Since the launch of the Free Trial, our devs have been hard at work pushing out Hot Fixes where they’re needed. To see the Hot Fixes we’ve rolled out since the last Battleplan, see here and here.
As noted above, we’re very excited to introduce Supercharge today! As Supercharge is a 3v3 mode, we’re making some adjustments to the queues in order to accommodate it. We’ve gathered a lot of feedback and after careful review thereof alongside taking a look at the data, we’re going to be making the following changes this week;
- Introducing Mini Match (3v3) - This is a mix of all modes featuring Supercharge
- Versus Draft will no longer be part of the normal list.
- We’re reducing the number of available queues for Novice players, Novice Incursion and Novice Quick Match have been combined.
In other news, a couple additions to the in-game marketplace are being rolled out today:
- Three extra bank slots, and five extra loadout slots will be available for purchase in the in-game Marketplace.
These changes will begin rolling out today at 12pm PT/3pm ET, so be sure to keep an eye out!
Last Friday, Creative Director Randy Varnell (aka @jythri) loaded up on Gummi Bears and sat down to answer your burning questions in the latest Battleborn Discord AMA!
Organized by @Tokesy97, @Kaleidodemon, and a host of other awesome folks, the AMA was a resounding success. Randy answered over 60 of your pre-asked lore, mode, patch, and balance questions, before typing out multiple rapid-fire responses to questions asked on the spot! It was a sight to behold, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the curiosity and cooperation of the Battleborn community.
Thank you to everyone who asked questions, and a special thanks to @Tokesy97, @Kaleidodemon, @LucFal, @Larssya, @NatsumeRyu, @Krewlrain, @Snekvaprime, @GeneralPandacat, @Xmngr, @Wingsday, @Polarjuggalo, the Discord organizers, and of course, our own @jythri!
In the last Battleplan, we held off on Lore so that it didn’t get lost in the shuffle of the Battleborn Free Trial. This week, however, we’re sharing some new Lore straight from the brilliant brains of our Loremasters!
Here’s a snippet:
Darkspace Operations, Part 7
“Navigator Gustav, Captain Dredge requests your presence on the bridge. Follow the illuminated path. Deviation will result in termination.”
The message seemed to echo endlessly throughout the ship, its hollow monotony somehow resonating above the thunderous firing of the stormdrive.
The rest of the crew’s eyes fixed on Gustav.
“Alias: Shayne. Race: Human. Age: Unknown. Known Affiliates: Rogues …”
“What do you think, captain?”
Shayne gestured as a strip of spectral waylight flickered on, “You heard the guy: his ship, his rules. Get going.”
Gustav nodded, then stood slowly, feeling the wall for balance.
He took a few tentative steps, then turned around, “Maven, he doesn’t eat people or anything like that, does he?”
