Battleplan #7: 6/23/16

The plan as I understand it is to reward those who stay, rather than punish those who leave.

They are considering not giving any credits and xp to those who leaves. And they are considering giving more credits and more xp to those who requeue and complete multiple matches.

So what happens when one person drops out during character select and seeing how I don’t want to play an uneven match right off the bat, I leave as well which cancels the match for the better. Is that worthy of someone reporting me?

Will it go against my “record”? Will it cause penalties to my next games?

Is it bad I say I hope so. While many down games suck they make you play more strategically I have won my last 4 man down games now that won’t always be the case but oh the trash talk. People hate being spanked man down had a 5 man pre-made against me a buddy and two randoms I Phoebe’d he miko’d then we had a Mike and Montana I harassed everyone with the satanic blink of Douche Nozzleness. After we won I sent gg to all of them and I got accused of try harding against a pre-made :). Only appropriate response QQMOARPLZ Your Tears Fuel Me.

Lol.

I’ve won some great games 4v5 but I still try to avoid going into a game 4v5.

Im all for finishing a match when someone drops out. I’ve won and almost won marches where someone dropped out.

But if im going into a game 4v5 it’s different. I’d rather try again with matchmaking. That way it’s fair for the enemy and my teammates.

Im sure some people with matchmaking server issues would agree and others will say “been waiting this long, screw it lets play”. It’s annoying going in 4v5 when you’ve been waiting for a 5v5. Same thing on PvE, I will drop out if everyone else does because I want a full or at least one other player for the mission, hence doing public PvE queue lol will I get penalized for leaving a mission that everyone else already left?

Sure 4v5 wins are possible, but only if the team with a man advantage has a couple terrible players, which would mean that the matchmaking put the teams together horribly.

It would be ridiculous to be punished in this scenario. It is a 5v5 gametype. The game shouldn’t even start if one player leaves. Some people may be happy just to be playing, but others want to actually play the game in the intended environment, without a handicap from the start.

That’s fine then quit I prefer to fight it out also must they be horrible most games are decided by 2 players on a team the harasser and the support if they can suppress and sustain the pusher has no issues. I’m sorry but you are the type of teammate I prefer not to have you give up too easy.

How is it giving up too easy?

If someone leaves after the game has started then I play it out. You never know. However, starting the game missing one person has ended up with others leaving after the game has started because the first person left. If they had left beforehand then I would’ve been able to simply restart matchmaking and go about my business in a full match up (hopefully).

I have fun playing after someone drops out post match start, usually lol, but when you’re going into a game 4v5 it really bums your team out.

I agree with @zenrage that the match shouldn’t start with 4v5. It should pull you out and back into queue immediately or it should pop up a message saying “hey we’re searching for a replacement”. Something.

I don’t feel as though this makes me give up too easily. I stated I stick with it when people leave afterwards but i feel like it’ll do us all well to have an even start. I never vote for surrender.

Yeah I’ve gone into games 4v5 and done well or won but I’d still prefer not to start games lopsided. I just think getting punished for cancelling out the match after one teammate leaves is unnecessary

Nah it just means more negative votes I already report them to Microsoft which does more then most in game reports.

devs can you add a FOV slider to the ps4 version in the next update?

The real solution is to fix how lobbies work.

If you find 10 people, and one of them drops, you shouldn’t break down the entire lobby just to find 5v5 again.

Find 10 people for 5v5. Keep the lobby alive until after character selection starts (20 seconds in?)
If someone bails, go back to the lobby with 9 people in it and look for one more. repeat as needed.

How to address the symptom, though:
We need something for games that start off 4v5. Some kind of vote for surrender, the loss doesn’t count, permanent XL Elite bot, ANYTHING other than what we currently have.

The funniest (and worst) solution:
Give the remaining players extra health, shield, and regen for each player missing.
Montana drops out? The other four split his 3k health and 250 shield.
All but one person drops out? They’re now a mini raid boss with 10k health, 1200 shield, and 45 regen or whatever.

Don’t act like it wouldn’t be funny.

Easy fix:

Ambra Bot.

If someone leaves, Ambra Bot.
Another person leaves on the same team, Oscar Mike bot.

Everyone wins.

Just bot the person they were using

Doesn’t work if someone leaves the character select before choosing a character.

I have mentioned before that I like the bot replacement. However, with the current character AI issues in private matches some think it would be dangerous to have the bots added as replacements (because their AI is… stupid)

I still would rather have a bot replacement instead of being down one. Even as the bots are now (why are you just standing there Phoebe??? Lol).

As far as a permanent solution goes I would definitely stand with the bot addition. Once they work the AI bugs out. Or where they queue 10 players and then separate teams and if anyone leaves they replace them with new players.

Then again, if they make the bots average players or any good then some people may think it’s an unfair advantage for the opposing team.

It’s about that time for a new issue of battleborn! Perhaps this can be part of next week’s plan.

I edited this one, Notice the lines correspond with the respective colors. Hope you like it @JoeKGBX

Simpler change would be to either let us rename load-outs, or assign a favorite load-out to a character. Having to remember that Toby uses load-out 3 is a PITA.

You can already rename loadouts. Highlight the loadout and there’s an option at the bottom of the screen to do so (button/key press dependent on platform used).

Well slap my ass and call me charlie… didn’t know that.

Don’t feel bad. At one point, after playing almost 160 hours (not including beta gameplay) I finally realized that the map name was on the top right of the character select screen. So many times I’d miss what map won and had to ask; someone finally said, “It’s right there. Top right.” Felt like a dumbass.
