Before Battleborn, there was

Continuing the discussion from About the Battleborn category:

with all the comparisons of new hero shooters to team fortress 2, it appears battleborn’s roots are historically true to this belief. i like the sci-fi twist gearbox has applied to the project, and the suspense of disbelief the fantasy affords.

just thought it was interesting the evolution of furious 4, and the direction its collaborators took the original idea. ubisoft’s the great war:valiant hearts is what i assume to be their expression furious 4.

both companies have seemingly taken a rated R idea and made it PG(13). i wonder what caused the split between ubisoft and gearbox (creative differences? change of vision? ) in hoping to better understand the evolution of battleborn…

Well, it makes me happy and sad at the same time. Maybe as a ‘Brothers In Arms’ related game Furious 4 won’t cut off, but as a black action-comedy based on WW2 (such as Inglourious Basterds), it could be an amazing game with a fine concept. All in all, WE NEED a new Brothers In Arms game, it’s been a long time…
I heard rumors about licensees issues between Ubisoft, Gearbox and the franchise itself, so maybe that was the reason to the cancellation.
Battleborn for that matter looks really really cool. The blending genres part of the game will bring alot of Comp . players to the Battleborn scene, and I’m carrying hope that the campaign will be as amazing as they are marketing it.

if you trust wikipedia then brothers in arms, duke nukem, and borderlands are all part of gearbox’s future agenda. ive never played brothers in arms, so it would be the first for me

Another Duke Nukem?

So what, another decade or two?

Randy said many times before he didn’t acquire Duke Nukem just to experience Duke Nukem Forever.
I know there is another IP on the progress (Not BL3, or BB, or HW, new original IP), and they are probably working on BL3 by the time we speak. The other projects are probably more like a mere concept, I dont think they can handle with so many projects at the same time, and I don’t think they want to pass on their biggest IP’s, so that’s intresting to see… probably the new studio at quebec will help them somehow.

Brothers In Arms is a blast, one of the best WW2 games ever made (along side with COD 5).

Well, they can outsource any of the games.
They could use Interceptor Entertainment to make a new Duke Nukem game, if that whole thing about who owns Duke this-n-that didnt spoil their relationship.
Or, they could have hired a new studio, or different studio, and they are just watching over them.
