Me and my husband will be starting this today. What tips do you offer
He going to be Montana and I’m going to be Ambra
Will this partnership be good enough as I’ve been reading how hard the campaign is.

except for maybe The Saboteur the Campaign isn’t that hard
you just need to figure out how to split up the best at some points, that may take several tries
then you also have to change characters for some missions, Rath f.e. is good for killing bosses and surviving waves, but he is bad for excort missions
but i’m sure you will get the trick if you don’t give up after failing a few times
Thanks for tips
me and a friend yesterday did every mission, except The Saboteur on advanced difficulty and it wasn’t that hard
like i said you have to figure out where to stand, the best is on of you always stand with the Cores (if you have to protect the cores) and the other one goes for the enemies that are wide range attacking
and if you are playing the excort mission one of you stays woth the Sentry and the other one goes forward and attacks the enemies right where they spawn
then again turrets and drones are really important, build as much as you can when protecting something, they really help a lot
then if you are about to get your first loadout you might take your time, because there are several ways you can build a loadout so they are good to use for different classes, if you play montana for example it would be good to take gear that further increases his resistance to damage or increase his health, then if you play as a support, then it would be good to aim for a loadout that reduces ability recharge or the costs for turrets
hope that helps a bit
If you playing pvp the quick melee button pushes melee character back no one seems to use this its circle on ps4 dont know what itis on other.
Also the little sharps dont need to be shoot you can just walk though them not a big point but if you stop to shoot every shard it can add up and less time spent fighting.
Sorry for going off topic but for some reason i cant make topics in the gearbox forums. Need help please.
Gonna have to unlock Ambra which might take some grinding. Montana’s a good way to go, it’s always a good idea to have a ranged player. Don’t rush through levels your first time through, take some time to look at the helix for the character you wanna play, there’s a lot to be found that you don’t want to overlook while worrying about the timer. You don’t have to buy every turret you come across but every now and then it’s helpful to have one up and running.
I heard Ambra is OP. I tried her and I’m not sure how her healing mechanics work.
Anyway, I believe unlocking her early requires winning 5 matches with a Jennerit character, if I’m remembering correctly. Which, at the beginning, it means playing Rath (and eventually you can switch to Caldarius when you reach and complete his mission).
As for random tips for the campaign:
Generally speaking, with Ambra, you have three choices in terms of how you “build” her.
The Damager:
-Upgrade Sunspot damage when possible.
-Upgrade Sunspot health when possible.
-Make Solar Wind as damaging as possible.
-Reduce cooldowns as often as you can.
-Increase your lifesteal (Blood Drive helix
-Opt for offensive Flame Shield passive
The Healer:
-Increase Sunspot range AND healing.
-Opt for Ceremonial Sacrifice (helix).
-Opt for pushing Solar Wind.
-Opt for movement speed when Flame Shield is active.
-Lower Sunspot’s cooldown (crucial!).
The Off-Healer, Off-Damager:
This one’s special. You’ll rely more on yourself for this one. Build for survivability and damage only. If they conflict via helix (in the same level of the helix), my vote is for survivability. Montana can handle himself as long as he doesn’t charge headfirst into a pack of Brutes or suicide minions. If he does, use your Sunspot to reduce the resulting loas of health. Remember that Ambra is NOT a tank, and you should be fine.
Hope this helps!
Montana’s a pretty straight forward character to play. Keep your minigun spinning with your secondary, try not to get in your teamates way, charge if you need a breather. He’s listed as advanced because he’s surprisingly versatile for a big guy with a minigun, and there are several, noticibly different ways to play him. Allow me to give you a level by level rundown.
Level 1 gives you a choice of a longer dash, or higher accuracy during Hailstorm. My preference is the accuracy, since it turns Monty’s minigun into a freeze/heatray, giving him some much needed range.
Level 2 gives you a choice between bouncing people up in the air after Lumberjack dash instead of knocking them back, or knocking them back farther, instead. I prefer the knock up, since it acts as a pseudo-stun, and leaves enemies open for your teamates. There’s a mutation here, but I’m not going to get into those. I’m assuming that by the time you’ve earned one or two, you’ll be comfortable enough with the character to experiment on your own.
Level 3 isn’t really a choice. You have +360 Max Health, or removing the minigun’s spin up time. Take the health. Babying you secondary attack eliminates the need for the other choice entirely.
Level 4 is where you really decide how you’ll play Montana, and essentially decides two other levels for you. You can either cause Hailstorm to reduce the minigun’s heat with each shot, or turn Hailstorm into Firestorm, giving it a burn effect, but increasing how much heat it generates.
This level gets a second paragraph, because it’s a big one. If you want to be more tanky, take the cool down. If you want to do more damage, take fire. An important thing to remember is that Firestorm no longer slows enemies, so it is a pure damage route.
Level 5 is where you can gimp yourself if you’re not paying attention. You decide if you want to regenerate health the cooler your gun is, or the hotter your gun is. If you took Firestorm, take the hotter option. If not, take the other.
Level 6 gives you a choice of +240 shield strength, or removing the minigun’s overheating, at the cost of hurting you. Removing the overheating may sound like a bum deal, but if you took Firestorm, and are regenerating health when your gun is hot, you’ll be able to take a large portion of that damage. If you took the cooling effect at level 4, take the shields. Your gun won’t be overheating much anyway.
Level 7 gives you more dash damage when Hailstorm is active, or a longer Hailstorm duration. I personally prefer the duration, but if you find you like dashing you can take the other. Just remember it only works during Hailstorm’s duration.
Level 8 let’s you decide if between shortening Lumberjack Dash’s cool down, or increasing it’s damage. This one is up to personal preference, since I think mathematically it evens out nicely.
Level 9 goes back to your decision at level 4, as it actually affects one of the choices. One choice doubles the slowdown effect OR burn time of Hailstorm, and the other gives you a flat %14 damage boost when Hailstorm is active. This one is again up to preference, but personally I use the damage the most. Some mutations make the former choice much more appealing, but again, you’ll get to those later.
Level 10 is the only one that affects Malformation, Montana’s ultimate skill, and you’ll find that stays true for all characters. The first choice causes you to explode at the end of it, and the second causes enemy fire to bounce back at them. This one is decided not by what you want to do, but what the enemies are doing to you. If you’re facing a lot of melee enemies, take the former. If you’re facing a lot of gunfire, take the later.
And there you have it. Montana is, again, much much more than his gun suggests, and his mutations can really shake up his play style once you unlock them. Again, keep in mind not to block your teammate’s shots, and keep the gun spinnin’, and you’ll be doing mighty fine.
Thanks for the replies, great tips and explanation of characters
On mission 3 and I’ve been MIko with Montana and we struggled on the waves
Might have to change from Miko to Rath to help with the waves
If you’re having issues with the waves, I’d suggest using Oscar Mike. His grenade ability can take out a decent group of enemies at a time while you are still at range to engage other enemies. Also, make sure to set up all the turrets and traps you can. They make everything so much easier as minions will usually aggro on them first (making it even easier to have them clustered for Oscar Mike’s grenade).
Ability damage, extra heal power and shortened cooldown/shard generation/reduced building cost are ideal choices for ambra gear. Just be aware she needs to be unlocked first. Just win 5 matches as rath (doesn’t matter if it’s campaign or pvp). Just 5 wins as a jenerate (misspelled?) character.
You get access to gear by command level 3. You also get a legendary piece of gear for ambra by doing her lore challenges. Think it auto generates heat on her spear so you can spend less time In melee range.
Thanks
We have done it with Montana and Rath, I swapped Miko for Rath and it was much easier
Excellent. I wasn’t sure why you were not able to deal with the waves so I went for a safe answer to most situations. Glad Rath worked out for you! Love that character.
