It won’t help anything, but it’s the reality of the situation. I was like that, I had faster reflexes and was very hyped when I no-scoped someone or BXRd them. I had montages and loved Halo to no end. Part of why it was so great is and always will be the simplicity of the first games, they weren’t overly complicated.
The depth of gameplay came from individual skill in a teamwork environment, much like OW. It was similar when I played TF.
Over the years, though, I’ve changed my habits and gradually moved toward enjoying beating people off of a mix of individual skill and out-thinking them. It may come off as snarky, but, seriously, there is less depth to OW. “More depth” doesn’t necessarily translate into “better game” tho so that’s a moot point. To a lot of OW fans, that’s what makes it “better”: Simpler interface. Simpler learning curves to each character (which is what lets you swap on the fly so quickly) simpler abilities and mechanics, simpler graphics, which let you process what’s going on faster, simpler game-mode objectives. It’s all there to boil the game down to the aspect that the players want in it, which is point and click, fast-paced shooter action.
It’s like an iPhone, the average consumer does not care that an Android can do more, they want it to just be simple and work. I’m not going to tell them that android is better, because to them it’s not, but android certainly has more features. In fact, I think that’s a pretty spot on analogy, OW is an iPhone and BB is an Android.
COD, however, was really only meant as a fast example, just meant the more frenetic, short matches, although I do see a lot of similarities in the crowd attracted to the two, aiming skill is downplayed for proper positioning and getting your abilities off first, I feel like if I spray my weapons in their general direction, they always hit, and a lot of the time I don’t feel like I earned my head-shot kills (much like in COD) and they seem to attract a similar crowd. All of my “COD” friends are certainly playing OW now at least.
As for your first paragraph, clearly you’re seeing something in the game that I don’t see or value, I don’t believe I’ve ever felt out of place in a game due to poor camera weight or hit feedback. To be honest they sound like gibberish to me, doesn’t mean they’re not important to you, I’ve just never noticed any issues with weapon philosophy.
