And that is precisely what I talked about in my first post in this thread. This was supposed to be how a community can influence some notion, but nope, regardless of the original notion, it had to go to gameplay comparisons and stuff… But I think this is a great showcase of what the original post is about. At least something.
That said, I think the moderation should be more strict. And more cautious. Although it sounds paradoxical.

I agree that we’ve had plenty of bad posts relating to OW, both in support of it and knocking it. I’ve mentioned in another thread how besides marketing, there’s very little in common with BB and that makes me question why all the aggro.
This forum does support and thrive upon open discussion, limited by some simple rules based around good etiquette and manners, and forum functionality (avoiding off-topic, duplicate threads, etc) and I’m quite proud of the gearbox community as a whole. As far as the forum community goes, we have a very active mod team, and a robust flag system. When people ignore this structure is when things go wrong.
It’s great that people are passionate about games. It bothers me when than passion becomes hostility towards others who don’t share the same opinion, even though they may be equally- if differently- passionate. We’re all gamers. Why fight over what basically comes down to personal preferences? If everyone played the same game the industry would shut down. There’s no ‘right’ (or ‘wrong’) way to spend one’s leisure time. Just whatever is fun for each individual…
I think you’re getting upset about objective things I’m mentioning about OW and taking them personally… you should probably not do that, it’s quite silly.
I don’t see the reasons to attack me, but sure, if you feel the need to question my “credentials” as a shooter player go right ahead… but just so you know, I’m a 30+ year-old disabled vet. Most of my free time is spent playing video games, and most of that time is spent playing shooters. I’d assure you, although I doubt you’ll believe me, that I’ve spent quite a bit of time, probably more than most, playing every shooter I can get my hands on, not just the “Big titles” but they’re the easiest ones to mention during discussion because everyone has played them at some point in time.
And who said I have no desire to participate in the activity? As I mentioned, I actually like parts of OW, and I’ll pick it up when it’s cheaper. I certainly see it’s appeal. I know why people buy iPhones, because they’re sleek and simple… doesn’t mean that I want to get rid of my Android.
lol, and no, you KNOW I didn’t spend 100 hours on OW, I don’t own it, I just played it for the week it was in beta… a few hours every night. And I beg to differ, I certainly don’t need to play more than the time I spent on the game to understand what it’s about, it’s really not that deep, pick/counter pick is the “deepest” aspect of the game, and you can get a rough understanding of that in just a few days, especially when you’re playing with people who do have hundreds of hours spent in the game since Alpha.
You’re listening to the points that I’m praising about the game… the points every reviewer has praised about the game, and taking them as insults. That really is rather silly. No need to get up in arms, OW is the clean, simple, polished shooter. That’s what it is. BB is the dirty, deeper, less polished, has some issues, first person/Moba hybrid game thing.
I don’t care about twitchy super-polished games as much as I used to, I like in-depth games that do weird, new things (like making an FP Moba) I certainly am not getting butt-hurt that you prefer the other. Don’t take things so personally, you’ll be much happier.

How could I know that? I played ~1000 hours of OW. The game wasn’t created in ten minutes and voila.

Sorry, those are the weirdest praises I’ve ever heard then. It’s like “this pop song is catchy and more power to it, I am just more of a Bach person” - this isn’t the implication of how the pop song is good, it’s the implication that maybe the author knows how to engage the masses with his populistic product, while Bach is objectively better.

I said that I am under impression that you played modern shooters because of how you analyze and present Overwatch. YOU took it as an insult. Then proceeded to throw the notion of being insulted onto me.
My notion of you being invested in modern shooters was NOT condescending, it was observational. I didn’t mean to present it as something bad, but as something tangential to evaluating OW. Because you yourself said that bunch of things I’ve mentioned don’t mean much to you. But whatever.
And yes, I am pretty frustrated, because every god damn time I go here, there’s some offtopic thing about OW being “xyz”. Which would be fine if it was to draw a point - for example, obviously, this thread will have a lot of overwatch in it because it’s inherently tied to it, but not in the gameplay comparison sense, but rather in the sense of approach of various communities to their respective games and how they influence others etc.
But no, every single topic that has overwatch in it (which isn’t a sin by itself) has to go into the direction whether TTK is somethingsomething and why it’s better in ow/bb compared to other.

I thought long about hosting a fancreation and fanart-contest on the Battleborn-group on deviantArt (or at my profile there, my BB-group is still so small -.-) and I wondered if the forum-rules allow that I might advertise this contest here @Psychichazard ?
At best I´d like to host it on this forums itself, but I´m not sure if GBX would tolerate that…
Just to sum it up:
I wanted to put up 3 of my BB-fancafts & maybe the official “5 figure collection” as prices for the most badass fancreations & ideas that enter the contest.
Of course I´d need to search some people for a jury first, don´t wanna judge entries alone. Would be even better if GBX-devs themselves be the jury, but thats just a fangirls fantasy^^
Just wanted to do something positive & productive, like @wisecarver ´s idea to built lifesize Battleborn figures

I agree with a lot of what you’ve written here though, especially your praise for OW’s differences to BB. If OW didn’t offer a more casual pick up and play style I wouldn’t be interested in it. That’s it’s selling point (imo) in opposition of BB. You can play a few quick games and carry on with life. BB requires a decent chunk of dedicated time and preparation with gear loadouts and helix choices. BB is more rewarding long term, OW is more rewarding short term. Nothing wrong with that at all. Like you, I’ll probably pick up OW when the price drops to match what I’m willing to pay for the experience it offers me.

Though I´ve no interest in OW I somehow love this idea! 
It has such a sarcastic setting, considering most of Tobys taunts are in this “you did okay, don´t be sad”-manner^^
All the while “toby’s rig” is just a hearthstone card. which is played by solid snake. We need to go deeper.
Also, he would have to play as d.va or refund.
