Benedict - Glide button

While playing a ton of Benedict during the beta I could not help but find it irritating that his glide ability was bound to the “secondary attack” i.e. the right mouse button …

It isn´t really bothering me in slower enounters and at somewhat longer rangers but at point blank range, against fast enemies when quick aiming is key it is does feel awkward imo if you have to press down the right mouse button while aiming your rockets. It´s basically like ADSing on the straightforward shooter characters which you don´t usually do either at very short ranges.

I thought about something like “hold spacebar to glide” but I´m not sure if it would actually work out better … maybe holding right mouse button is already the best way to do it if you don´t wanna switch key bindings between different characters.

What do you guys think?

I have 0 problems with it.
Holding RMB doesn’t hinder you in any way, it’s even better than Spacebar, so… i don’t even see the problem?

Well to me aiming accurately with the mouse and then tapping lmb feels smoother while I do not have to press down on the rmb … as I said you will most likely hipfire instead of ADS in close quaters too …

You don´t really use your left hand in midair glide for anything but the ocassional hawkeye or whatever the “E” is called so I don´t see why holding down spacebar would be worse? Guess it would interfere with his double/tripple jump ability :confused:

You’re not alone. I intuitively held down the jump button, expecting it to trigger the glide. I agree that it feels wrong to have to press RMB, but you wouldn’t be able to do “glide, stop gliding, glide” with it bound to spacebar (you would double jump instead).

I found myself holding the jump button often only to realize my mistake and then hold R2 on ps4. Its just a natural thing to hold jump to glide.

Nice to see that I´m not the only one feeling this!

Same thing here when I first played the bird … however there´s no one to blame but myself as the helix/skill screen actually tells you the glide controls iirc … ^.^

Yeah … I thought about that. Guess there´s no better way of gliding unless you would want to adjust key bindings anytime you switch hero …

i would like to see it as holding down jump enables glide also.

also on topic sort of. is activating hawkeye stops the glide but you can activate hawkeye and then jump and glide you can glide.

like to see activating hawkeye not cancel the glide

Personally, i’m constantly moving while gliding. In every directions.
Also, yes, that would make jumping while gliding less precise, as to jump you’d have to release the spacebar (Hence, falling) before pressing it briefly again (To jump) Then hold it to glide. You might also end up gliding (Or jumping) without wanting to.

Yeah, guess you´re right … while the “hold spacebar” would feel somewhat natural for gliding to me, it does interfere with the multi-jump mechanic :confounded:

Have to agree here. It took me till the end of a full story mission before I found out how to trigger a glide.

… in addition to pressing RMB again jumping or using Liftoff would cancel the glide and one could aim without having to press RMB the whole time.
