I got a Rubberized Bonus Package from Pete last night.
Thing had a 0.0 fuse so I thought what the heck, I’ll try it out.
Threw it at the beginning of the Beatdown so as to be safe and not kill myself.
The damn thing bounced around for 4 seconds in a wild bouncing pattern before finally exploding.
FOUR SECONDS
0.0 Fuse time my ass…
How ANYONE could even employ a thing like that I just don’t know.

Yep, they have very low fuses but only trigger if they make contact with an enemy similar to how homing does. If they don’t make contact with an enemy they are going to adventure around for what seems like forever.
Longbow is where it’s at.
Baring that, Lobbed is pretty predictable, and does give you the option to throw over cover.
As for your question, I think in general, trying to soften up a bunch of enemies at a time with Zero is a waste of time.
Zero relies on either a decisive melee strike that milks out deception, or on a well-placed bullet from a very powerful gun…no matter how long it takes to aim it.
In short, he deals with foes one at a time, and he has no crowd control abilities like Maya or Axton.
So trying to use a mirv with him means that you will slightly hurt a few enemies, and then when you’re done with actually killing the first one, all that advantage will have vanished.
I suggest that the best way to “soften up” a foe with Zero is localized: slag and Kunai
A longbow slag transfusion has double duty as a very efficient slag tool and a nice slip-up insurance since Zero is so squishy. They can be used from very far to really soften up a single target… and they are totally safe from up close. They can also shoot around corners because of the homing child projectiles. You can even use them to aggro specific enemies out of corners.

When up against mobs I first aggro, and drop into deception. Then I pepper them with Kunai, and throw Homing Bonus Package x2 from cover.
After the booms stop I wipe up the remaining with bursts from DPUH.

Well Chuck…I hear ya…
And me not being experienced with Zero, I tend to rely on those who know.
And then there is this that I bought from the Serif Vendor just outside of Moxxi’s BadAss Crater Bar yesterday, before your post.
First try, no farming…and it looked like a really good one so I checked the stats in “the software.” Surprised me as it has perfect stats. Yeah I went out and bought a two dollar Virginia Lottery Ticket right after that…LOL
Anyway…it would be a shame not to try it out so…BOMBS AWAY!
Will let you guys know.
Rubberized just have more cons than pros to make them worth considering beyond being a stop-gap grenade, and even then it maybe better to use the weaker grenade if it has a different form of delivery.
I wonder if Gearbox (who is surely aware of this phenomenon) will attach some damage stats to these trigger types. How much more damaging would a rubberized variant of a grenade have to be for you to consider using it, for example?

I doubt if there is any more work going on in BL2 but it would be EXCELLENT if there was.
I maintain that a surprise DLC would sell like hot cakes and make up for some of the negative press GB has received for Battleborn (albeit unjustly IMHO…it’s a very good game and keeps getting better.)
But the economics are pretty blunt for Battleborn. While there still seems to be some gas in the tank for BL2…
But…be that as it may.
I agree totally on the rubberized. It’s TERRIBLE Legendary loot. And legendary loot should NOT be terrible in any loot based game. Unique maybe, and force you into VALID considerations for tactics and playstyle…which changes up the game and gives players different options.
Rubberized does not do any of that…it’s an immediate SELL item and that is a shame.

whoops - I was thinking of BL3. I have no reason to think they’ll deviate from this set of grenade deployment modes for the third installment, so giving some redeeming quality to the “weaker” deployments might make things interesting (and maybe include fuse time?) If a rubberized singularity grenade with a 3.6 second timer (for example) hit hard enough to be a guaranteed kill (say double the damage of your local Fastball), would you use one? I’d consider it.
