It doesn’t seem to have perfect synergy with Zer0, but yes I’ve used it to very good effect.
I tend to go in for Unforseen, so it works nicely for the the way I sometimes play.

Just skip to the 2 min mark if you don’t want to hear him drone on about the gun.

Oddly no one seems to mention the Rok Salt in the same breath as the Sledge. All things being equal ( parts ), they’re actually practically identical. I dislike the burst delay on the Sledge so prefer the Rok Salt for most things.
Both fall slightly flat on the OSOK front.

Twister, if you have the patience to farm this thing. Otherwise : Coach Gun.

What quad variant would you say is best then? And I have a docs coach gun but doesn’t seem to do much compared to the quad

The Rustler’s prefix decrease accuracy, which increases spread.
The Docs prefix will increase accuracy, so will get more pellets on target ( plus giving +50% crit ).
The Triquetra will outperform the Quad with less ammo. Even a Bushwack does better than a Quad in my experience.
But Docs, every time. ( Incidentally , Well Kept is rather good ).

I’ve found a great use for slag Sledge’s Shotguns on Sal- maybe Zero could make it work as well?

Trust me, it’s very good on Zer0. Tw0 Fang makes it a 3-shot burst and it just melts enemies in a matter of seconds. Careful with ammo though, it’s 4 per trigger pull.

Yeah it’s Bandit so the Magazine Size is very high usually. With a matching grip I have 20 in the Magazine and Zer0 has Killer so he reloads it crazy fast.

Ye Zer0’s reload and swap speed is only beaten by Axton imo

Krieg beats both of them through Kill Skills.

Doc’s (Critical Damage) or Accuracy(Huntin’) is best.
Personally, if you don’t pair with a Jakobs Allegiance Relic, Jakob’s shotties are sort of weak, with their small mag and lower damage-per-shot being their weakness. But pair a Coach Gun (assuming yours has 2 shots) with a Allegiance Relic, their recoil is reduced significantly and more importanty, you have 4 shots in your mag. This allows you to exploit the primary strength of Jakobs - their limitless fire rate.
If you are not using an Allegiance Relic, the elemental quad and triple barrels like the Jolly Roger/Shotgun Supreme will be a superior option. Some here have recommended the Sledge Shotgun, which is certainly a good weapon, but I have never found it could outperform the Jolly Roger.

As a fan of fire rate and accuracy I always say go Hyperion for shotguns. For non-shielded, non-fire enemies I fall back on the Heartbreaker as it’s easy to acquire, heals, and has the elemental damage.
I have always had less success aiming with the Conference Call for some reason, and the Interfacer as well, compared to standard firing Hyperion Shotguns. The Butcher is awesome, and the Slowhand has its uses as well. I forget if it can crit or not though. (it can’t).
