The first generation legendary class mods can drop as random world drops as low as level 27- just got a level 27 L. Mechromancer from a red chest just this past week (before that my lowest level legendary class mod was a level 29 L. Psycho, also from a red chest). As for Sal vs. Hyperious, what build and weapons are you using? It’s a favorite of mine with Sal (next to the Ancient Dragons). I can offer advice at least. And as for the Maggie/Slagga choice both can occur as world drops from the normal loot sources so don’t feel that taking one automatically eliminates the other…

Thank you both for your lengthy replies, very insightful!

@Carlton_Slayer Harold/Rubi, I dont have grog nozzle Only have acces to DLC 1/2), norfleets or quasars which is what I see in EVERY youtube guide. It’s a little irritating everyone only has one specific gear requirement/strategy to beat him. I don’t have any good corrosive weapons that might help me with it either.

Edit: I’m sure you wanna know the rest of the gear, my bad: L Berzerker, Sheriffs Badge, purple singularity, purple adaptive shield (I can no longer use FotFH it destroys my eyes)

I’m going to come at this a little sideways and say this: shift your thinking a little. Don’t worry about SMGs, as far as finding specifically those. There are some legitimately strong weapons that are very easy to farm, rather than relying on mission rewards before endgame.

Hornet
Hammer Buster
Lyuda (!!!)
Unkempt Harold

That’s enough firepower to waste pretty much anything. Get a corrosive Bone of the Ancients from the loot midgets ASAP, and you can farm the loot train for a Legendary Siren and random legendaries and etech (good source for Plasma Casters). The Bee is very easy and quick to farm from the treants in the Forest, and you can get good defensive shields from the loot train or by sorting out how to kill Pyro Pete and getting an Antagonist or Big Boom Blaster.

You won’t need to go hard for the truly top end stuff until you’re trying to overcome the toughest challenges.

Just to clarify for everyone, I was asking for SMGs because I mainly wanted a good mobbing weapon, so I’m not stuck waiting to kill 1 at a time at the cooldown of my Phaselock.

Not sure of your build but try this (unless you have this specced already):
http://bl2skills.com/gunzerker.html#505020521515005510515155003000000
If you want to do some tubby farming try to get a L. Gunzerker and or L. Hoarder to run with this. Also, Tesla and other A.O.E. grenades might work here- a Storm Front from the Splinter Group side quest rats is something worth farming. A slag Bouncing Betty will help keep Hyperious slagged if your Rubi ins’t a slag version (or try a slag O-Negative from Pyro Pete). Your singularity grenade should be enough to draw the loaders together (although if you find a corrosive one with 0.0 fuse time- KEEP IT! :grinning:) but remember you don’t want to necessarily kill them (yet)- you just want to drop the shield they put around Hyperious. When they do, aim for his head and pour it on, circle strafe to minimize damage taken and hopefully get a few Money Shot chains on him.

I’m currently using this build http://bl2skills.com/siren.html#150501354041050000002345510501 and have been having a lot of fun with it. I’m currently using a Slayer of Terra COM and plan on this http://bl2skills.com/siren.html#155501355051050000002345510501 to be my final build.
As far as SMG’s, I’ve been enjoying eridian ones.

The two most powerful guns a Siren can have are Pimpernel and Sandhawk. No contest! Sandhawk suffers a bit when it comes to flying enemies, because of it’s slow projectiles, but phaselock takes care of that. There are other really great guns, which the rest of the guys have already pointed out. The only question is what YOU prefer? I usually go for Maliwan Plasma casters as my main gun. It’s hard to not use the Pimp, so I usually end up there.

For close encounters… A Juicy Ravager! It doesn’t just annoy the enemies. It tears them apart! The fourth slot depends on what I’m fighting. A PBFG is always fun to use, and if I’m fighting crystalisks, I carry a DPUH. I rely solely on Scorn and Ruin for slagging, and skills for healing.

Even if you like nursing, you don’t really need that many points in the healing skills to be an effective nurse. Think back to when you were a small child… When the bigger kids beat you up, you could always run to your mom for some medical care, but… Wouldn’t it have been better if your mom could fix you up, while she ,at the same time, kicked the living crap out of those bullies? That’s the kind of Siren I prefer! :sunglasses:

@Ronnie_Rayburn may consider me a traitor for saying this but for the toughest enemies, the best combo I’ve used is a Leg Binder (to max Suspension) and a Tattler. Phaselock, rush the target and that massive mag size will last the entire Phaselock. Even for mobbing, Chain Reaction will send bullets everywhere. Granted, it’s not easy to acquire…

Man, tell me about it… the Maya I play most often (I have a few now, heh) runs with a Legendary Cat and fire, corrosive, and shock Bitches. I don’t want to think about the time it took to farm all three of those flavors.

That’s it, @Jefe! I’ll make sure Santa doesn’t stop by your house this year. You have now officially crossed over to the Dark side. Such a shame! :acmsad:

If it’s any consolation, I still hate the Tattler on the other characters.

SMGs?

Well, Florentine and a full assortment of Sandhawks are the must-haves. Slagga is great to have on hand if you’re not speccing into Scorn. Since you don’t have the TTAoDK DLC, Magic Missile grenades are out, so you’ll probably want to have either Slagga or Florentine. Or MAYBE just get a really good slag grenade. Crossfire is SUPER for slag, and the Seraph vendor in Torgue DLC sells it.

For a FIRE SMG, I love the Good Touch. Not the hardest-hitting fire SMG out there, but that Moxxxi healing is a big help. Hellfire is ripper. B1tch or Emperor in fire is also a great deal (seems few people like Emperor, but I’ve had absolutely great experiences with it). Really, those two work in any element. Avenger is the shizz, but that’s tough to come by.

Corrosive? If you haven’t already, pick up a Bad Touch. If you have, then I’m sorry. The two legos also come in this flavor, so there’s that. (Emperor is an easy farm, BTW, so it’s kind of a no-brainer to go for it.)

Shock? FLO. Florentine, that is. Also, the two legos in shock do just fine. Crit is available, but there’s that slippery-when-wet thing. Florentine is still a better deal, despite taking two ammo per shot.

Slag? Slagga. Flo. B1tch. Seems that’s the only flavor of B1tch that BNK3R wants to give me anyway, so I tend to have extras laying around.

Failing the big bad legendaries and uniques and whatnot, here’s what else I’d recommend…

PURE DPS, I favor Bandit SMGs. I’ve had good luck getting nice ones to fall from BNK3R. Corrosive SMG is usually a purple Bandit one with Maliwan barrel. Preferably a Barfy (alternate Bandit SMG specific to corrosive, IIRC). They’re good enough in any element. In UVHM, it’s less about applying DoT and the DoT damage amount, and more about just matching the damage type to the target. And for corrosive, you’ve got Cloud Kill anyway. Bandit SMGs don’t always have the highest card damage or fire rate, but the HUGE magazine sizes make up for that in the DPS contest. I’ve had Bandit SMGs upward of 91.0 accuracy, so they’re not awful on that front either. With the right parts and high quality, they’re wicked.

ACCURACY, it’s Hyperion every time. Initial few rounds may fall short, but once that reverse recoil gimmick kicks in they’re more accurate than some sniper rifles. No, REALLY. They’re TOO accurate for spray-and-pray tactics, and most well suited to mid-range engagements. Slower reloads tend to hold 'em back a little, IMO, but they still rock out at higher quality levels. Also, B1tch is awesome. Actualizer (Seraph Hyperion SMG, available in all elements IIRC) is an exception, in that the accuracy ain’t all that. But the card damage is HUGE. Might actually be the highest per-pellet damage of any SMG, but I’m not 100% positive of that. Call it 99.9%. Things are STOOPID, but accuracy is in the 80s and reloads are slow.

ELEMENTAL PWNAGE, you want Maliwan. Higher elemental effect chance and decent (second-place, I think) accuracy. And they just look sweet as all get-out. Not the greatest card damage, and no non-elemental options if you’re so inclined, but possibly the best overall SMG manufacturer. Again, higher quality leads to some really good performance.

Like, uh, whatever? That’s Dahl and Tediore. Nothing wrong with 'em, but nothing particularly special about 'em. Tediore would at least compete for higher DPS if they had larger magazines to begin with, or if the card damage were higher. But they don’t and it isn’t, and the super-quick reloads are really only useful when you put yourself in a bad situation. The using-my-reload-as-a-free-grenade thing can be fun, but then that’s more of an Axton thing to do well. Or Krieg, I guess. Not Maya, though, to be sure. Dahl? Good at everything, not great at anything. Not my first choice, but I’ll take 'em.

SADLY, we lack SMGs from Jakobs and Vladof and Torgue. I KNOW at least Torgue made SMGs in the first Borderlands, and they were SO good. I’ve got a Torgue Double Anarchy on EVERY character there just for mobbing up spiderants. But this is a tale of two games, and things have changed. Imagine it, though? Torgue SMGs would do wicked high explosive damage, but have slow projectiles. It could work for the mid-range stuff I do with SMGs. Vladof? Less accurate, but bigger magazines and high fire rates? Yup. All about that. Jakobs? High damage, high accuracy, never elemental (except when it is), but what’s an old-fashioned SMG look like? What’s that? A ‘Tommy Gun’?

SOLD!

Anyhow, get Florentine and Good Touch and a purple Bandit corrosive (Crudy Barfy, ideally), as well as a set of Sandhawks (minus slag), and maybe a Slagga for slagging when you’re running a little low on SMG ammo. Substitute Emperor or B1tch for any element where you need an alternative. Hyperion for accuracy, Bandit for never-reloading-again-in-this-lifetime, Maliwan for literally melting faces, and let’s keep our hopes up for BL3.

If I’m not mistaken, Florentine is from TTaoDK.

CRAP, that’s right. And if you don’t have the DLC, you can’t have any of the gear unique to it. DAMMIT!

Okay, Slagga it is. And Crit. Or shock-element B1tch or Emperor or other SMG, purple or blue.

Thanks, Ronnie, for reminding me that I’m a goober.

You’re not alone! I’m having a hard time too remebering where all the gear come from.

The Crit is also from the Tiny Tina dlc- just wanted to mention that…

Yeah. Apologies to OP. Florentine is such a mandatory piece for my sirens, that I forget how its availability is so limited. Same for most Moxxxi gear.

So yeah. Losing TTAoDK takes away Flo and Crit and all the spell grenades. Losing Hammerlock DLC takes away … uh … Rough Rider?

Torgue DLC does you no real favors for SMGs, though it does give you some quick/easy red chests to farm, and the easiest raid boss in the game.

Scarlett DLC gives you the one SMG you need to kill that raid boss, and the #1 most recommended sniper rifle in the game. AND the treasure room, so you get two swipes at a big red chest farm for purple/etech/legendary/pearlescent gear.

Between Torgue and Scarlett DLCs, you get two Seraph SMGs (both in Scarlett): Tattler and Actualizer.

Best bet is farming BNK3R and Pete the (not really) Invincible.

One other thing. Low-accuracy, high volume of fire SMG that acts as a shotfun basically? Bone Shredder. Farm from Bonehead in Arid Nexus Badlands and Digistruct Peak. HUGE magazine, 3 shots per trigger pull (only costs 1 ammo IIRC), can come in elements too. It’s for close combat spray-n-pray. Less accurate than Slagga, but not limited to slag only. Y’know, if brawling is OP’s thing.

Can I refarm Slagga after 72 level on OP levels since it drops from NPC during a quest? Also does quest rewards give gear for op levels?

Once you complete an OP level all bosses can be refarmed and their drops will be at the new OP level, give or take the -2/+2 range that gear can drop at. The Slagga can occur as a world drop, meaning any enemy that has a chance to drop a legendary can drop it- ultimate badasses, LLM, raid bosses, red Dahl chests, Marcus weapon vendor machines, the loot train, etc. As far as quest rewards go, the reward is locked in AT THE LEVEL YOU FIRST TAKE THE QUEST (capitalized for importance). Once you reach level 72 and start gaining OP levels, so long as you don’t accept the quest it will be at your new OP level. So if you decided to save getting a Rubi or FotF until you reach OP8, once you reach OP8 the quest should be at OP8 as well. The OP levels should scale like UVHM, meaning any quest you didn’t take until you reached max level should now be at that max level, be it level 72 or OP8.

I couldn’t play UVHM until I got a Slagga.
