BL1 - hardcore playthrough?

Wait till you meet your friendly badass spiderants…
I’m doing 4pl run as well, got to new heaven already, couldn’t find any anarchy’s yet, but found a merc mod with ammo regen thankfully, I’m on beer hunting for earl now…

Yeah I’m not looking forward to it…easier to crit, but elemental damage is worthless! I do think that in general, spiderants are easier than skags. Need a new anarchy or a masher of some kind; those will likely show up during the usual Mad Mel weapon farm.

Is this your first 4-player run? Zombie Island is fuuuuunnnn

You found a merc comm with ammo regen at (about) lvl 22? You are a very lucky VH!

yep, it’s +8 ,but still better than nothing, and today I found my first torgue anarchy while collecting beer for Earl, and I’m lvl25 now…

yes, I mean a full playthrough, but I did a lot of end game 4pl’s runs. But this full PT is fun for sure!

A bit more progress today. Lost Cave (no big deal), Headstone Mine (Sledge was intense…long fight!), and the Circle of Death (no big deal) complete, and just rescued Lucky.

Found while saving Lucky…cool gun but not good enough for Mad Mel.

this thing sucks but it has regen…so…

That’s a pretty cool green smg and a merc mod, nice!

Ugh, I expect your Mad Mel fight will be the longest and most tedious you’ll find. Even if you fight from the ramp (which I always do, sue me  ) it’s gonna take forever to take out the support vehicles and then Mel himself since they move so much and they constantly rocket spam you so you can’t see poop.
Enjoy the 20 minutes it’ll take

Yeah i faced Mel today, too. My least favourite boss in Borderlands I think! I also cheesed it from the ramp and it is an exercise in patience

Yeah I am not looking forward to that. I will farm something good, no matter how long it takes!

Got through Mad Mel and Tetanus Warrens today!

Maybe usable? Put it in the bank, then forgot all about it.

Here we go!

I feel a little dirty this time - normally I wouldn’t level all the way up to 24, since being overleveled really sucks the challenge out of the game (which is the whole point of this exercise). But, I was already just a hair short of 24 after doing all the Headlands missions. Oh well. I wonder if I’m just going to end up way overleveled all the time, and have the challenge disappear? Time will tell. For now, I’m on to the boring part of the playthrough…

The Spy is always worth a quick farm on these playthroughs, especially since you can get to the bounty board so quickly that the game won’t save, so you don’t have to Alt-F4 out if it’s bad. I wanted HX and an element. Got fire, might have preferred corrosive but this will do! I find it puzzling that The Spy has lower accuracy than my Barrel2 stinger. Whatever!

Spiderants are not to be trifled with…especially in large numbers and a rainbow of badass colors.

Pretty cool spy there, I got one just as yours.

Never have cared much about the Spy, too specialized.

Now that 16 fire rate Stinger, though, I want that badly!

Played a little today, from Treacher’s Landing through the Reaver side of Krom’s Canyon. I nearly died there - I am so used to running through the spiderants at the beginning of that path that I got totally surrounded by three fire badasses and two or three queens. Made it out but barely. I also went down in one of the camps on the way to Reaver, when a badass bruiser popped out with a fire spread launcher.

This is fun. I think I am going to die.

It’s been a while and it’s been quiet around here! I dusted off this character and promptly ran into a bunch of rainbow spiderants and barely made it out alive. I should have read my last few posts here before starting up again!

Made it through to Trash Coast…

I’ve still be chipping away at this, very slowly. Currently I’m at the entrance to the Descent…one more session should finish the playthrough.

I always try to kill all the Sera guardians in the Descent and Promontory before the Lance can. If you kill 'em all you can gain two levels between the start of the Descent and meeting Steele at the Destroyer. Shock Weapons work wonders.
Never really understood why Seras give so much XP for their damage output, but I’ll take it.

You’re chipping away at achieving something remarkable. Keep it up!

I’ve done Playthrough 2.5 Crawmerax solo with two players in the game. That was a long fight. The minions were more obnoxious. With four players… Even with perfect gear my Brick would have to get the fight into the right rhythm with three purple worms to have a good outcome.

Well, she died. This is the kind that sucks - killed by a proximity mine in Eridian Promontory. I had killed all the lance and guardians around, scrounging for a bit of ammo, and BOOM. Full shield, just under full health, to nothing and not even a red dot on the radar.

Cheap, yes. But - I was hiding behind a rock and heard the “grenade!” but didn’t hear an explosion…I actually thought “you should check for proximity mines” but by the time I killed everything I forgot. So - my fault.

Lost that perfect low-level hellfire too. Bummer.
