BL2 Re-release using UE4

Interesting idea, but it would take a pretty massive effort I think to port everything over to the new engine and make sure nothing gets broken while doing so.

And even if they did do it, the proverbial “everyone” would be saying the original BL2 was better, the new version doesn’t feel the same, etc etc etc etc etc.

Though they did remaster BL1, it was contracted out to a third party developer and there are some outstanding issues with it that have been there since day one (certain pearls being broken, memory leaks, etc… the remaster has not seen one single update since release and it’s been well over a year.)

If it would stop loot from dropping through the floor at the Sanctuary FT, Son of Mothrakk’s arena and the Bunker arena then DO EET!

(Hint : it probably wouldn’t, so don’t do eet)

And probably never will, it was just something to fire up the community for BL3

Yeah pretty dump idea.
I would have nothing against a overhaul over the original game but not with the new team!

Some things should stay as they are and be honored.

GBX would only screw it up!

Forgive me if this exists, but having experienced BL3 for the first time, through level 60 and some dabbling with Mayhem Mode, I have arrived at a similar point as I did during my peak love of BL2:

I would really love to see the previous games remade in this new engine at some point. Especially Borderlands (1). The combat mechanics, vehicle controls, map innovations, and teleporting would add so much. Since they Enhanced Edition already retconned the game on the sly (I noticed when they showed it off at PAX last year before release) I say go all out and flesh out all the cut story content that fits.

But I’d also be cool with BL2 and TPS being done in the new engine as well. And I will always petition for a story DLC centered around the next phase in the lives of the main four Presequel Vault Hunters(i)*. I have a post somewhere around here with my ideas of what I thought would be cool. Or was that in someone’s discord???

Who else would play those games if they were developed and released at standard prices ($60 US)?

My compromise would be a game that takes the Ideas of Digistruct Peak and Claptastic Voyage and would be a game set in a Borderlands Battle Sim that allows you to play as every previous Vault Hunter with all their associated skills, against all the previous enemies, and all new maps, and even maybe have a map designer like Portal 2? Characters could be released in seasons like Tekken and MK have done.

*(i) I can’t find where I posted it but they were:

Nisha - How the Dust Was Won - Bounty of Blood kind of stole my thunder though I posted the ideas well before that was released. Basically Nisha taming the Dahl Headlands/ Dust, running up against the clans and Skagzilla.

Athena - Atlas Shrugged??? (I actually forgot what I thought up for her when I wrote it) - but the logical extension of her story would be wandering Elpis and Pandora trying to make a life for herself up until the time of Tale from the Borderlands. Who or what might she have encountered along the way. Maybe even add more of a flashback element, where you get to play through her time working for and her rebellion from Atlas?

Wilhelm - The Fall of New Haven - Of course this was my humdinger, narrated by Wilhelm (via a Black Box archive even?). The aim being laying siege to the Arid Badlands, Fyrestone, Rust Commons and New Haven maps, defeating the original four Vault Hunters and mobs of Bandits and Atlas remnants along the way.

Merged!
