I really hate getting into politics ugh also hate defending Trump
So every Trump supporter is an idiot ? Or at least that’s how you throw it out there. I don’t know if that’s true. I sure find a lot of folks on both sides that fit into the brain dead catagory.
In the end I just want to run around and shoot stuff with a lot of explosions. I don’t need my video games to have a political agenda, sexual agenda, or gender agenda…

Yeah… which is why it’s rather weird and at times mildly irritating when posts sprout up performing impressive interpretive acrobatics in order to force connections to Donald Trump.
The guy’s name is closer to being a reference to Treants than it is a 2016 general election.

What would you call a person who, despite plain and simple facts, claim that while you are clearly holding two oranges in your hands, are actually holding four bananas and a pickle?
Because that’s how every attempt to debunk their out of this world lies end up.
And of course the inevitable but Obama, but Hillary, but emails and I’m not racist I voted for Obama always turn up.

I mean you can say Trump has lots of flaws, but you can’t say the Democratic side doesn’t have an equal amount.
That’s what people don’t understand. Damned if you do, damned if you do. Doesn’t matter who you vote for you’ll still get a dicking one way or another.

Now that’s out of the way, can we please remember there is a thread for political discussion so that folks can opt in or out of it? It’s here, in case your search function is broken.

I know my fair share of people on the other side too that no matter what Obama did he was right, he had his lies and corruptions. Just like Bush did, just like Clinton did etc…
Back to what I was really trying to express is I have enough BS in the world with politics, sexuality, gender that I don’t need/want it in my video games.
it’s in there, I will live with it.

They are vault hunters, the biggest badasses in the galaxy. But they are not all the same, moxxi, ellie, tannis, nothing like lilith or maya.
How do women’s rights and LGBTQ rights go hand in hand other than the fact its the obvious right thing, equal rights for all.
I also don’t see how the men were really more varied. Again like above ellie is nothing like tannis who is nothing like moxxi who is nothing like lilith. I could see lilith and maya being a bit similar but you could say the same for hammerlock and winny.
I don’t see how strong women are boring but this is a story about Sirens again, they are strong. So I don’t get it.
Did you play the game? Lilith went through an arc of being forced to be a leader to embracing it, dealing with the loss of powers and in the end finally took her responsibilities and took action.
Typhon was the biggest hero of the story and he dealt with a lot and a huge development arc of grasping on his failure of a parent.
Wainwright was maybe the second biggest badass in the story, not a siren
Even Ava dealth with things moving her charactrer.
Tannis had a big arc
I don’t get this at all.
That is character development that you just said there wasn’t

Wainwright totally mess with a fully powered troy, that was a badass move. What does being gay have to do with being badass?
This was the story of her grasping with leadership and loss of power.

Disagreeing/not understand non binary individuals but still respecting them is a sign of being a good person.
Disagreeing/not understand non binary individuals but attacking them because of it is a sign of being a jerk.
There is a choice being made there, and if people choose to want to call them a him or her when they know they don’t want to, that is disrespectful.
Why someone would want to be disrespectful on purpose is something I will never understand.

must have missed the memo - zero has been referred to as male multiple times in this thread.

If it was about trump why did he not talk like trump or act like trump?
When they do easter eggs like sloth or juggernaut they look, talk, and have names like them.
I don’t see it.

Traunt seemed so much more like their names for goofs on guys named Trent than anything else. And I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean, but my first thought when he started talking was “omg, he’s such a Trent”

Yes, because Zero identifies as a male. Flak identifies as non-binary.
(Apparently Zero was written with the intention of being non-binary, but Burch forgot)

This sentence pretty much distils the absurdity of people seeing deeply rooted political conspiracies in what writers come up with

That took my mind way too close to The Human Centipede. I guess there’s a reason the Borderlands humour resonates so well with me.
To add back to the topic, though:
The only time something from the game stood out to me as deliberate political or social commentary/mocking was the adventure of Rhys-Ball.
