You’re thinking of Dr. Langois, not Dr. Katoa. Gladstone is the relatively normal one you get the story quest from, not one of the crazy doofuses you talk to during the quest. 
And yeah bruv, I thought Gladstone’s last name was a bit odd too.

I like to think that everything in the Borderlands universe originated centuries or maybe millennia ago with human space explorers.
Maybe Maoris made good space explorers / settlers because their big warm bodies kept them warmer in the cold of space?
