Does anyone knows why i get damage when i shoot with the Rustlers Orphan Maker?

The orphan maker is a cursed item. Itā€™s the ā€œcurse of the backlashā€ that the card references. Sal doesnā€™t get it when he uses it in his off hand during gunzerk, hence its utility in the Deputy build, but no one else can escape it.

No problem. Although I do think itā€™s probably worth it if you consistently crit and/or spec health regen skills, with or without Sal. @Kurtdawg13 posted some videos of running a level 72 against the OP8 Peak here, and @DeputyChuck unlocked OP8 using it with his completely unsane Deputy build and an OP2 variant. (Both of those links use Sal as the example, but I think they prove its lethality conclusively.)

yes i used this build already to get op8. but i never realized that, my english is so bad i didnt know the word curse, i never thinked about the blue text xD thx a lot

High stack Anarchy Gaige can also escape the self damage, not always but she can. The self damage goes to the left side of the gun and with high Anarchy there is a chance that the gun will fire in left direction completely denying self damage. This is also the reason why it works with Deputy Sal.

It scales with any damage boosting, but it is generally not noticeable. However, if you were say Zer0 and use his action skill you can do a lot of damage to yourself due to the immense boost to gun damage.

If you intend to keep using it I recommend nabbing yourself a beefy shield that can handle the self inflicted damage or have skills that can trump the self damage such as Mayaā€™s Inertia or Gaigeā€™s Blood Soaked Shields.

Also I am not completely positive as it has been a while but the self damage scales with difficulty much like Kriegā€™s self damage, meaning in the OP levels you can easily incapacitate yourself if you are not careful. That however I am not quite sure is true but is something to keep in mind.

I donā€™t know why, but I got a bit of a chuckle out of this post. not in a condescending way, but in a parent kinda way. Seeing your youngin grasp whats taking place and to acknowledge it. warms your heart a bit. That kinda chuckle. :wink:

I have co-oped with people using the ROM in the main hand of Sal. and keep using it not realizing they are putting themselves into FFYL, and not the bullets flying around your screen. lmao Usually, those are randoms without mics cause I would continually tell them, switch your ROM to your offhand to no avail.
