TBF, that is totally reasonable. The fix should be to broken interactions and not unassociated skills.

There is no documented case of remnant having scaling issues with melee, slam, or anything of the sort, so this will more than likely be like the TTB nerf that didn’t do anything, or they just nerfed the skill. And if they nerfed the skill, the best way to do it would just be by removing the mayhem scaling rather than nerfing it at every level.

Im waiting to see percentages before going to comment the weapon buffs. But yeah those are things that really needed a buff. Devoted used to be 10 times worse than a Flipper not counting that it does not do splash damage. But % first.
Pretty hyped for the RYNAH, why not seems really cool to farm for those loot guys in Eden6 proving ground.
I don’t really make any exploit use of Remnant and it’s a marginal part of my Amara gameplay, but it seems like this adjustment is ( not unneeded tho.) based on a really short basis of players who have access to let’s day, perfect class mods, perfect white elephants and perfect way to save edit their gears. Amara is a class I really enjoy despite being said the worst of the pack, and her base gun dmg could have really used a buff since they were there fixing her. She already has Wrath in her blue tree that gives gun dmg, so I could easily see a nice little buff to it, is anything Amara needs more than anything. Now it is 20% and 40% after action skill. I’d say 35% and 70% after AS would be so great.
It’s kinda silly how they created the facepuncher and it’s so broken they HAVE to nerf skills that overinteracts with it

Any who, no problem with a delay. Just stay safe and get your affairs in order GBX.

There is always people that are going to complain about nerfs, regardless of long term balance and even if they come with good stuff like weapon buffs, that’s just how things are, some people don’t want developers to interfiere with “their fun” or “nerf stuff in a PVE game”, even if it’s clearly overperforming.

However, I believe in this case the problem is that they nerfed Amara first, who was arguarbly the weakest (I still think FL4K is the weakest character in the game, but they’re about on par with each other by this point because of her TTB nerfs and now this) instead of scaling back Moze and Zane first, so now you have two tier lists of characters:

  • Moze and Zane, which are insanely overpowered
  • Amara and FL4K, which are very well designed, but overall fall off in terms of damage or build diversity/gun viability in comparison to these two.

I think this change is a good thing, because it (hopefully) means that they’re going in the direction of fixing broken scaling issues with other skills, but it’s weird when you have such a 50/50 balance scale in terms of power.

I still dream of a day when I can say my biggest issue with BL3 is nerfs and buffs…

Just last week I was thinking how much I wished that loot variant enemies had a unique drop.

Devoted has been a solid weapon since the last time they buffed it. Looking forward to seeing what it can do now. Also curious to check out the Roisen buff.

No one is replacing anyone. Get over it.
You fixation on fictional characters can’t be healthy.

There being no documented case doesn’t really definitely mean anything, though?

Mayhem scaling is a whole other thing. “just remove Mayhem scaling” is a design decision that has other ramifications. It might be what you prefer, but it’s not in the same ballpark as correcting unlisted damage.

Sorry, but I see a lot of this as an intersection of “nerfs are bad nomatter what” and “Amara doesn’t need nerfs”. The latter is understandable. The former I will always fight, because I’m tired of people complaining that stuff isn’t fixed, and then complaining when Gearbox (even attempt to) fix things.

Imagine if they hadn’t tried anything. It’d be another week of “no changes smh Gearbox”. This is why they can’t win. Sure, there are a ton of issues with the game that need prioritising and not much perception-wise is going to shift until Gearbox address those (if they do). But we need to kneejerk less - far less.

I’m seeing +100% damage increase on Roisen’s Thorns and +200% for Magnificent

Any news on how much they castrated the white elephant?

Huh, I’m on the other side of that. I was surprised to see the Smartgun on the list, I’ve always been reasonably happy with it.
Possibly because I tend to spam the battlefield with them, set 6-7 off running, while I switch to another weapon. That’s my typical use against Captain Traunt and Gigamand to good effect.

I wonder if the R.Y.N.A.H is as strong as the Plaguebearer. Saw videos of people using it before release but found no direct comparison. The link looks instantaneous and goes through walls, but it also doesn’t do splash. Cool weapon buffs, might be fun to test them out.

Also, GB really had a whole discussion about how overtuned Zane/Moze is on their forum, then saw Amara on YouTube with “Gamebreaker” in the thumbnail and was like “lol melee build get yeeted”.

If there are people who have checked several times if that was the case and it has never been confirmed, then it means a lot. That would mean that this was either an unintentional behavior introduced at some point in the game, or said interaction doesn’t exist and it being confused for something else. And as usual we have no way of knowing which is which since the game mechanics aren’t in a nifty manual for us.

There is no unlisted damage. If the patch notes are implying that Remant was somehow scaling slam and melee damage, that is simply not true as there are far too many people who have done deep dives into remnant mechanics that never flagged this for it to be a thing. If they mean remnant isn’t supposed to carry overkill from melee, slam, etc…then that is a pretty massive nerf to “punching” melee while things like FP, Fishslap, and Stinger aren’t effected as much because they still deliver groundbreaker.

Either way, there is no issue with a mayhem scaling skill that can’t be solved by removing mayhem scaling from the skill. One nerfs the skill at the highest echelon of the game, the other nerfs it at all levels of the game. Remnant can’t hit 1bil damage off a Monarch pellet on M0.

And we know that GBX can buff skills in hotfixes. They did a bunch of them for FL4K back in August. So nerfing Remnant and melee gear associated with Amara that allowed her to be competitive with other VHs without any compensation is pretty sus.

From 2x your melee to 0.5 your melee, so roundabout a 75%-80% nerf.

:point_up:This. Loot enemies should feel special and have their own drops. While the Gen-2 pearls in BL2 were super rare and frustrating to farm for, at the same time they made finding a tubby enemy kind of exciting. A happy medium between BL2 and BL3 would be nice.

The Bekah farm in BL2 is still better than in BL3 lol. Would be nice to see one time legendary rewards added to some sort of loot pool as well
