Borderlands 3 "Possible Characters?"

(SolusHD) #83

Examples of this can be seen through borderlands with the Luck Cannon being a prime example of what a hand cannon is

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/borderlands/images/3/38/Luck_Cannon.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20150414021247

Other examples can be through various video games like destiny, but yet your depiction of a hand cannon is rather accurate of being a pistol generally slow that packs massive heat behind it

(SolusHD) #85

that is still different from a hand cannon on which you argued earlier

(˙pǝsɹǝʌǝɹ uǝǝq sɐɥ ʎʇıʌɐɹƃ ʃɐuosɹǝd ʎW) #86

yes, mistakenly said hand instead of arm. my bad

( The Dogs Bollocks) #87

I’d like to see a Midget character.

#88

How about three midgets hidden in a long trench coat. The character would appear to be tall with stubby arms. The action ability would be to unfurl the coat and become a trio of midgets. The player would be the midget on top(which should have shades, because coolness) and would command the other two to attack. they would use the weapons you have equipped in your weapons slots, if you don’t have a weapon in the slot the midget would just use a buzzaxe. Skills could set them up to be suicide, psycho, Goliath, nomad and maybe even helicopter midgets(midg-copter). Nurse midgets would be hilarious. Maybe an end cap skill could have you midgevolve into a super badass midget.

Gearbox or whomever has done very well so far coming up with characters, – except (IMHO) Aurelia & Nisha, neither of whom I can stand – so I’m not super keen to wish for something that is not likely to happen.

Tiny Tina playable character would be nice. Maybe not her necessarily, but someone like her. Explosives & demolition expert. Maybe she could open a shop with (or compete with) Marcus and sell specialty stuff or something. I don’t know.

I don’t like ShadowTrap as a playable character because he didn’t do much except screw with the player(s). Mind games do not a good playable character make.

I would like to see classes that have a bit of inherent bonuses to one thing or another.

I would like to see weapon proficiency return in some way.

I would like to lose the load screens between zones, by eliminating the zones altogether. There’s no reason technically why they have to be compartmentalized as such unless the Unreal Engine mandates it. It is nice driving around in GTA V without freaking loading screens. You can go miles and miles and miles and the resources just stream in and out, even on consoles with very little RAM. There’s no reason that can’t be done anymore.

It would be nice if the main plot required you to go to locations from all three previous games, plus a pile more. I freaking LOVE the look of these games.

Bows, crossbows, and silencers would be nice. Bandits should become aware of combat near them with their ears, and not instantaneous telepathy. If an ECHO call goes out, I wanna hear that. I wanna be able to shoot the ECHO device to prevent the bad guy from using it, etc. It would be neat if you could kill with a silent weapon and watch bandits near the victim look all around wondering where it came from, etc. It would also be extremely awesome if the occasional bad guy had a silent weapon also.

edit: Oh, and MOD SUPPORT, PLEASE. Even if it’s something like how Quake 2 did it, where all the moddable stuff was put into one or more .cpp files and compiled into a .dll that was loaded, even that would be enough. Something. A way to use custom maps, etc. Look at TF2 and aim in that direction in terms of moddability.

well since BL3 is going to use a different engine than BL2 and TPS, chances are much better for being able to mod levels. The current engine, when the game was cooked, stripped out literally all the editing tools, and made building an apk impossible for players.

I would personally like to see surviving Characters plus new ( but known) characters like Captain Scarlet and Tiny Tina.

I would also like to know where to get my 75 keys

(Genosse Wolf) #92

Maybe a few of the veteran vault hunters have opened a training camp where you can enroll for training. Using levels as a prerequisite, you would have an opportunity to complete quests for your choice of the instructors which would culminate in you earning one of their skills as the final reward in their respective quest story line. Maybe you could learn bore from Zer0 or money shot from Salvador for example. You could receive training once per play through which would give you a chance to earn up to 3 trademark skills from one or more instructors. This would make the new characters infinitely customizable depending on what skills they obtain from the various veteran vault hunters during their different playthroughs.

(The Poltergeist ) #94

I was thinking maybe a little bit more of a Robot concept, with a sort of “Gunslinger” idea.

His name is “S0R3N The CyberTech”.

Long story short, he is a robot that was programmed to hunt for the vaults all over the galaxy, but after the Hyperion Corporation fell he went dormant for years until Gaige found him while scrounging for scrap metal, and repaired him but has no memory of the Hyperion corporation or Handsome Jack, and went insane over the fact he cant find out where he came from, but still wanted to find the vaults, so he went out with the vault hunters on there quest for the vaults.

If you have a better backstory be sure to let me know, but most of the action skills are based on the back story.

(Epicjirachi) #95

an asura type character that is blind and uses a sword .
his action skill could be that the screem goes black and he takes down a couple of enemies and maybe you can upgrade it so that it marks enemies that you didn’t kill .

(vlad) #96

Usually Borderlands have a pattern in their skill trees. The left skill tree (the green one) usually focuses on teamwork and allie buffs and all about keeping your friends alive. The middle tree, (the blue one) usually focuses on melee bonuses like more damage or throwing daggers when melee or dashing to the target and stuff like that. While the right tree (the red one) usually focuses on elemental damage and such!
Btw Wilhelm was killed in Bl2 which may be the same thing with Nisha when the Vault Hunter kills the Sheriff in Lynchwood and Handsome Jack mentions her as his girlfriend.

(Wesleystewart) #97

I agree I just finished the fifth episode and I really would love to see all Rhys, Fiona, Vaughn, and Sasha in the next game even maybe as the new vault hunter’s.

(Metal_Mayhem) #98

Almost certain that Tiny Tina will be a playable character.

(The Poltergeist ) #99

i think so to.

(Uninspired) #100

Me personally I’d love to see Moxxi as a playable character. She did say she was quite the fighter back when she was not a mother.

That said, if there’s no Siren to take up the Elemental Specialist side of combat then Moxxi might as well be the next best thing, like how Athena was in the Pre Sequel.

(Toasty_Kit) #101

Honestly, I’d prefer if they kept the previous Vault Hunters away from the playable unless they plan to rework them all entirely. They were all awesome but we already played them. I want to see brand new characters that I can learn to love along with the old.

I’m also a fan of meeting Vault Hunters that I played before.

Just imagine meeting Krieg in Borderlands 3. He’s been through a lot but after some of help from the other Vault Hunters he’s back to his old self( or at least as back to his old self as he can be) and is now officially dating Maya. He gives you a quest. Standard issue stuff kill this or find that but part way through, while giving you the low down, the psycho reemerges and begins arguing with Sane Krieg. Now all of a sudden you the option either going along with the original quest or making a meat bicycle.

Oh, here’s an idea. If you want to make the previous Vault Hunters more involved you could make them teachers that provide extra skills that embody their fighting styles to supplement your existing skills.

If Claptrap, our tutorial buddy, can become a character I’m pretty sure Tina could if she grows up a bit.

A three to four year period between the two games might justify it. I wonder if she’d be more on the melancholy side or would stay like her old wacky/demented self.
