Wouldn’t the Jakobs add a bit more damage then? Reload speed would suffer, but like you said, hoping for 1 shot only. Might even be worth it to have 2 ready to go with a quick weapon swap.
Maybe Lady Fist main, fire quad off hand and another fire quad ready to swap to the off hand. Both with a single shot left in the mag?
I HAVE to imagine that would be enough…just have to be quick and have enough accuracy to pull it off.
re-read me: I said the TORGUE one has slightly higher damage
Oh…see I was just assuming you’re comparing to a matching manufacturer grip. Assuming is dangerous…
I thought Jakobs grips added the most damage on other brands weapons and Torgue second most.
Still learning stuff after way too many hours playing this game, lol.

In that case try joltzdude139- I watched a couple of his vids yesterday where he used Sal to take down Pete and then Hyperious with minimal gear and in less than 90 seconds each…

Consider me a convert. I found an all-Jakobs OP4 Rustler’s Quad today. I’m OP4. I have a Grog. Guess how I’m killing everything.

Using the Peak Tweak build above (with my own little change) and this shotgun, I blasted my way through 2 Scorches, 2 Black Queens, 4 Assassins and countless skags and loaders to unlock OP5.
This shotgun was a gift from Magic Jack up on his Tower. Hyperion stock would be lovely but god DAMN this works nicely. I even calculated the damage, and it’s actually just as strong as a ROM but with a wider margin for error. Still doesn’t reload fast enough for me though ;_;

That’s a nice gun indeed
Although you can say it has a wider margin for errors, it also means that it’s much less efficient at longer ranges too. It’s a tradeoff.

Yeah, I did notice that the turrets on the walls were tricky to get - that’s actually what killed me my first try as Deputy. I managed to jump and shoot my way past them, though.
I mentioned a slight change to the peak tweak build, too: I decided to grab Ain’t Got Time To Bleed instead of getting higher Max HP due to A: health gate and B: more powerful regen. Not GOOD regen, but more powerful. Other than that, though, it’s a fun build. I’m planning on trying to brute my way through OP5 with this gear, too. I currently use a high-capacity antagonist (though only lv72) and an auspicious raider com (+6 MS, +5 Incite), should i try and farm for a better COM or stick with the raider?

Right now, the COm you are using seems to be doing the job fine, I wouldn’t bother.
What I would try to get is a better shield. Try an evo or Adaptive instead. The Antagonist is great if you don’t have a reliable way to slag… but you do
Though if you have a Grog nozzle, Max HP is much better than AGTTB, because you will get full health from any shot you take anyway, even with increased health…so the health gate is not a factor, and the regen isn’t either. The only difference can be in getting killed in 2 shots vs 3 with more HP.

Yeah, that makes sense. I just figured a Chaotic Good or Evil com might be better. And you have a good point regarding HP, but I don’t think it matters TOO much anyway.
Also, I know EXACTLY how I’m gonna farm a shotgun for OP6+…SNOWMAN!

Evil is the only prefix that matters, as it’s the only one that affects your off-hand. Chaotic will make your grog nozzle shoot faster… so it’s not bad.
Just got another ROM with Gaige yesterday and I still have the mission open with Krieg. I also am about to do an OP8 run through with Axton and Maya after resetting their BAR’s so add another 2 chances to get one…

I recently realized that my Salvador did the pirate DLC at 72 since I didn’t expect myself to do OP levels.
Goodbye, orphan maker.
You can always reset your playthrough, trade for it or complete the quest with another character.
Alternatively, a coach gun, bushwack, Scattergun, Striker, Twister, longrider or Quad can do just fine.
The Triquetra or Hydra work well too.
As far as pure damage goes, a Doc’s Quad or Twister are the most powerful guns you can have, but they don’t have the accuracy of a ROM (which gets 95% of their power but is more efficient at medium range)
Just look at Ganza’s bar run with a blue scattergun… That’s OP8, and he doesn’t look like he needs more.

Yeah, but I do feel like I’m losing a good chunk of damage on bosses, especially smallar ones, due to being bad and not hitting my pellets. I think the ROM might help, but then again it might also be worse due to needing even MORE precise shot placement.
Semi-related, I managed to get hold of the same gun i use but w/hyperion stock to try out for a while, and the acc. recovery is SO much better. Holy Grail indeed.
A ROM would help.
A bad shot is a bad shot. On a ROM, you just miss, on a Quad, you will still hurt a little thanks to the spread. But the big difference is when you get a good hit: with a ROM it’s a kill, with a Quad, you will hurt a lot… But not necessarily kill, that just depends on the distance. A good hit with ROM at medium range is no different than one at short range, while one with a Quad will feel like a miss because the spread will transform your good shot into a bad one, and there’s not much you can do about it.
In short, a Quad allows you to be bad, while a ROM allows you to be good, if that makes sense.
Quads are not bad in and of themselves. But they require a bit of help in the accuracy department. IMO the best Quads are Huntin’ and Doc’s, since they both improve accuracy. Huntin’ more so, but Doc’s packs a much meaner punch due to it’s crit bonus… No clue if the extra damage would be necessary though.

Yeah, that does make sense. Blegh. Gonna have to find someone who’ll give me an orphan maker, then.
Just to be clear though: RUSTLER’S Orphan maker… Or stick with your Quad.
Without that prefix, the OM is mediocre…at best.
And it needs a mag size of 3 (so Jakobs or Bandit grip) or else it won’t work at all.

I know, I know! I just said orphan maker as a shorthand! Believe me, I wouldn’t have even considered starting to play deputy unless I knew what I was talking about
Jakobs grip, hyperion stock.

Hey man, so I’ve got myself a ROM, but the mag size is 2. How do I sort this out?
