The purple one could be better here since it’s much less important to proc Tombstone this time since you’re less reliand on the LC’s moneyshot.
Definitely worth testing.

As for the splitters, the Tediore ones actually fare much better against mobs than bosses. 2 mags is more than I usually need to kill a small pack of mobs. Since you tend to kill things fast, you’re often not shooting, which resets the Maliwan. You can totally make a Maliwan better against mobs, but it requires a bit more managing and ammo use (since you will sometimes keep shooting just to keep your bonus). The Tediore has more up front ease of use since you don’t have to think about it. And the lost beams, accuracy and wasted ammo …well, I never go out without at least 5/5 in trick shot, so it’s a bit moot here. Playstyle difference. I get better results with Tediore ones against mobs, and I’ve tested this a lot
I waste more ammo with the Maliwan in general. The difference in damage is also dependent on how many other damage boosts you have from other sources. I tend to use Sheriff COMs, Eddie… So to me, the extra damage from a Maliwan just adds on top of other bonus and is much less significant, while the 3 extra beams sorta act like a multiplicative boost.
Yes, I’m talking about thrash mob: the kind you meet during the normal game. Against tougher mobs (like badasses and mutator arena mobs) the Maliwan is clearly superior.
On the Pitchfork. ADS is nice, but if you’re heavily invested in Hell’s, hip shooting might be better after the first reload since the burst will probably only proc hell’s once while punching the trigger might proc it several times, resulting in similar fire rate but the later benefiting from quick shot.
True on all counts for the Tediore vs the Maliwan, i figured that’d be the case. I will definitely get around here in a little bit to testing the non-ele Pitchfork and the same setup with the burst fire with the shock/corrosive and see if that makes it better or worse with my setup.
Also i think I forgot to mention, the Decisive Bullpup (crit dmg) ended up being better than the more pellet one. In terms of more damage done and faster.
Results are in for the bursting on the Pitchfork, very very very slow, and very bad. Takes more than twice as long this way to kill Eclipse. When the burst fire ends there is a pause before it lets you continue shooting, also the damage loss and FR loss from not hip firing are very noticeable, as well as the fact that you reload and go out of zoom, then takes time to zoom back in to continue shooting, even done as fast as possibly, it would never be better with the setup i have, its just seamless and fast with the hip firing anyways.
Going to run off and set myself back up with the jakobs build and try the non elemental version with 30% shield bypass luneshine (not sure that it will matter but I’m thinking in terms of bypassing some shield to have direct damage done to HP faster for a possible increase to hot lead tick dot damage sooner?)
Well all done testing, Jakobs build with the non-elemental version of Pitchfork is ok-ish, it doesn’t get enough bonus damage to offset the shock damage to shields or the corrosive damage to Eclipse, so its just not as good.
Tested Pitchfork with Amp shield + Crack Shot, shield doesn’t ever become full to even get one shot off with amp shield on a fight like Eclipse, it would be cool for mobbing but who really mobs with a Pitchfork, that’s silly. Crack shot helps a little for sure, it sadly doesn’t really decrease the fight time and the best run I was able to get was 14 seconds using Crack Shot because I lose the firing speed from having no Unchained in order to get Crack Shot. I was left with like 20 ammo though because of the extra damage using Crack Shot for the record.
Still need to test the Purple Crapshooter Class Mod, that’s next on my list.
Tested the purple mod, The fire rate increase is nice once you get up to 21 stacks of Unchained. It seems like I’m almost losing as much damage from the loss in percent from Tombstone as i make up for in fire rate, So its better sadly to stick with the Blue mod as you get more damage per bullet, i couldn’t kill Eclipse any faster with a 3 Splitter, or the Blaster using the Purple mod. And when i tried to kill Eclipse with the Pistols I could no longer kill him before I ran out of ammo. It was already cutting it close before, now its not possible.
I don’t see a reason to use a non-elemental Pitchfork to be honest. Elements are great, especially in UVHM.
even with 10/5 in both hot lead and mag6, it would still not match a corrosive one.
Just to be sure: Does the Pitchfork kill Eclipse faster than any other thing you’ve tried so far ?
Including what’s in your jakobs build ?
I get that against Eos, the LC’s synergy with Tombstone and Unforgiven is hard to beat, but against a single target ?
I was just trying the non elemental with my jakobs build to see if it would be as good. Its not tho as I found out lol.
Yes to answer your question the Pitchfork is the fastest at 11 seconds. I have killed Eclipse with the flayer many times now in 15 seconds with my jakobs build and the flayer. Trick is to be standing hella close so you get all the short fuse bonus damage possible. Pitchfork is slightly better tho because of the shock/corrosive aspect.
Not to mention 50% more crit bonus than the Flayer
…Well, technically not 50% since the flayer gets some type B but still…
Its just too bad shotgun and sniper ammo are so limited.
Since Tombstone is much less critical this time around (No moneyshot to make crit and you’re also missing the 50% type B bonus that dual-wielding pistols gave you to make those crits really count)
It might be in order to test other COMS.
Could you do me a favor ?
I would like to see a Bullpup run (even if you run out of ammo…doesn’t matter, I just want to compare)
Once with your current setup with Crapshooter
And once with a blue Fast as lightning kid COM (+6 faster N you, +5 Bona fide grit)
No changes to the build
(of course, since tombstone is now only 5/5, it becomes more important to aim for crit spots this time…)
It could also serve as a starter track in exploring different options.
I’m expecting the crapshooter to still win…but by much less this time.
See, in your Jakobs build, Tombstone is invaluable, because a lot of your damage comes from the moneyshots…and ONLY tombstone can make it crit. But on the Pitchfork or bullpup or most other guns, tombstone only does automatically what CAN be done manually, so you gain much less out of it, especially if you can aim. (or to put it simply: this time, if you’re already hitting crits, Tombstone does nothing for you)
Will get on it right now doing the testing, the big difference here will be far less damage while in showdown, because far less shots will be able to crit, 36% less chance to crit and losing the 42% gun damage while critting more. Should be easy to get the results though.
I’ll of course be aiming for his puny head while not in showdown though.
You will not lose most of the crit bonus part because the COM boosts BFG, so this is nearly even…
The skills are less important than the nearly 50% gun damage bonus to shotguns and the 40-something % bonus to fire rate straight from the COM…that’s some DPS right here to make up for the loss
So it’s really just:
36% tombstone
Vs
50% gun damage, 75% fire rate (the COM bonus and FNY combined) and 35% reload speed
if you crit naturally, the difference will be VERY slim
It will be semi-equal outside of showdown, but if you use showdown, it doesn’t aim for the crit spot and there’s no way to make it, so it will be far less total damage done to Eclipse because of the 2-3 times i enter showdown as it comes up.
Inside showdown, you might lose the Quick shot bonus…but it might be a better deal to ADS this time. The fire rate bonus from QS will be negligible anyway and the 30% gun damage bonus is mitigated by the COM’s bonus.
So while in showdown i can ADS and aim for his head?
Yes.
In a Tombstone build there is no point in doing that (especially with OFEOY since you would also lose the use of one of your pistols), but otherwise, the bonus from ADS beat the bonus from Quick shot by miles every time
While in Showdown when i zoom in its auto targeting his turrets sadly.
I can just not use Showdown for the comparison of total damage done with kill skills running with each com.
But its not an accurate representation of playing the character is the problem.
You can switch target by flicking the joystick lightly. or if you start showdown with his head in the crosshair it will lock there.
I agree, not a good representation if you don’t showdown.
It switches between his 2 turrets and Swarmers, even if I’m already zoomed in while i enter showdown sadly, i even blew up the turrets, it still wont let me aim at his head in showdown while zooming in lol.
Basically with Nisha in showdown you never aim for crit spots, ever, showdown aims for the center of the target, thats why 66% tombstone is SO important for Nisha if you plan on you know, actually using her action skill, lol.
Which sucks of course, because then if you want to do fantastic dps, your stuck literally with like 2 coms, crapshooter, or elpis. But crapshooter still gives you that better higher chance to crit all bullets, and its noticeable.
Anyways I’ve done several runs with the Kid setup because my first run with the Crapshooter was fine. I have the videos uploading to YouTube and will post them here whenever they are done, like in uhm… 20-30 mins or so.
That is quite untrue, I’ve used showdown to aim for crits VERY often. It might not work on Eclipse (shame…) but in general, I know it works.
anyway, too bad about that.
Could you still do the matchup even while aiming center of mass ?
You can only aim for crits while in showdown, when ALL targets that your showdown could lock on to are out of showdowns lock on range, then you can go ahead and aim where ever you feel like it. Otherwise showdown auto aims for the center of the target, not for crit spots, and you can’t make it aim for crits if your in range of your target.
And ya i did the comparison, ignore the fight times as i was mostly just trying to make sure i had a kill and was of course still doing it as fast as possible, the fight times were probably very close / similar when they ran out of ammo anyways.
