Burst dash AoE or Not?

I’m curious though and tried to look for an answer, but no luck. With Burst Dash and the Culling, does that 23% extra damage happen the moment you hit an opponent with the skill and then last 3 seconds or would the hit just trigger the 3 seconds and then any hit afterwards would give 23% damage?

Reason I ask is if the case where the 23% damage isn’t included in the ā€œburstā€ dash, then would taking the AOE version be better as once you hit the enemy, wound happens and for the duration of the AOE ā€œdotsā€ would get the 23% extra damage throughout the rest of the skills duration? I assumed the 23% damage could be stacked on top of the 25% from passive and calculated risk shield helix, but if the 23% isn’t part of the actual Burst Dash skill and only afterwards, then Fan O’ War is probably the better option.

No i already tried that and the debuff doesn’t work on the AOE itself

The effect last more than 3sec (5sec or 6sec) so the culling is great if you follow with your ult as it will proc the 23% for the full duration of the ult + the explosion of your clone

@slife_one looks like I’m not the only one that would taunt another player who is using your main. To the OP, i’d definitely prefer the signle dash instead of the aoe. Also, if you have enemies that are in close range, burst dash(single hit) can get them as well and the damage wont be parted. I’ve gotten plenty double kills with burst dash.

I’m disappointed that her juggle was removed, but with the increased attack speed, I can see why. I’m interested on how you play Deande because I too can ā€œwreck shopā€ I’m on Ps4 and i’m curious if I ever went up against Slif_One

There are many playstyles with Deande, but you get the most satisfaction when you kill an enemy with burst dash when they have less than 1,100 health. Then they’re like:ā€œwhat just killed me? how?ā€

DON’T TELL ME HOW I GET MY SATISFACTION.

Also, I get a lot of satisfaction stealing my teammate’s kills, so.

lol i wouldnt want you on my team then. MY KILL, MINE. I love going against a mike and an alani because I just get behind them and one shot em

but why would you use it on minions to begin with? considering the wind-up and recovery time, it’s not really saving you from a bad situation and you would do much more DPS with the standard attacks.

I agree with not targeting minions, turrets, etc. it should be reserved for BB and major enemies

I’m actually pretty surprised by how many don’t use AoE. Since I don’t see many arguments for it, I’ll throw out every reason I can think of lol:

  • I’ve gotten TONS of double kills/kill+assist with it (thinking of a time when I killed Rath and Ghalt running in opposite directions right now). The range is remarkable even without the Helix boost. Hell, sometimes I don’t even realize I’m connecting on a second BB until I see that beautiful ā€œK.O.ā€ on my screen.
  • Much easier to finish off an invislbe OM or Pendles because you don’t have to track their movements if you know where they’re headed
  • I’m a harasser/pusher, especially against support players, and use it as a finisher when they think they have time to get away. I can turn in the opposite direction or connect as they run around the corner and get ready for my next move while I have that extra second in the 3rd-person view… perfect if you plan on using a holotwin right after so you can choose the angle of your exit strategy
  • The DOT is only over .75 secs, so you should be able to easily connect with all of it in the right position. Since there’s no delay, you can finish a BB off like Caldy before they dash away
  • Great for connecting on minion waves, which means you get XP whether or not you actually kill them

I get the skill and reward for connecting with the non-AoE, but it’s nice to have at least one Deande attack that’s easy to land lol. I didn’t take into consideration the crit possibility on the non-AoE though…if it’s a decent chance I would certainly consider that route. But I love the AoE and I guarantee you I’m one of the best Deande’s you’ll play against

Huh? Why would anyone?

Are you on PS4?

You mentioned changing how it worked from PvE TO PvP. If you just eliminate minions from being targets, you can keep the consistency.

And yep! Manic211

I started using the left option more and I find that it makes her escape more unpredictable. It also allows you to dash behind an enemy from in front of them and get them from behind. It allows her to be more flexible in combat and makes her more unpredictable to enemies trying to finish her off.

I used to run the aoe when I started playing her but now go with the dash because of the attack speed and ult damage buff. You kill enemies much faster now.

I know this is old but never go with the aoe you can get much more damage potential with regular burst dash. Combining her passive with her helix 4 upgrade to use 50% of shield as damage she can deal 600+ damage with it

They do the same amount of damage given you’re within range for the duration of the aoe.

Using the aoe and life steal on lvl 4 can give you almost full health from a minion wave. I’ve found that improving her sustain is just as effective as boosting her damage

Sometimes I find that increasing sustain might be an even better option, considering that Deande is meant to come in and clean up. Getting in the fight, staying for a sticky situation, then getting out of there is something I find more compelling than exhausting everything to hopefully kill your target. I usually go with sustain because chances are, you won’t be in a 1 on 1 all the time. Buuuuuuuuut that’s just me

I find both have their uses. Ground zero is good for helping lane clear and for weakening a group of enemies and it has a better chance hitting the target and great sustain if you use it with drain dash. This can still be devastating if setup right. Since the patch i’ve been using the single target one and since it no longers knock back it’s so useful in picking off low people in well, a burst.

So GZ=utility
BD=death to enemy

Please do yourself a favor and use the burst dash and not the aoe… She’s an assassin, not some wave clearer. However, her burst dash can be used as a wave clearer too if they’re all scrunched up together. I really don’t think her aoe is intimidating at all and I never choose that option. Her helix that grants an addition 10% life steal is already amazing enough.

Overall, if you really want to rack up kills then burst dash is your best bet. I’ve killed Melka,Benedict, and jumpy characters in the air with burst dash and you couldnt do this with the aoe.

I’d also like to add on, if you have enemies that are running away, you could easily get them with the dash.

I was under the impression that the aoe does less damage regardless of the amount of time you’re in the tick.

I could get almost full health from a minion wave too with using melee attacks(with the life steal option). I’d rather save that skill on an enemy rather than minions,IMO.

I heard you can crit with the non AoE, but otherwise it’s the same.

I only used the minion wave as an example. It’s best used if you go with the slow helix on lvl 5 where you can connect and slow an entire group, and continue fighting if you were kinda low on health. I go either way on lvl. 4 depending on the match up.

Yerp. In PvE, I’ve crit Brutes for more than 2k before (Calculated Risk + Burst Brawler + EoS + Bola’s Target Finder). I don’t really have a problem clearing out minions with her (especially since most minions die to a single crit regardless) so having an ability that will one shot an elite is super useful.

I got my first kill with a crit burst dash the other day. May have made my teammates deaf from my cheering. Now to just pull it off regularly, because that thing hits like a truck.
