If I didn’t generally prefer guns that aren’t “Two-fer” I’d probably take the Iron. However, they are not the same gun. Irons, of any flavor, are not wheelguns. Irons are generally superior to wheelguns. It’s a case of apples to oranges*. If you could find either of those guns, with identical parts and prefixes but of the different rarities, this would be a valid piece of evidence. As it is, it is only proof that the green weapon fits your preferences more than the blue one. That is to say that this evidence is anecdotal at best, and almost certainly subjective. If the question is strictly about rarity the answer is yes, but the comparison seems unfair to me. I’d hate for my prowess at basketball to be compared to someone who plays professionally, there would be no chance of me not being reduced to an uncoordinated less-than-novice.
*Now known as the @Kurtdawg13 argument, as I just noticed he made this point upthread.

Basically what paul said. I don’t generally like the “two fer” line of attachments
I don’t really need to respond as Paul and Pie stated it exactly, but since it was to my post that you responded…
Your green has a Jakobs barrel and a Jakobs grip. Both of these increase damage and the grip increases mag size and improves reload. On the downside it has that crappy Two-Fer prefix which doesn’t work to a Jakobs’ strong points : accuracy, therefore critting.
Your blue has a Bandit barrel which increases damage a bit but not as much as a Jakobs. And has a Vladof grip which increases fire rate on a gun that has unlimited fire rate, but also reduces damage.
Your blue has inferior parts, not an inferior rarity.
Good post, and yes exactly what I was talking about.
In my mind the gun with parts that worked to it’s advantage WOULD be presented as a blue class gun.
Tbh that’s how I kinda thought it worked.
Now, evidently this is not the case, so yes I’m now of the belief that a green gun CAN be better than a blue gun of same type and level, due to chance having best parts for it.

If i got a green iron with dastardly prefix and jakobs grip it would 100% be better than a blue or even a purple iron with a bad prefix and a Hyperion grip. Bonus points if the green has a better sight
For an apples to apples example, I used the GearCalc to show a Jakobs AR with all Jakobs parts , all at level 50 and no accessory. Apparently whites can’t have a Jakobs barrel, so didn’t show it - no big deal.
The purple has the accuracy accessory as it has to have an accessory :
Damage and mag size increase; accuracy increases marginally ; fire rate and reload are the same.
The green one always spawns with matching parts, while the blue one has pretty bad parts for a Maliwan SMG (Tediore Barrel, Bandit Stock, Hyperion Grip).
Not all of them do !
This specific SMG is the one you find in the Storage Bank, and it always spawns with matching parts. It’s a very good weapon early in the game, especially if you’re Athena.
That was my first reaction but it does show how parts are important.
We do have two “different guns” as they don’t have the same barrel but the green Maliwan smg is superior to the blue Maliwan smg.
Of course if you have two identical guns the blue will be superior. With the possible exeption of Jackobs SR. Even then. With a powerfull scope at long distance. A blue Jackobs Sr will outperform its green counterparts on single shots. (One shot one kill potential.)
Parts does matter. Any experienced Vault Hunter know that.
I know its an old topic and anecdotal evidence but I did several odd self imposed “challenges” (white gear only, white/green/blue only, assault rifle only, pistol only, etc) and when I did a WGB (white-green-blue) only challenge I found myself seeing more greens being effective versus blues. Hell I had some white gear sprinkled in the mix that were pretty helpful albeit non-elemental.
Later when I did an assault rifle only challenge I used a crap ton of greens with only a few purples and blues in the mix. It really came down to two plus two things for me. Weapon per-shot damage versus damage per second + reload speed versus magazine size. In the end, DPS (damage per second) and reload speed won out.
I’m going to start recording these runs from PC version of the game as I did the last several challenges on XBOX One. I just cannot get OBS to capture video (will make a separate post about it).
