Can we get a heavy armored, heavy gunner woman?

I have no idea if any of the characters in Battleborn are in any way LGBT. Lots of diversity in other areas but I haven’t seen any indication that any of the characters were anything but cisgendered and straight. If there was it wasn’t obvious enough or I missed it.

(Might seems rude, but not intended. Sorry in advance if it does:)

That’s a funny statement:
“I have no proof they are gay, so they must be straight.”
I could answer with:
“I have no proof they are straight, so they must be gay.”
If you see what i mean.

And gay is not an act or speech. Peoples don’t “look” or “sound” gay (Or straight… or bi, or whatever) It’s not a behaviour.
What you are probably thinking of is “Manly” or “Girly”. Not Straight or Gay.

Also, it doesn’t matter anyway.

And i don’t think we need a heavy gunner woman, we already got the heavy gunner covered so that would make a double. And as for heavy armoured we got Galilea now.
But a more muscular woman than we have so far, yeah maybe.

What I mean is that I haven’t come across anything in their dialogue to indicate any attraction to either sex for any of the characters which leads me to believe that the game may have been hetero-normalized because that is the default state in society and media for the most part. Sure, Gearbox put a lot of LGBT content into the Borderlands series but there isn’t any indication that they are doing the same for this game. Perhaps they want to play it safe this time around as I imagine they got a lot of heat for adding such content to the Borderlands series of games. Or maybe it was 2K who made that decision for them. Or maybe there is such content but no one has yet to come across any of it.

so, aside from one very specific character that matches exactly what you want, there are no women in the specific stereotype that you want to play as? sounds like there’s already a character to satisfy you.
(i also find it a bit absurd to see someone complaining about diversity in the hands-down most diverse game I’ve ever seen, but that’s beside the point)

Maybe we could get a DLC character named Sadie who’s basically actress Rebel Wilson with a grenade launcher wearing a biker outfit

Still funny.
It’s like you said a bottle is probably empty because it doesn’t say anywhere it’s full on the package.
If you get what i mean.

You probably don’t give enough credits to Gearbox and (Even if i’m not the most friendly lad with Publishers) even 2K.
I think Gearbox don’t really care about haters, and 2K would probably see it as good publicity.

But i don’t think it’s part of the character design.
I guess the main question they have when they make a new character is

Might be, yeah. But it would probably be for a joke more than a forced fact.
Like a character that would shoot bullets in weird patterns and said that he/she is “not good at being straight”. That kind of thing.

Plus, as i said, it wouldn’t matter if there is some or not, anyway.

But, i diverge from the topic.

I find that in a game where you play characters trying to stop the end of all things, relationship preference takes a backseat.

Can we get back on topic please, and let’s stay away from offending people with bad stereotype jokes.

There are several types of heavily armored heavy gunners, so what kind did you have in mind? Mini-gun? Mine-layer? Rocket launcher? Heavy machine gun? Anti-material/vehicle rifle? Rail-gun? Flak cannon? Grenade launcher? Flamethrower? Shield or no shield? Heavy armor? Power armor? Mech suit? Cybernetic body? Or does it matter so long as they’re big, tough and can take a beating?

And yet most of the women we have cover the assassin role. :stuck_out_tongue:
I mean, this game is, to paraphrase, “for every badass.” Personally I don’t think that’s quite covered in the current roster. I’m not saying she as to be exactly like anyone, here. She can be different, I’m just saying, a durable heavy weapons is desired.

Oh, I want to try them all! I’ll find someone to settle in with, and maybe enjoy mulitple characters, but sometimes I’d like to wade into combat, and be on the front lines without having to worry about someone else supporting me,or supporting someone else, and worry about having some very low health/durability on top of that.

As much as I hate to say it, I’m not sure where you get the idea that there’s a huge diversity in the roles of playable women.
Like I said in my opening post, we have shields, mechs, heavy armor, and a plethora of fantastic means of increasing one’s durability, and plenty of opportunities for immensely powerful weapons. I find it weird there’s so few if any women really taking advantage of it when everything should work equally well regardless of gender. I mean we have a penguin in a mech suit firing off heavy assaults.
I’d rather not end up doing the fairly stereotypical roles of being support, delicate, rogue like, and/or a glass cannon which seems par for te course for most, if not every woman revealed so far. I really want to see something different from the norm. I feel like it’d be pretty appreciated by others, too.

Honestly, it’s the latter. I’d like to see their creativity flow, and see what they come up with. I have faith in them as they have created a nice cast.
I’d rather not tie them up with my own views on the matter which might sound weird considering I did request something kinda specific. I just really want a mold breaker, so to speak.

A mini-gun does sound appealing though. The steady hum of a vertical rain of bullets is a favorite sound of mine.

Hm, depend.

Deande, yes, clearly, hah.
Melka and Thorn, too.
But Reyna and Ambra are supports.
Orendi is a AoE damage dealer.
Phoebe and Galilea are pretty much tanks.

Personally, i don’t think it lacks diversity in terms of roles.
But, if Gearbox goes for a 50/50 Male/Female, that mean we could have 4 Females yet to be revealed (Supposing it’s 50/50) So, we might have a big girl with big guns in there.

From what I read in this thread, Phoebe got an assassin sort of role. She doesn’t seem to have any outstanding health, either.
I’m not super sure how much reach she has, either, but I imagine anyone with a gun outside of a shotgun (It’s a peeve of mine when shotgun ranges are terrible when in reality they aren’t, but what can I do?) will have superior range, and no doubt more than a few will have better durability on top of it.

I think there could be more diversity, personally, and I’m hopeful to see it even if they don’t go 50/50.
If they do go 50/50, that would be a spectacular bonus, IMO. Very few games are willing to do that with their rosters when the rosters get large.

Maybe. We’ll see. (Soon, probably)
I’d be a bit surprised if they do 50/50, though, to be honest.

Her lack of health is kinda why I am hesitant to put her in the “tank” role, and make me more understanding of an assassin role.

Melee sorts tend to have teleports in this game, or some equivalent like Ghalt’s hook shot.
I do get it’s for balancing purposes, the range of videogame shotguns, I mean, but that doesn’t men it can’t still bother me. :stuck_out_tongue:
Personally, some of the best armor one can get is distance. It provides more time to react. Getting in close and having to tank hits while having low health boggles my mind.

I’m not expecting a 50/50 male female split, or anything remotely close, either. It’s rare if it’s ever happened for a game with a large roster to do that.

It sounds like you want female versions of characters that exist. That being said, I positively hope there’s gender swap skins for every character because I think that would be phenomenally funny on some, and I don’t mean full gender switch but the same model with genderswapped outfits slapped on. Attikus with lipstick comes to mind lol

Edit: moustaches for all the women and lipstick for all the guys.

I don’t want it to sound like that. Not at all. I trust that if there is a heavily armed, durable woman added to the roster that she stands as unique as the rest of the characters.

I do want to keep in mind that even if Reyna, since that is the big character being brought up, isn’t compatible with you doesn’t mean there wont be a character you don’t expect that will be. past experience has proved me on that before. Personally Orendi has my eye for a character as she did when I played, I am excited to try out the game for real when we have all the characters.

Plus who is to say that gearbox won’t release a new skin or something than or an update later on that maybe the gender of the character can change with the base being basically the same. I mean its Gearbox a company that takes care of its fans.

Oh, I’m open minded about liking any character, don’t get me wrong. This isn’t about compatibility so much as not wanting to be stuck in certain role limitations.
I would hate to be one character all the time, or in the same handful of roles other games like putting women in to. Sooner or later I will want to play as a heavy, though. I will want to wade into battle, and wail on enemies without being squishy as heck. my problems with trying to fill the role with Reyna is that she has low health, her shield buffs seem far too limited, and dependent on having an ally to target, and her gun is pretty weak, so she has to rely on powers.

I really am looking forward to trying all the characters, but I see a huge gap in a role women fill, so I made a request that the role be filled.

Skins, it’d depend on what they did, but I’d rather not they resort to that.
