I wish they could have at least did an “M11” for every mayhem level. Though even if they patched that in, it’d still be a limited system.
I like how Genshin Impact handles difficulty for their new event. Selecting a modifier grants you a certain amount of points, and the more points you have the better the rewards. The great thing about this system is that rewards are based on your total amount of points, meaning you can mix and match different modifiers. Past a certain point though, the rewards aren’t exclusive so those who aren’t interested in the max difficulty aren’t missing out, but there’s still motivation to try to sneak in as many modifiers as you can. Even if I just wanna chill I always get this tingling “just one more modifier” feeling. It doesn’t exclude casual players while also encouraging them to attempt hard content.
Going forward with BL I wish we had a similar system here, but even then its unrealistic to think BL3 will ever have this.

For as long as this system has been out now we should have that option now. I understand the harder the better the reward drop percentage but mayhem needs tweaking altogether. And M11 is a move in the right direction but limiting the drops isnt.

M11 is old M4 hahaha
Having selectable modifiers with their own rewards was what i think pretty much everybody had in mind wheb they told us they where working on M2.0
Now half the modifiers are just absolute garbage (elemental immunity) and others are anoyingly broken (immunity drone clipping through walls)
M2.0 was a step in the right direction, and 2 steps backward.

Exactly what i thought when it was announced. I loved M4 and when i saw the modifiers for M10 when it dropped i really couldnt believe them. I’ve found my fav’s of them but getting them shouldnt be this bad.

Yeah i think I spent around 8 hours just rerolling terrible modifier combos haha…
So having M11 was pretty much a godsend
But it came to late haha for me the game has become pretty stale. I’m not really a person who needs to be able to play the highest difficulty, i rather like the feeling there’s something to work towards.
BL3 however, the modifiers practically do nothing for actual difficulty, Mayhem weapon scaling make the whole thing pretty much limited.
I really liked OP levels in Bl2, even if i was able to play OP8 it still was a challenge.
M10/11 is far to easy To be the ultimate difficulty

Now i havent touched M11 yet since drop rates are lowered so maybe you can help here. Is it better for playing with a maxed level character thats well equipped and not for leveling or farming? I just got one maxed and farming for his specific gear and build, should i stay in M10?
Drop rate is pretty much for world drops and they are still hella plenty hahaha
Other then that it plays like M10 but without all the flashy modifiers haha

I guess since i havent rolled my specific mods for M10 i might give it a try. I might like it lol.
I used the Healy avenger and the immunity drone haha
But at times those things would be stuck in a wall and i died because of just that.
M11 i’m pretty much a god with Zane haha.

Wait… you don’t love farming hundreds of hours for weapons just so they become absolutely useless in mayhem because opponents are immune?

Mostly rolled fire immunity because i didn’t use it and focused on cryo haha

Mayhem is nothing but nonsense , it doesn’t make the game better or challenging or fun if it did people would not have ask for a level without it and gbx would not have gave it to them and the only reason they did was because people were quitting the game .

Infinite rerolls without penalty is pretty much the same as being able to pick modifiers, just implemented in the worst and most annoying fashion possible. Nothing prevents me from getting exactly the modifier combo I want except time invested, and saying effectively “sure you can get your desired combo you just need to spend 20 minutes rerolling every time you choose this mayhem mode” is asinine.
Being able to just choose the desired modifiers from the options within the “slot” (easy, medium, hard, very hard) it fills would do a TON to move me off of Mayhem 4 and Mayhem 8, which are chosen primarily due to the low number of modifiers and thus relatively easy rerolls.
In general the whole mayhem system is a mess, but this is remarkably low hanging fruit, an incredibly easy way to make it substantially better with zero downsides. Think it’ll ever be implemented? I have my doubts.

If you could pick your modifiers they would have to reduce the amount of loot and whatnot you get just like on M11 to balance it. At this point they are better off just allowing a toggle to modifiers and putting the M11 penalty on ANY mayhem level as why would you play on M11 if you could play on M10 picking the easiest modifiers with no setback?
Why? You can currently pick your modifiers. You just need to reroll enough times. So how would it affect balance at all? Also M11 is patently stupid IMHO, since easy modifiers are net boons. Why would I ever play on M11 instead of on M8 with Speed Demon and Holy Crit?

Exactly! Why would you be rewarded more for making your life even easier when the mode that is meant to make mayhem less chaotic and more classic takes XP and loot away? It would not make sense for mayhem levels to keep their same benefits if you could just pick and choose what you want with no effort or time investment. That is why they would have to lower the amount of loot and I believe anyone who thinks rationally would agree. Lootsplosion, speed demon and etc make your life way easier, you don’t deserve full benefits if you are making your life in game easier with no RNG or time rerolling…
When you play videogames higher difficulty normally equals better rewards. If you could just pick and choose the best modifiers, which include Lootsplosion by the way! It would just be a bad move for player retention and people would farm stuff out even quicker leading to quicker burnout then people having to reroll to get what they want. Gaming is a privilege and you are not granted everything in the game just for buying it, you have to deal with how the devs intended it to be played systems and all. To act as though just because it is “Your free time and you deserve to edit the experience how you want because feelings” is to be unrealistic. The game does not become what the player wants all the time and they arent gonna allow people to simply pick modifiers without a cost ever if I had to guess XD.

This is how I’ll play Borderlands 3 in the future. I told you the modders will get it right.

Rerolling Mayhem mods is bad for player retention, hence why M11 exists.
You literally just have to reload the modifiers until you get what you want. There is no inherent difficulty increase deserving of special consideration in pressing X for 20 minutes. Inconvenience isn’t a positive.
