Can't pick Taiidan in the campaign?

Do you work for Gearbox?

@jim1 Possibly but is that really such a bad thing? it’s cool, and ironically, PERFECT for a DLC.

If it popped up I’d snap it up. But I would feel a little suckered all the same.

Ehh… I wouldn’t. and lets be honest, it will be pretty dang cheap too.

More the Principal of the thing really… The notion of extracting something from an existing game as a way to sell it back to you at a later date just doesn’t feel right. Now offer up another fleet we never had access to before and I’m throwing money at the screen with a smile on my face

The original audio files had lines for both factions. What was the reason they couldn’t re-use them again?

To be honest i have no idea why other they saw the numbers of how many people wanted the game and they decided to “rush” the game out the door which is a common practice now a days

Release a game at Functional condition (60-80% done) patch the rest later or sell it as dlc

seems like normal practice to me.

it may be normal now… but back years ago games where finished and the game had no where near as many bugs and if it did people would not buy but sadly now a days its to be expected which is sad since people are just happier with lower quality…

Not really, you guys are talking as if we actually PLAYED as Taidan…I am not asking for that I simply want to use their ships as my faction in the campaign. This is not a Lore situation…it is a simple option where you the player gets to choose what your ships look like in the campaign.

We call them taidan ships but I didnt play as taidan back in 1999 I played the proper story I just used the taidan ships.

There is no additonal voice acting or anything like that. You simply use different ships…not alter the original lore/story.

Even in HW2 it’d not be a big deal reall,y if you simply step away from the whole “this ship is that faction” way of thinking. All ( well I think) the races have fighters, vettes, frigs, destroyers and so on…changing the way they look for you the player in a single player campaign does not have to alter any story elements

I don’t know what you were talking about, I always played as Taiidan, and the dialogue always referred to the bad guys as “Kushan.” Both sides were equally valid until Cataclysm. The only reason Kushan get to be on the cover is because they have the more majestic looking mothership.

I liked the moral ambiguity it lent to a story about space genocide.

I like the idea they stuck with the Kushan as the poster boys because their mothership fitted better on the front of the box, that like one step up from tossing a coin for it  but joking aside I think zakua is just saying it would be nice to be able to use the other fleet assets without the need to have the altenate voice overs and just pretend their both the Kushan.
Assuming the lack of remastered voice work is the reason we didn’t get to use them this time.

It said something about warning the kushan on mission 4 even when you were the kushan race. I’m pretty sure that was a mistake. They corrected it in the remaster. If your taiidan in the original hw1, the enemy is suppose to be kushan. And if your Kushan, the Taiidan are suppose to be the enemy.

I always played the Taiidan in the campaign because I preferred the style of the ships better. I don’t really care if the game refers to me as Taiidan or Kushan; we are the Exiles no matter what fleet we’re flying. I would prefer to have access to either fleet returned to the menu options as it was originally.
