Can't reinstall DLC on Xbox One from Xbox 360

If I get my character from my Xbox 360, will that delete the character I already have?

First, I need to double-check: you’re using the Handsome Collection edition of BL2 on your XB1, correct?

For 360 -> HC XB1:

  • Load the character on the 360
  • Start the session and change your character’s name at the nearest Quick Change, then save-quit
  • Choose the ā€œUploadā€ menu option
  • Launch HC BL2 on the XB1
  • Choose the ā€œDownloadā€ menu option and select the SAVE AS NEW option in the dialog box

Not if you Save as New, as @VaultHunter101 pointed out.

I’m pretty sure it’s not the Handsome Collection. I’ll try this anyway, and thanks.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to support if need be: http://support.gearboxsoftware.com

If you’re playing the backwards-compatible version of BL2 (the one that launches the 360 emulator on the XB1) then you WON’T be able to use the upload/download functions, and you WON’T be able to move the save without over-writing the old one. Backwards-compatible version saves have to be in your 360 Cloud Sync folder, and you can’t have multiple versions of the same save.

I guess I’ll try contacting support, then.

If it’s the backwards compatible version, you’ll see the familiar XBox 360 start up animation and logo. If it’s the Handsome Collection edition, you’ll see the normal 2K and GBX logos, followed by one for Iron Galaxy (the studio that did the port). (For TPS, it’ll be Armature instead of Iron Galaxy).

When I start, it plays the Xbox start up animation.

I sent an email to Gearbox, and they told me to contact Microsoft or something. I guess I’ll do that.

OK, so it’s the backwards compatible version, and the game thinks it’s running on a 360. If you had purchased the DLC on your old physical 360, then you should have it on your XB1 as well. I’m not sure how to fix that, since I don’t have the backwards compatible version. MS support it is, I suppose.

One thing I can tell you that may be helpful: once the game has launched, you can get into the virtual 360 system menus by pressing both the Options and Start buttons on your controller simultaneously. It works the same as pressing the XBox button on your 360’s controller.

Good luck - hope you get it all sorted!

Yep, I’ll do that. Thanks for the help!
