Captain Flynt drop rates

I got a Th Fists from Sparky once, from Loot Midgets and from Marcus Train.

I got one from a chest. That’s right, a plain old red chest. The captain has never given me one.

I totally understand the satisfaction of farming an item and actually getting it to drop, however, if it’s frustrating you as much as you are expressing then there’s no shame in using the threads here to trade for one. I’ve played for over 3 years and have a few items I’ve never received via farming but trading for them proved successful.

Thing is though man, I wanna be able to get it with a character of any level without having to request a trade every time and wait for someone of the same or similar level to agree upon a trade. All I’m asking Gearbox for is just a reliable source to get the gun I want after a fair amount of farms and not worry about a glitch

I just got one from the son of Flynt on the first playthrough of this dlc tonight. So this confirms that he does drop the thunderball f. Unfortunately, its a couple of levels below but nonetheless I’ll gladly take it

It’s a decent source to get gear usually associated with a particular boss or even legendary class mods. Once you’ve beaten the dlc Tinder Snowflake is a quick kill for just about any character- just rinse and repeat as desired…

@stuarthome3 - Its the one door in borderlands has a magic split. Coming back in just takes you to the Southern Shelf.

@dhunt1232 - Don’t waste your time on C.Flynt he’s always been a waste of time. Keep plugging away at Sparky as his loot drop is bigger and you’ll definitely get one easier this way. That’s why the guide I did on the Thunderball Fists was on Sparky, not his dad. Edit: Don’t trade, most of the stuff is just duped or gibbed. Get it yourself, then you’ll have the satisfaction of getting it.

Warning someone of the dangers of trading due to shady exploits is one thing but to flat out recommend ā€œdontā€ is another. Trading is a viable option, gearbox themselves included it in the game. Unfortunately it isn’t always used for what it was intended. Maybe recommending someone 1st trust the player they trade with would be a better way of wording it. I farm several hours daily to get legit gear and have met others here who do the same. You may not prefer trading but you don’t have to pigeon hole a group of the community who do with implicit statements. I respect your right to have your opinion on the subject but at least afford others the right to do the same. We are all here because we have a passion for this game.

Also. dhunt1232 I don’t know what system you’re on but if you’re on ps4 I’ll gladly help you farm a thunderball fist as having 2 in your game could increase your chances of seeing that prize drop. If you’re on ps4 feel free to add and message me and we’ll go from there. I also still have a ps3 if that helps. Oh yeah, PSN is: UNLO4D3D247

Darth has been a long time friend and I’m sure he didn’t mean to discredit every trader. I can assure you he doesn’t have an elitist attitude, doesn’t start flame wars or feels entitled to tell other people how to play this or any other game, so I suppose he just worded his post quickly.

As a fact of the matter however I agree with the core statement of his post.

GBX not wanting people to have any form of duping, cheating or glitching discussed on their boards is one thing, but the hypocrisy by us players at times is pretty funny.

In fact I’d go as far as saying that nobody, not even the most ā€œhonestā€ and ā€œlegitā€ traders (putting the " " here because I too would never judge people for how they decided to play a game they have paid for, to each his own), trade legitimately all the time, so I understand his statement ā€œdon’t trade if you don’t want duped or gibbed stuff (instead get it on your own and you’ll also have the satisfaction of getting it)ā€.

(don’t misunderstand me now please, the following statements are not directed at you personally but generally at all of us players and traders)

Even if you farm all your gear on your own, please don’t come to me and claim that you really traded that perfect gun or shield you had without keeping a copy for yourself. Even if you really were one of the few people that doesn’t do this, the keyword is few here.

Furthermore, if you trade with other people you can never be sure how legitimate their stuff is, even if you know they farm lots of stuff on their own and you trust them, you just can’t.

Perfect gear, especially the hard to farm one, is very, very likely to be gibbed. Even if you had if from somebody you trust which had if from somebody he trusted which again had it from somebody he trusted etc., that Hide of Terra with max roid and Maliwan capacitator giving it elemental resistance, that Practicable Interfacer with Hyperion grip or that all Maliwan Puissant Norfleet is most definitely gibbed.
The same goes for all the perfect gear the big youtubers for this game used, and that’s a fact (even admitted, but most of them played on PC where gibbed items didn’t break any ToS).

Want numbers?
Getting a perfect Hide of Terra is a 1 in 729 chance (9 bodies * 9 batteries * 9 capacitators, and that’s not even considering a particular elemental resistance but any of the 3). Now with the hide dropping once every what, 50 to 100 kills from Terra and nowhere else, surely everybody can grasp the odds for ever getting a perfect one.
By comparison, quest farming for a Slag Evisceration Rubi is a 1 in 32 chance (8 possibilities in the accessory slot * 4 in the elemental slot), and everybody that has farmed for one on his own knows how long it can take to get one…

So yeah, I’d say questioning the legitimacy of traded items is understandable. If you mind the chances of your traded gear just being a copy or constructed is another thing, but his statement isn’t too far off.

Disclaimer: I don’t want to make this look like I come in defense of a mate or something, I’m sure Darth will speak for himself once he sees this, but I really understand his statement.

Yes, I was a bit too explicit

I used to give away loads of stuff so trading is viable, and as you said, you should really get to trust other players before hand or know they are legit. I used to trade a lot in the old forum, and it was pretty clear to see most threads were filled with ā€˜perfect’ gear which was kinda farcical really, and even people with big threads were untrusty. I was given some modded stuff from one guy who had a big trade thread, and that’s why I never did again, and lost the trust of most online.

If the OP dhunt is newish to the game, I’d say try as hard as you can to get it yourself first. But I do understand why people trade, and it’s perfectly acceptable. Wish we could in Desinty!! lol

Spoken like a man with 3 Gjallarhorns haha.

Wait, all that youtubers who upload videos use voldemort.exe to get their stuff?.

It seems I’m quite innocent yet.

@UNLO4D3D247 unfortunately bro it’s on Xbox One but I appreciate the offer

I had all my characters saved on my 360 and it would’ve only made sense for me to get it on Xbox One so I could upload all my characters

I’ve noticed a decent amount of people say they got the Thunderball on their first playthrough… Could it have an increased drop rate for the story portion of the dlc?

Understood. Sorry I couldnt help you any further.

What in the hell in that!! Never heard of it. I thought everyone used g*&%*£…

And don’t pigeon hole all YouTube channels, as some are honest. If you looked in my back pack, every item is what I’ve got farming and mostly pretty crap parts etc. But I know what you mean, anyone with 4 or 5 perfect Interfacers has nowhere to hide

Yeah, prefer to refer as ā€œvoldemort.exeā€ than ā€œthat thing whose name starts with G and ends with Dā€.
Got an infraction in the old forum because of that xD

Even though we got it on our first playthrough that was quite a surprise as we were just curious. Since we haven’t played it and reading Darth’s advise on sparky we felt compelled to download and try it. I might try a few times today and note the results.
