Celebrate Two Years of Mayhem!

Enjoy five weeks of mini-events and some surprise goodies to celebrate the anniversary of Borderlands 3 !

Two years since launch and Borderlands 3 is still going strong, all thanks to you—the Borderlands community. There’s been plenty of BL3 mayhem made since our previous Year in Review check-in, including the launch of the Director’s Cut add-on (with its raid boss, story missions, behind-the-scenes content, and Vault Cards), the long-awaited Crossplay Update, and in-game additions like Crazy Earl’s Reroll Machine and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine. To celebrate the second anniversary of Borderlands 3 on September 13, 2021, we have five weeks of mini-events lined up to show our appreciation for your passion and support!

Starting August 12, the fan-favorite Loot the Universe series of mini-events that reward you with loads of Legendary loot for seeing (then shooting) the planetary sights will be back. Each week during Loot the Universe, Borderlands 3’s planets will take turns becoming a bastion of better drops, with specific types of Legendary loot having increased chances of dropping in one of that planet’s zones. And of course, you’ll get to keep all the bonus Legendary loot you find during these mini-events!

Just like last year, each planet’s affected zones have their own dedicated Legendary weapon type (Pistol, Shotgun, SMG, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or Heavy), and may also have increased chances for Legendary gear types (Class Mods, Artifacts, Shields, or Grenade Mods). It’ll be up to the community to discover which kinds of Legendary loot drops where, so mark your calendars:

  • Week 1 (9:00 AM PT August 12 to 8:59 AM PT August 19) - Pandora
  • Week 2 (9:00 AM PT August 19 to 8:59 AM PT August 26) - Promethea
  • Week 3 (9:00 AM PT August 26 to 8:59 AM PT September 2) - Eden-6
  • Week 4 (9:00 AM PT September 2 to 8:59 AM PT September 9) - Nekrotafeyo

The fun doesn’t stop after your galactic tour. Starting September 9 at 9:00 AM PT, we’re kicking off two more mini-events happening in tandem: Mayhem Made Mild, where you’ll only encounter Easy modifiers in Mayhem Mode, and Show Me the Eridium, which grants increased Eridium drops and Eridium item discounts.

We’ve got even more planned for the anniversary on September 13, but we don’t want to spoil the surprise just yet—so be sure to check back for details closer to the big day.

Everyone who owns Borderlands 3 will want to take advantage of these exceptional mini-events before the whole shebang ends at 8:59 AM PT on September 16. Thanks for making so much mayhem in Borderlands 3 these past two years, Vault Hunter—it wouldn’t be the same without you!

I’m hoping for another round of Bonus Boss Loot, that was an excellent event.

As I said in another thread: 2 years already? It has certainly flown by. Looking forward to the anniversary event. Crossing fingers for another round of content being announced!

Is history gonna repeat it’s self where they launch a great looting event and then increase the level cap a few weeks later after the events.

I can’t see the point for the event " Mayhem made mild " nobody play on M10 or lower

Any ideas what “the surprise” could be?

They specifically said in the relevant update notes “final level cap raise to 72”. So I very much doubt it.

I’m truly hoping @Rumplebunny is right !!!

Gearbox is known to be unpredictable. Plus I think with most looting evens a few weeks later came a level cap increase. I do hope the cap is not increasing though.

I primarily played at Mayhem 1 when not leveling characters for the first year I had the game (Steam player) and leveled characters up at level 2 or 4. I switched to Mayhem 6 for the new level cap. I play with all four characters and don’t follow any guides or build strategies. I prefer to experience the game in a way where all skills and gear are viable, hence the lower level. I only upped it recently to expedite going from 65 to 72, and finally farming otherwise unattainable weapons.

There are still a lot of newer players coming to the game as it continues to go on sale, who are just getting the swing of the gameplay mechanics, and only playing on lower mayhem levels. This will be a chance for them to try to farm the mayhem 4 and 6 exclusive gear with less trouble.

small problem is that the Hail exists. Might not be the best AR but will help gear up.

Yeah but for me it’s not enjoyable it’s here just to make the game more frustrating , Mayhem modifier was a pain to play with and not fun , you can make the jump to M11 really easily now , so for me this event is useless but i understand what you saying it’s just my point of view

In a dream world this would be hinting at a new takedown but I’m not going to get my hopes up just yet.

A raid boss in a closed arena like Hemovorous would be more realistic expectation IMO. It would certainly take way less resources than a full fledged Takedown.

That being said, support for the game has been pretty good in comparison to previous games, so I can’t complain if this is the end of the line. I just hope they take all the good from this game (pretty much everything but the writing), refine the things that could’ve used more work (like anointments) and use all their knowledge to make Wonderlands and BL4 the best they can be.

I think basically everybody plays on m10? On a reroll they like which they never touch
