Sure can. In pvp (mostly for altering playstyles this is, as pve is very much go with what you prefer.) when the team roster pops up look at what you are against. Normally I go all in toxin and spike jump slow for melka as she becomes a very good harassment and flanking unit with her adde mobility and venom left from spike hump that also slows (first helix) as the game progresses I go for cooldowns over AOE or damage of abilities as I hardly use CC for her but spam toxin bullets and toxic abilites for the damage over time, due to her speed and ability to surge forwards and upwards I push her into a group with LB then spike RB and then fall back from the slowed enemies while pushing my ult at them. Shooting pretty much all the time and the hit again the moment I am charged again. If one breaks off to escape hunt them down. The dot will kill them. If you go the other route you can have a more mobile but slightly less DoT melka for more harassment than squad control but she is still potent. Its the flexibility of movement and venom that I like. Ghalt is ether control (chain and trap combo.) of if helixed right a DPS monster that pulls softer targets from the pack to kill off. Or to pull a fleeing enemy back into solid slug range. Personally I like Whisky most with melka a close second Ghalt I am only just starting to use and I haven’t got a gear set I like and feel comfortable with for him yet.
I’m awful with firearms but I do enjoy Benedict. However Gal is my super fav. Granted, I know I’m not the best but coming from games involving sword use, Gal’s style is familiar and comfortable to me. The only downside is that when a particular mob glitches out out of reach, I’m SOOL. I really wanted to get into Ambra coming from a support background in RPGs but I play too offensively to play her well (even though I’ve seen some destructive Ambras ).
I’ve actually got 4 that I have mastered or am working on mastering, Rath, Ghalt, Mellka, and Alani. I have mastered Rath and Ghalt. I love all 4 characters for different reasons. Rath is an in your face assassin/damage dealer that is a blast to get a bunch of kills with but can get caught in a bad situation and dispatched quickly if not careful. Ghalt is so fun to play with as you can outsmart people with mines and pull people into the thick of the fight that don’t want to be there. Mellka is like a mosquito, poisons, an annoyance to the opposing team, and tough to kill. Typically gets more assists than kills but not always the case. Alani is a jack of all trades, can damage, heal, and traverse the battlefield with her surf ability and is very fun to play with. Below are my best matches with each character:
Mastered Kleese, then Rath. Playing a lot of El Dragon lately and also enjoy Kelvin/WF. I want to like Attikus but he feels very…boring. You leap in, hit your E and then just pound fists for AGES because his CD’s are awful.
Been meaning to try Caldarius one of these days as well.
I really like Alani, And because she was the first battleborn i played. I am geting better at her then anyone ells. I do want to try Ambra out tho.
Okay, after playing a bit more, Shayne and Aurox are still my top, but I find myself playing them less as I want to try out others. I’ve actually come to like Rath more now, I think it was just in the S&A melee mode of just stay there, take damage, but heal it off and give more out. I’ve come to realize with Rath that moving about is a lot more effective for him then just staying in one place.
I gave Toby a show on the mission The Sentinel and started annihilating things with the Beam Splitter helix (including the bosses, the two mini-bosses went down in less than a minute each).
I played a bit as Kleese and he’s okay as long as your team is up for being supported. I’ve enjoyed him more in story missions than I have in PVP.
