They aren’t “random” but they’re based on HW2 ships and slightly adjusted, often heavily nerfed.
You can see it’s basically the same weapon as a Hiig interceptor, except the damage roughly halved and made a 2 instead of 3 shot burst.
And a 2.1s attack interval isn’t that slow…
I think they’re being made similar to how I have them in the mod, where they have a weapon similar to their HW1 one, and it’s a long interval with high accuracy so they have a high chance to kill fighters on each attack and mediocre vs corvettes, sort of “assassin” like.

If the cloaking system would be like it used to be in hw1 then all would be justified when it comes to cloaked fighters. Maybe someone forgot about it in the process? Still will this input there’s nothing more than we can do right now. This issue has been brought up and we can only hope and wait for it to get fixed.

Looking at the changed stats from the sneak peek of the upcoming patch it seems to have been addressed already.

Yep. They’ll be far better.
Where can I find this ‘sneak peek’ of the upcoming patch?

scole has posted links twice with stuff zipped up in the large sticky post on this forum.
They’re being made similar to how they are in my mod, basically, which is similar to how they were in HW1. Though the cloaking ability isn’t change yet, nor is it in my mod. How it works is rather mysterious to me.

Seems like they could just give cloak fighters a really large cloak time, like 60 minutes.

Well the problem with how it currently is is you can’t even tell if they’re cloaking, fading into recloaking, or not cloaked at all, or what. There’s no indication.

I thought they went transparent. Not as obvious as the old wireframe, but no different than what the cloak gen does. Was my mind playing tricks on me?

Really? I’ve tried it out a few times and really didn’t see anything at all except the white energy bar depleting.

You need to be zoomed in quite a bit… Right in its face in fact to see the transparent effect
zoom out and its not so easy to spot. In this screenshot only the fighter on the extreme left is cloaked

Huh yeah. They don’t look translucent at all in the second picture to me. Maybe that’s what’s happening.

the old wire frames were a bit brutal to look at,
But it was more obvious whether they were active or not. A slightly stronger white lining to the updated version might make them a little easier to spot.

Yea, It also threw a ‘C’ up next to the health bar. Maybe if we just had that back?

I completely agree.
I would argue the wireframe appearance needs to return. As crude as it looks, it best conveys to the player that the ships are cloaked especially when viewing them at a distance and for smaller sizes like fighters - I do not imagine that simply lowering the opacity of the current “transparent” effect would make it easier in the same situation but I’d certainly like to be proven wrong with other suggestions.
A white outline or glow (which I think Jim1 suggested) could do well.
Does anyone know if cloaked enemy ships in HW:R that are detected by proximity sensors still retain their transparency effect to the player who is detecting them or does it appear entirely opaque as if the modules weren’t turned on?

Man, trying to draw on a memory of over 12 years ago. I think they were wireframes to the person with proxies also. But I could be wrong. I know it looked both neat and horrible to see frigates appearing and disappearing as they fired under enemy cloak until you got proxies up.
In HW2, do ships only decloak when firing, or when attacking?

Yeah, in HW1 and Cataclysm, cloaked enemy ships that are detected are visible to the detector with their wireframe look.
I’m wondering if in HW2 and HW:R, in the same situation, do detected cloaked ships retain their partial transparency or does it become opaque?
If they do fix the cloaked fighter so that it uncloaks only when it’s firing (as it originally was intended), then Kushan is going to get a good buff. Assuming they fix it’s damage as well, since that is more than a little bit off. It really should be stronger than the interceptor. It’s a hi-tech ship.

Well the stats they’re being changed to look pretty good for a start.
They could still use the cloak working properly. They’re such late tech and all, and fighters are just so weak in this game by virtue of their mechanics.
