@kargl92 get back on your secondary and launch the game. Leave the Epic launcher open. If your stuff is still there, just exit the game via prompts. The epic launcher should then auto sync, and your main pc should be good to go.
Make sure there is internet access on both machines

So I am on my laptop and my progress from last night isn’t saved. Should I get back to my main PC and sync my game to the cloud? does that action replace the cloud with your local file or change your local file to the cloud file?
@mconrad512 I am no expert here, but from my experience the Epic launcher syncs your local save to their servers. Then when you get on a different device, if the local save isnt as new as the one they have synced, it pushes the most recent save to the device.
So yes, get back on main pc, launch the game, leave the epic launcher open, log in your character(s), and exit the game via prompts. You should see the little sync bar on Borderlands activate for a sec or two. At this point the game should be synced up and ready to play on your laptop next time you launch

Great, that was my thought. Will attempt and post back with how it ended up working for me.

You should also be able to sync manually through the client and select the direction (to local or cloud).

Same here. Lost game data twice. I am done with this game for now. . . .I suggest you ensure previous versions is turned on for windows 10. Of course I was an idiot and it was turned off due to having a one drive system. . .

Using the “Sync now” from my desktop wasn’t forcing a file update to my laptop for some reason. So I copied the game file and used dropbox quick to replace the file on my laptop. This prompted a cloud alert when I launched the game, I choose to use local file and got my progress from desktop properly transferred to my laptop.

After reading about people losing progress like this, I decided to disable cloud syncing. If I want to play the game on my laptop at some point, I’ll just copy over the save files manually. Seems much less risky than Epic’s cloud-based implementation.

According to the changelog for the latest Epic launcher update the cloud save thing has now been fixed, but I’m still a little wary heh. (I’m keeping it turned off since I don’t really need it, since I’m not splitting my time on another machine…)

After much experience with general computer backup stuff, I’m a huge fan of systems that do incremental backups. I think if I was playing on PC I’d rather have that as an option than just “most recent save”.
I still feel really bad for folks that have lost multiple hours and gear.
Epic backed a dump truck full of money into 2k’s offices to get an EGS exclusive. I’m pretty sure that was the only criterion by which they determined EGS was “better”.

Just had my savedata overwritten by an out of sync cloud save, lost about 7 hours of progress
Doesn’t seem to be any way to recover or restore save files to their previous versions either, and they have no backup system for them.
Get your ■■■■ together epic.

This is a repost from another forum, but I am op

The launcher of BL3 on Pc (Epic Games Launcher) had a pop up today asking whether or not you wanted to load from a cloud save or from local storage. i chose cloud storage curious because i didn’t remember saving a cloud save. like most other games you can switch between cloud saves and local data saves. However upon my selection i was not met by a “Are you sure? This will Overwrite all Data” or a “Warning You are about to ■■■■ your shizz up”. Instead when loading up the game i was met by a level 7 character that i’d created on my first day of having bl3. I checked to see if i could recover my data from my original LEVEL 34 character with 60+ hours played. It was overwritten by epic games because they didn’t express the fact that they’d be overwriting all data instead of allowing players to switch between local and cloud. Therefore i sent them (Epic Games) this following support ticket.
Forgive my foul language because i’m beyond heated
"My problem is your utter lack of care. I was given a choice of data to use for Borderlands 3. I didn’t realize i had 2 save files. I chose the wrong save file believing that i could switch to local saves at any time. why didnt you give a warning? an “Are you sure about this? This will Overwrite your data” was all that was needed. I was legitimately disappointed from the moment i downloaded BL3 and found out the launcher would be from Epic Games and it’s quite obvious that i was right to be. You’ve really outdone yourselves.I never would’ve thought that I’d have to make sure my save files were safe from a company that didn’t even create the game. I feel like getting a refund now. i went from level 34 to level 7. 60+ hours worth of playtime. If you can find a way to save others from what happened to me instead of changing your help page from “uh it’s your fault, so make sure you choose the right save file” to ANYTHING that’ll help that’d be ■■■■■■■ great.
Don’t even get me started on how all of my keys were wasted.
Thank You Careless Imbeciles
Ps: Forgive me I’m quite irritated and mad, but you guys are just straight up dumb if you thought that was a good idea to start with. Like who the hell doesn’t get to switch between save locations instead of overwriting alll save files? Who does that? AND Who does that without a ■■■■■■■ Warning?
And PLEASE don’t get mad that i’m calling you out because your launcher is faulty. just get it fixed. making it possible to switch between locally stored and cloud based would be great, Pumpkin. Thanks"
Whether or not this will be fruitful i have no idea, but id like to let people know that if this has happened to you then speak up. i know for some people it’s no big deal but this is the equivalent of them being Mcdonalds window workers looking at the food you just bought, dropping the food that you ordered on the ground, then saying oops sorry but that’s your fault you should’ve been holding it tighter.

I sent in a support ticket and they literally just redirected me to 2k’s support after a basic apology.
Ridiculous when they’re the ones who should be held accountable for their own stoneage platform.
You’d think it’d be an obvious feature to have a basic revert or backup system in place along with your cloud sync, to prevent any issues exactly like this.
The excuse of ‘‘Well you should’ve just have backed them up yourself’’ are only putting a blind eye to it, when Epic should be focusing on improving their launcher to a competent standard in today’s world.

That’s great and I’m glad they fixed it so it hopefully does not happen to anyone else, but it certainly doesn’t help people that have already lost characters or bank contents.
I kind of doubt that the bank issues are due to cloudsave issues though.
Is there a way to access the cloud’s saved because this literally just happened to me. It deleted my lvl 50 Moze and gave me my 2 lvl 4’s that i made at day 1
I played for 4 hours yesterday and i got a message that said we need to update your cloud save files and I did but I still lost all of my levels from 12 to 19. How is there not a post from devs yet after this has been happening for over a week by so many different people?

I highly recommend backing up your saves and disabling epics cloud save all together. If you have multiple pc’s its better to link your documents folder through one drive than epics terrible service.
