Cobra scrounging query

No problem
Had to dig around a bit but here’s the updated link to that post/thread.

Oh and I’ll leave the tool for updating old forum links here

Nice digging! You are a true forum archaeologist

It didn’t take long at all with the 4-player glitch. It’s just way too time consuming now though. It’s not reasonable to expect a solo player to put ten hours into just spawning an enemy, especially when that enemy might just fly away, chase a helicopter, get hit by a passing train, or simply vanish for no apparent reason.

Getting OOO can take a long time and some luck in legit single player,
It can take hours if you’re very unlucky, but usually it takes less than an hour.

I’m with you there! I’m on PC so I could… [long silence] but I prefer playing with friends anyway. I find both Vermi and Dexi a bore to solo.

I’m well aware of how to do it, but he doesn’t spawn. It’s just another broken mechanic. Like many of the other things in this game that were and still are. So your just another lucky one to be able to spawn him, so you get the drop.

2 now, but as @BlackHeartV says there are only a few burner enemies so you have low chances, for me I power level there and it’s very possible for me to average around 150 or more runs in a 3½ hour period, As for drop rates in there it’s very hard to say as I don’t ck the floor very often (and after a set time the oldest Gear that drops starts to fade away), I watch for legends as I run tier 3, but very seldom pay attention to anything else

Darth - I’ve spawned OOO dozens of times. It’s not luck. - there’s a specific strategy that guarantees a spawn, if you have the ability to fight mind-numbing boredom.

How are trying to spawn him? I mean, specifically, where are you and what strategy are you using?

heh heh…

It took me a fair amount of time to get OOO to spawn; I’d love to know how to guarantee a sighting. I don’t know how many Badass Savages I leveled up to have them capped with no OOO around.

Bl 2 needs another Loot Hunt. I got my first Twister during that event and I have never seen OOO in any of my games.

Agreed. We need to make them kneel down for 2 hours without rest so they’ll learn from their mistake.

It’s okay, Hattie. Those HH packs aren’t considered cannon. :kissing_heart:

The wiki admins (of which I am not one) will revert changes that don’t have evidence to back them up. If someone were to post a video of a Cobra dropping in Pete’s Bar, then the change wouldn’t be reverted. That policy is in place because of all of the misinformation that used to be on it. Hell, we even had a topic back on the old forums talking about fixing the wiki.

Yes it does.

Huh. That’s weird. I’m sure I’ve seen you using a twister with several different characters… How did you get the others? :innocent:

:relieved: I just think they’re good together.

It is true people say a lot of bizarre things about bl2. Hopefully the forum post will be enough evidence…

I’m not telling.

Yes they are. He brings her out of her shell and she keeps his crazy in check.
Bl 2 needs another Loot Hunt.
Seriously, while I’d love to have more of these for BL2, I don’t imagine they’ll put the time or energy into it. That said, I am hoping that they learned a thing or two from their Gear Up Event and Loot Hunt promotions, and will make them a big part of BL3, from big ol’ things like the old Loot Hunt to little one-off things like “George’s drop rate will be tripled this weekend” or something. The game design lends itself to this, and I can’t imagine they aren’t incorporating SHiFT into BL3, so bring it on.

I got sick of farming so I figured out what ‘gibbed’ meant and I have enjoyed borderlands ten times as much. I can give you a cobra if you’re on PS3. I have 2 of them; damage and critical. Which do you prefer? When I saw my total playtime was over 22 days and I still had not seen several weapons I’d been trying to farm, I lost interest in wasting another several days to get off-level weapons or something with crap parts.

OK, I assumed this was well-known. You might already know this one, but maybe doubt it’s effectiveness. It is effective - the spawn is certain, although the process is long and boring.

Here it is:

You need to farm the savages before the Dexi fight. So, plant all the rid, then light the torches, kill the first wave of lesser savages/witch doctors until you get 2 UBA witch doctors and 3 BA savages.

You need to be in a vehicle, and you’re going to farm for OOO by despawning the tribe. So, once you have this group - 2 UBAWDs and 3 BASs - you need to strafe in a circle around the torch area. Don’t just drive, strafe - so that you’re always or mostly facing the center. You want to see where the enemies are, because you don’t want to injure any of them. Doing this will ■■■■■■ the evolution cycle.

With 2 WDs, the evolutionary process is twice as fast. Strafe around them while the WDs cycle through their animations. The leveling/healing animation will follow their tornado animation. When the savages have leveled to Ultimates, strafe for one more animation cycle. The WDs leveling spell will either level a UBAS to OOO or it will heal them, which you can recognize by the healing animation over their heads.

If all 3 UBASs heal, as opposed to one of them leveling to OOO, you need to despawn the group. You do this by driving to the lagoon past the lodge toward the entrance to Candlerakks Crag. You need to go just far enough into the water to trigger the save game symbol in the upper right corner of your screen. Now you have despawned the tribe. When you return to the torch area, the group will respawn as 2 UBAWDs and 3 BA savages, and you start the evolutionary process again.

Despawn by driving to the save point, return to the torch area to respawn, level up the BAs, rinse and repeat until you get OOO, or the Twister. It might take 15 minutes, it might take hours, if you’re unlucky. But he absolutely will spawn in any mode. It’s very boring. If you just can’t stand the boredom, pause the game. I’m on PC, so I pause and minimize to the tray when I’ve had enough.

Also, if you haven’t done this before, here are a few helpful tips:

 • Don’t injure or kill any of that group.

 • When you spawn OOO, you’ll want to isolate OOO from the WDs. You don’t want to kill them yet. Kill only OOO, don’t kill the WDs or the other UBASs. So, drive away from the torch area, toward where you first spawn in the DLC. then get out of your vehicle and get OOO’s attention by shooting him, drawing him toward you. Don’t kil the other UBAs. They’ll follow him, but don’t kill them. If OOO doesn’t drop the twister, or you want a better twister, you can despawn the group again. They will respawn with the dead OOO replaced by a new BA savage, and you can continue the process. This group is not the last wave, so you can kill and replace OOO with a new savage 3 times, if you don’t kill the other UBA savages.

 • If you touch a tornado at OP8 . . . don’t touch a tornado at OP8.

 • If any creatures spawn in the area, you need to kill them, otherwise the tribe will fight the creature and won’t despawn.

 • If the WDs cycles are too closely synced, the second WDs leveling/healing spell won’t count. For example, if you have 3 Supers, and the WDs are both in their tornado animations at the same time, the first will level the SBAs to UBAs, but the second spell, if performed too soon after the first, will result in the UBAs going into their leveling posture, but you will see no healing animation over their heads. When this happens, you need to strafe through one more cycle, because If you don’t see the healing animation over the UBA’s heads, the spell didn’t register.

So, that’s how you do it. It’s really boring, but OOO is a certain spawn, how long it takes depends on RNGs mood. Usually, it takes less than an hour, but it has taken longer. Not only is an OOO spawn certain, but you can spawn OOO 5 times from one torch lighting.
