Continued support and content post launch?

I just read the gearbox artist is starting to work on borderlands 3. Does that mean no more characters besides the 5 that was mentioned? Will be game keep getting balanced as knew characters are being put into the game? I really don’t want this game abandoned after a month or two.

From talking with the developers during the Early Access I know they are going to be supporting the game for a long time. They have a lot planned for the game. New modes, new maps, new characters. And that’s just the free stuff. They also have a lot of story content planned as well as skins and taunts that will be part of the paid DLC packs. I expect lots of great stuff.

Like with anything if the money is there the product will be there. If they can get through five characters and DLC packs for each (maps, modes, cosmetics, etc.) and the community is still super strong, I’m sure they’d provide more. Gearbox also seems to be a really player centric company so I feel good about the odds for even more content.

Once a game is launched it doesn’t need near the same number of people working on it to offer continued support and content. And I don’t think it is THE Gearbox artist, but A Gearbox artist. I feel quite certain they have more than one (although the one in question could be the lead artist)

In addition to the points above, do keep in mind Gearbox continued to provide post-launch content for Borderlands 2 for some time even though they were hard working on Battleborn behind the scenes. I don’t think we have anything to worry about in that regard. :^)

As some of the others already said: Its a Gearbox-game and so far I met no GBX-title that was abandoned early or not cared for. In that regard you can be sure to have support & care for 2 years minimum.

And artist sections of game companies are often bigger than you might think, I guess most Concept Artists are already working on BL3 material, because they have tons of BB-concepts in stock they created over the last 4-5years. (GBX works on BB a long time now^^)

At all: No worries!

Scott Kester is the art director for BL3. He was the lead concept artist for the previous games, and BB. This doesn’t mean that no artists are working on Battleborn. Far from it, I’m sure. Gearbox supported borderlands 1+2 for years post-launch, I don’t see BB being any different.

And they’re still supporting BL 2, TPS, and Homeworld, so I wouldn’t worry about support just drying up. It will eventually, but not until everything has been released and most of the bugs fixed.
