Well, he just listed all their games except acm in that tweet. Did they touch about all the games he listed? I didn’t get to see it.

And said nothing, that is (insert a bad word here).

Big first part on Battleborn, just a message for Borderlands saying they had nothing to say on it more than we already now, a part on DukeNukem 3D re-edition, and… that’s all :’(

Well, on the positive side, he did put it in his tweet, so I guess we can assume that they are still working on it to some degree.

“Guess”, “assume”, these are words customers shouldn’t probably have to use when it comes to products we consume from their business.

Someone really needs to just jump in and say…“Hey! We’re still working on it! Bye!” or something similar.

Exactly, I don’t need a time schedule or anything specific, just a quick sign of life and that the game is still being worked on would be all I need to hear to be happy.

However, I think it matters more what they do than what they say, and there has been a lot of good work involved.

Agreed, let’s just hope they really still are working in silence and will suprise us with an update

They restarted to work a few days ago, but apparently it is only the vr thing

You can see in steamdb history that steam builds were untouched in 2 months

And 6 days ago they started to do a lot of changes, mostly related with the vr thing.

That is kinda sad imo, I believe that vr is the future but it is a very embrionary technology, not to mention that the htc vive cost is just absurd.
I would rather get more content.

Yeah I agree, it will take a couple more years until VR becomes affordable and can potentially reach a wider audience and I honestly don’t see the appeal for rts games, first person games yes, but rts, not really (just my personal opinion, maybe I just don’t see all the possibilites yet ^^).

Putting the question of usefulness of VR for Homeworld aside, I don’t see how they will make the game run at consistent 180 fps (90 fps for each Screen) with such an old engine. Rts games are notorious for being CPU capped and the old engine is only using 1 core, so I don’t see how they will manage to get such a consistent high framerate.

and I wonder if the x86 architecture (and especially the 2GB memory limit associated to it) won’t be an even bigger problem than without VR

True, haven’t even thought of that ^^.

VR thing?

Now, I’m cool with new features and going above and beyond, but this game isn’t in beta and major features shouldn’t be implemented while the core game still needs lots of fixing (expect for maybe modding tools and what-not). Many of us do appreciate the work done thus far, but I haven’t found any who actually play the game mention anything about VR. Most of us just want to get balance and ship behaviors working and celebrate after all is said and done.

For future Homeworld titles, have at it… why not? For the current game, fixes and fulfilled promises would suffice.

To those actively working on the game and playing the game, I say thank you.

It would be nice if they actually told us what was going on so far. Their reason for not saying anything must be the most sound and reasonable ever.

Is anyone here using Twitter ? Then you could ask Randy Pitchford or some other big name from GBX about their plans for Homeworld Remastered, maybe that way we can get an answer, even if that answer would be along the lines of “we stopped supporting it”, that way we would at least have a definitive answer.

It sure does look like Gearbox are done with Homeworld Remastered. They even abandoned their new beta system like they did for the balance mod they introduced last year.

Not sure if I am really super concerned about them moving on now, after already having spent a year and a half on support for HWRM. However, Gearbox’s continued lack of a proper community manager for Homeworld is really aggravating.

@maelrizzo I don’t think bugging Pitchford is going to get you anywhere. As far as I am aware he isn’t personally invested in Homeworld. The decision to invest in Homeworld was one of the other executives, whose name I always keep forgetting.

Yeah I was referring to that guy, wasn’t sure if it was Pitchford and it was the only big name I remembered :stuck_out_tongue:

Well if they had fixed all major issues with the game I wouldn’t mind them moving on, but they actually introduced a new major bug (#666) with the introduction of proper formations in patch 2.0 so I expect them to fix what they broke before moving on. I totally agree on the lack of a community manager, that is something I’m missing as well.

All they have to do is fix a few serious bugs. That’s all. I’m still giving it time, but I’m pretty much losing all hope now.

Fool me once with ACM, shame on you. Fool me twice …

There will never be a third time.

I think Brian Martel was the dude that had the great idea to revive homeworld.

So… I guess its time for we (few) players left that own the game and play it fix this?

We have the tools, and capable people, not to mention the #666 bug is fixable, though it requires an almost complete redo of fighter ballistic and firing angles. So, after over a year of Gearbox teasing and neglecting, I don’t really care what they put out anymore. The more they try to change or fix, they highlight other broken areas and cause us grief.

Let no one forget the mass modding genocide they committed, leaving nearly all mods unplayable and a great exodus of casual home world players just disappear.

Now, I’m thankful for the game and tools they have put out. However, if you are promised food, and you have to wait days for a cold, half-cooked, partially soggy plate of steak and fries, manners aside you would reject that food. Whenever (if) their new plate of Homeworld: Steak and Fries comes out, I’d rather us players here in the mean time get using out microwave (modding tools) and make some awesome meals, cause Gearbox ain’t gonna’ do it.

I’ve been patient and kind thus far to Gearbox, but this is not longer acceptable, and reasoning puts those in charge and responsible for this project at fault.

Let’s eat, or lets starve. Who wants to get cooking?

I have been so patient and so damn grateful that my balls ache. I’m also starting to feel like a tool for defending gearbox especially since they are just ignoring customers pleas for a little communication. Seriously, ignoring your customers?

I do hope that modders can fix and complete the work that gearbox has been unable and seemingly unwilling to do. I’ll do what I can to support anyone willing to work with what has been left us. Not really sure some of these bugs can be tackled by modders though.

For sure, regardless of what happens with this homeworld IP, they have certainly lost my business.

@raynernycz At the end of the day it is only a video game. Most of us Homeworlders have already gotten over the situation. In time you will too. There are too many games out there to be continually grouchy about Homeworld. I recommend keeping an eye on a little indie game called Shallow Space. It takes cues from Homeworld, Nexus and even Sins.

If Gearbox comes out with a new Homeworld title, especially in conjunction with Blackbird, I’ll check it out. But for the present, anyone left should really just move on. I’d still say I got my money’s worth out of HWRM, but basing it on the flawed Homeworld 2 engine was always going to hold it back. I’m not sure if you can really blame the developers for that. Someone made an executive decision and folks like BitVenom were stuck trying to wrangle with ancient and tempermental code. At least they tried and got ballistics + formations in like we asked them to.
