Craw drop stats?

Have we ever thought of asking a GBX employeer(or former GBX employee) who worked on this how it works? +FRI, I mean.

I haven’t asked anyone. I’m quite sure they’re well aware of the perception that it is broken, but to my knowledge they have kept completely silent. I guess it couldn’t hurt to directly ask someone…

It’s supposed to increase the game wide Awesome Rating by 2.

Sez who?

Better question: Does it actually do this or is it Mr Placebo Effect Esquire?

Some one on the old forums emailed a dev and they said that. I forget which thread, though…

Oh ok. Well. Yep.
That’s a big fat broken.

You do realize that an Awesome Level difference of 2 would be almost impossible to detect without a truly giant data set (the effect is very small if it is working).

I dont suppose you have that awesome level thread on hand from the good old days do you? Listed everything from skag piles to lance chests.

I should be able to see it in the debug mode. Will check today.

He’s right you know. @MeltintheSun! We require you to kill Craw hundreds upon thousands of times more!

Pffft. but, by the time I’m done with this it’ll be well over 1000 kills.

If you can’t see it in FORTY THOUSAND weapons, which is where I’ll be within a few days, then as a practical matter it doesn’t exist.

The old forum seems to be broken today…at least for me; I can’t seem to load any threads due to a python error. Here is the link to the awesome level thread though:

Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I also can’t enable the debug mode cause I can’t see the thread telling me how :frowning:.

EDIT: looks like you have to put the archive date in the URL also. Here it is, working as of right now, but only the first page:

Man, I really hope they fix this.

But either way, with a 40k weapon and 40k item data set, the average rarity should show a difference if it is actually increasing the Awesome Level. IIRC Craw loot has an awesome level of 67. So, if it actually increases it by 2, then it would be at 69, which is a ~3% increase. If we assume that rarity scales with Awesome Level in a linear manner, that would mean I could expect to see a 3% increase in item rarity.

Overall, the average weapon rarities were 21.58 and 21.42 for FRI/non-FRI. That is only a 0.7% increase. We will see what Mordy shows, but 20,578 weapons is not an insignificant sample size. Can’t check right now, but I’m pretty sure that is FAR more than any of the old testing threads. Is that 0.7% difference real? If it is repeated by the Mordy data, then maybe so. But it’s awfully small…

Maybe @Joe_king can help us out with this…who else might we contact? Also, are the old forums dead on purpose, for good? I am sad.

Skimmed through that thread and it looks like FRI and AL was one of the first things they looked at, and it didn’t affect the AL visible in the debug mode. So that is answered, and I didn’t even have to do it!

tl;dr for that thread - using the debug mode, you can see the Awesome Level of the loot source that generated any given weapon. FRI doesn’t change it.

Seems like if it worked, you’d be able to see it.

Apparently it was not on purpose:

FRI Mordy is done. Of 10,571 weapons, 0 are eridians. That’s right, Craw did not drop a SINGLE Eridian weapon. Interesting.

Liar, he only drops Eridian weapons.

I honestly am rather astounded that not a single eridians weapon dropped. Me thinks very bad luck or someone forgot to add some items to Craw’s lootpool.

I couldn’t believe it at first. But, then I thought about it, and I can’t remember picking up a single one.

Anyway, some quick impressions:

  • average weapon rarity is right smack in the middle of the two Lilith data sets (LFRI = 21.58, LNFRI = 21.42, MFRI = 21.49)
  • Mordy does not find more pistols (repeaters or revolvers) than Lilith. Numbers are ~identical.
  • He does find more snipers, by about 10% (Bolt Action) and 15% (SemiAuto).
  • He found about 15% more burst-fire ARs. Machine guns are ~identical.
  • Less SMGs than Lilith by about 30%
  • As mentioned above, no eridians at all.
  • only 50% of the COMs Mordy found are for him, as opposed to 60% for Lilly (both FRI and non-FRI). I find this a little odd, and I’m wondering if SEI plays some role here.
  • relative distribution of all the parts looks ~identical.

Just for clarification purposes, I really do mean the loot pool and not your tally aka maybe Dev Anon forgot some code?
