Current gameplay problems and suggested solutions

Been playing as much as possible since release. Feedback at this point is as follows:

  1. Games are much too short, currently when playing incursion on overgrowth games average length is very short only allowing a character even on the winning side to attain only about level 5-6 this really dampens the experience as you rarely even get to use your most powerful skill. A primary reason for this is the extremely small map. If it was lengthened, even with dead space it would increase the quality.
  2. The game is painfully unbalanced. Game length plays heavily into this. 99% of matches that I have played have ended 100-0 once a team takes a few steps back its almost completely impossible to regain any ground. The ability to build your own turrets or accelerators on the enemy side of the map makes it even worse. The game is decided within the first 3 minutes who is going to win.
  3. Melee characters are extremely difficult to track movement with after closing distance with other characters. All it takes is a few jumps and your enemy can completely lose you. I can’t really come up with a solution for this as any sort of lock on would make it completely unfair, the best idea I’ve had is a possible 3rd person view but even that seems like it could easily be overpowered.

These are the issues which I have up to this point seen. Battle born has brilliant gameplay but a few tweaks definitely would go a long way

Hey thanks for taking the time to write this up!

Ive I’ve moved your thread in the mean time to the general discussion and beta feedback category.

Thanks again!

There needs to be a way to deal with characters going inactive. A co-op just got ruined by someone going afk. Which left us one short to open the path to the boss. And resulted in four people walking away right at the boss and getting nothing for their troubles.

I think a toon that is inactive for any stupid length of time should become vulnerable to friendly fire.

And then eat up all the extra lives?

Worth it.

  1. I have thought this too. Game lenght in my eyes could be 45 minutes. Longer game time becomes too long with such low level progression and quite fast respawn at mid game.

  2. I cant fully agree with this. Teams, team play and player skill is huge factor. I have plaid very equal and thrilling thight matches when teams and players have known even a bit what are they doing. In these thight matches in incursion game mode the clock has ran out when both sides points has been around 40. So based on points in these matches time limit could be 45 min, but with low level cap, players who have worked hard to earn advantage upon lower level champions loses their advantage which im not sure is good thing.
Meltdown timelimit is surely enough. 500 points and low level cap means It cant be prolonged. Even in my opinion meltdown matches could be slightly longer with higher time cap and higher points cap, but the low level cap restricts doing it.

Personally I think game length is fine and if anything story missions are too long.

Incursion does need some balance work though. Once the first sentry falls, it’s GG. There are just not enough defenses for the second sentry and it is insanely hard to come back to win once you’ve lost the first sentry. Compared to something like League of Legends, Incursion is just not as balanced. In LoL you can lose the first row of turrets, heck, even the second row of turrets and still come from behind to win. I’m not 100% how GBX should fix this issue. Part of the issue is that ledge overlooking the second sentry which provides a super safe space for the opposing team to attack from. It is hard to get up to (you have to go around to the back), defended by turrets, and has a heal station. Part of it is that the Shepherds start spawning for the team that beats the first sentry, why is the team that is winning get something to help steamroll the losing team? I mean, yes, super minions are a thing in LoL but they’re very late game after you’ve busted down three rows of turrets. It works for LoL, I think it’s terrible here. Finally, the second sentry just really doesn’t have enough defenses. So yeah, those are the issues, I’m not 100% sure how to fix them.

Yes, melee characters need some love. They’re powerful and you can do well with them. Galilea is straight OP and I love playing Shayne and Aurox, but it is way too easy to lose track of your target.
