I actually made this to hopefully help the people who are struggling and listening to YouTubers that you don’t have to follow everyone saying all their favorite weapons are useless. I like to help the community more than harm it. This community is just so toxic at times that it is a challenge to get any point of view across without someone attacking the idea. This very community almost made me never play BL2 again. Because I got attacked, made fun of, told I was wrong and stupid, for using certain weapons and builds in BL2 before getting to UVHM. I legit stopped playing the game for 2 years until I asked my friend if he wanted to try it, and he did. And we not only played BL2, but we played TPS as well. We enjoy the games how we want to enjoy them and tend to ignore the community. But with BL3 it is such a different experience that we looked at how others were playing and building, curious to their designs. But got met with the most hate and backlash I have ever seen since Destiny. I see comments on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram of people just asking for help and others just spamming modded weapons, or saying just to get better or stop playing the game. SOME people are nice and offer assistance, but it is hard to see when 80% of the comments are trashing on the game. Heck it seems a majority of the forums I jump into here still trash on the game. I just want to help those who are struggling, which is why I was asking for people to stop calling guns useless and start using different terms in order to help those who look for help. Borderlands is my second Favorite Series of all time, and I just want to help others enjoy it as well, it is just tough to get any opinion out there because of how toxic this community, and all gaming communities, have gotten over the years. But seriously, BL2 was almost just lost to me forever because of how a lot of the gamers in this community were acting. And from my perspective, that hasn’t changed at all. I want to help people, not gloat about anything.
Personally, I think the problems related to mayhem 2.0 are elsewhere
To link up with this thread, It is true that you will not be able to use every single legendary up to mayhem 10. Back in the old mayhem system, I’ve played the entire second DLC in mh1 only to try out all those legendaries I’ve collected but never used.
To me, the main point is to ask the devs if we can turn off the modifiers (maybe with a huge drop rate penalty, not to screw everything up) so we can have both a testing mod for every mh2.0 legendary weapon we collected and a DLC/storyline walkthrough mod to enjoy the new upcoming DLCs.
DISCLAIMER: I’m not an hardcore player
I did say I am not a fan of playing god in games, and some people support the idea of nerfing the gun. They nerfed the ION CANNON because it was also too broken, and that nerf was only an ammo consumption nerf and a lot of people stopped using it after that. And if you are done with the thread than you can leave? I’ve just been answering questions to people because I like to stay active. I do want people to be motivated to try new things, and I do want the Yellowcake to have some sort of nerf, and the 300%/90% anoint as well. If they don’t happen they don’t happen? Not saying I’d riot, just saying it would be nice to see.
Man the Buddy System is so, annoying. Like I use it because I prefer it to anything else, but hitting those things or them getting stuck in walls?? So annoying. They shouldn’t be able to phase through things, but yea Buddy system has some problems lolz. Also I don’t think Death should get the health modifier, because I’d play with that if it wasn’t for the fact it is harder to kill than the thing I just killed.
Yep, Moze in particular seems to rely on a very select few (cartel) weapons beyond MH4 To get any real damage. IB basically does no damage above that level so you have to rely on gear alone. Decrease at or below MH3 and its too easy. Hard to find the sweet spot at the moment with Moze.
My friend has been using the cartel weapons and Sand Hawk a lot, but they use the sand hawk because they loved it from BL2. But he still tries other guns and has found them to work as well, he prefers his sand hawks though. Spent days farming them.
Actually, I could see the little round bastard behind the railing up there LOL
I couldn’t shoot it though
Which is another thing, they phase through things but get stuck on other things??? I get annoyed when it is on a boss, tend to just savequit right then and there. Like nope, not dealing with that guy. Though the recursion will hit it, if that is helpful
Haha yea that’s annoying, I just shoot the wall with will-o-the-wisps a couple times and that usually does the trick
If it is suck inside the wall?? That works???
not true sorry. I run lobs and torgue weapons but i have very good rolls
Although I don’t agree with a lot of your opinions, this I would like to emphasize.
The scaling was intended. W/o it ghere would be nothing except modifiers. Do I like it? Eon’t know yet. Just up to M6 I am. So far, so good.
Also, Gbx intended players to work their way up. So naturally they had to implement weapons that are stronger to make players feel the difference. Admittedly, they could’ve scaled all wespons accordingly. But Gbx wanrs to shake the meta as much as possible everytime they drop content on us.
If that’s the best solution in order to keep the BL3 experience fresh … well, since there is so much discussion going on, I’m afraid it’s not.
In my view, Gbx heavily confuses longevity and keeping it fresh with frustration over RNG and refarming slogs.
Those of us that refarm upon level cap increases and meta shakes and new anointments might just do it in spite of what Gbx does. Not because …
it wouldn’t be the first gun to have added projectile damage, to be fair
I know, but the guns that have that are usually weaker. Like the Carrier has less base value than most other assault rifles, but it makes up for it in the bonus projectiles. Meanwhile Yellowcake does more damage than most other heavies, and still gets that added bonus?
All of these weapons have been average at best since launch (or since they were introduced in case of the Shocker). The reason for that is there have always been weapons that did the same job better, faster, and with less ammo consumption. So they never were very good weapons to begin with. Useable pre-M2.0, yes, to kill an enemy in a reasonable amount of time. But not outstanding in comparison to top tier weapons.
An exception here is the Laser-Sploder. It was a really good gun at release. But along came GBX with it’s nerf-hammer and Power-Creep.
However, post-M2.0 with all it’s issues these weapons are basically useless. There’s no reason to use any of these guns at all when the newly introduced guns can do it all better, in any imaginable way possible.
What about the Pimpernel in BL2? The card shows a single damage stat, but it has 5 extra pellets that each can apply the original damage plus 50% extra damage when it hits again. Not too much different from the YC tbh
The YC doesn’t do a lot of damage on a direct hit in my experience - it’s the secondary damage that causes all the havoc but often if I score a direct hit on eg a boss enemy and I get the range wrong I barely tickle them.
But BL2 is a mess of imbalance. I liked the Pimpernel because it was a funny gunzerk, and it was broke. So was like half the guns in that game. EDIT: Like the stupid unkept. I am so tired of hearing about the unkept. I got tired of using it, but in OP levels, it was one of like 10 things that actually would kill something after it got slagged of course. BL2 was a mess in the endgame and they REALLY didn’t care about gun balance, they just tossed weapons in without care. Which yes, was fun and cool, but when a majority of those guns were either so powerful they were needed, or so weak they were actually useless… It was a tough endgame, which is what they are trying to avoid in BL3.
And I did point out there is a range on the Yellowcake, but it is easy to counter by just jumping. I understand I am not in the majority on this, but they nerfed other guns that have been this broken before. When the ION CANNON came out, that is all anyone talked about, and then it got nerfed a few weeks later. It feels like a repeat of that honestly. But like I said, if they never nerf it they never nerf it. Simple as that.
Haha yea, the wisp seems to get it with the aoe elec damage even if it’s in the wall haha
Yes, they did nerf the ion cannon, which hopefully is a lesson they’ve learned. Who actually uses the ion cannon now? Or even carries it around? If nerfing means that a gun is never used again then who wins exactly?
You have changed my life with that information. I’ll be on the look out for a good wisp to help deal with those lolz
