Dedicated Loot Pools Miss The Mark

Anointments are making the loot pool so much bigger.

Let’s say Gun A has x different iterations of parts, accessories and elements. Farming a dedicated source with a guaranteed drop means you might expect to get the one you want in x attempts. We all know this isn’t true but let’s pretend.

In Borderlands 3 Gun A now can have one of y different anointments. So Gun A has x times y anointed iterations.

If you’re interested in finding the values of x and y I’m sure they’re on the forum somewhere. I’d hazard a guess that it could reach 500 plus iterations on some weapons. That’s just the one gun.

Let me add an important caveat: It is not that the Troy fight isn’t fun. I enjoyed it for a bit. I learned the mechanics, I interacted with the different phases which I had to do on Mayhem 4 (so mission accomplished Gearbox), I optimized my gear and build for it.

It’s not fun 50 times. I’ve been damage and skill checked already. I can do it, I have been doing it, there’s no variety in it. It will always be just about the same fight despite a scattershot tink spawning instead of a regular tink. Having to do this 1000 times is not as fun as a random arena or game experience for me.

What’s most important is it’s not what I want to be doing with my time. Why are you going to give me the option to farm anywhere, then force me to farm one place, then make that place extremely unrewarding to farm? Also why make it drop only on the hardest difficulty in that case? Am I supposed to be playing Ragnarok Online?

It’s unrealistic to think you can get a perfect parts item in this game. Especially now that perfect parts are so much more fluid with builds and guardian rank.

My Amara is at 50 with a build and load out that can survive in M4 and I’m done shopping for her. If I see something I need (non DP Roisen’s Thorns I’m looking for you) I’ll pick it up but I’m not going looking for it. I’d much rather spend my time setting mobs on fire

Yo man, people don’t play the game for the same reason as others and can’t waste hours upon hours on the game just to get a gun they want.

i feel that people want the game to last forever because they have no other obligations. it’s absurd. nothing should be free, but nothing should take weeks to find either. i feel that they’re listening to much on influencer feedback, these people want the game to be perfect for what they get out of it. something that last for a really long time and allows them to continue to make videos on it. they had the same argument during the release. “it’s meant to take a long time, it’s good for longevity”

That’s the fun of the hunt. I’d prefer that than sitting in front of a grinder or something.

Yes. That is my impetus to keep playing.

This isn’t about perfect parts though, this is about in general. You might not get perfect parts, but if you want to get the item at all you should be able to. I got a Radiation Lob with bonus weapon damage and reload speed on kill that I picked up.

I’m not out for just perfect guns, but if I’m going to farm a dedicated loot source it needs to drop its loot in a somewhat reasonable time frame.

I played this Korean mmo called Mabinogi where you would literally have to grind materials for months to make a second material in an attempt to craft a single item. There are items in that game that took the entire server years to make.

I am not against grinding, I will grind forever. The grind needs to be rewarding.

Everybody but mindless yesman complained about BL2 drops when the game launched.

It got that worse than in 4 different playthrough (2 characters, both difficulty as there was no pt3) i found ONE, only, ONE legendary in a chest.
And i was playing the game coop with a friend. To this day, it became a horror story/joke about how Gearbox failed to understood what made BL1 one of the best looter out there.

BL3 got worse, now you got anointment to farm.
Legendary class mod have random skill, not fixed +5.
Shields and grenades can have 3 differents prefix added to their launching pattern
Relics and CM also have different bonuses
Some constructor got 2 or 3 gimmicks.

add to that a HUGE amont of anointed.

Either you guns are fixed and you have people farms them 1000 times to get one, either they aren’t and you have them farm them 1000 items to get the right one.

You can’t expect people to farm 1000 items one thousand time per item as you have been butthurting people to do everywhere. Please either think or stop spamming undeveloped opinion such as “it is the way it is” “we don’t play the same game” and so on. Either develop why this is a good thing or… gtfo i guess ? You contribute as much as a bot atm.

Gearbox doesn’t need yesbot to tell them how beutiful their steels abs are. They aren’t as vain as Vaughn.

They complained a ton, especially the first couple years. I remember when Armstrong personally came onto the boards to write a long post about drop rates and how the drop rates for BL2 were optimized and awesome and we need to get used to them.

Then like 2-3 years later, after the main DLC had dropped and they were wrapping up the holiday DLC, they made a big deal about how there was a bug the whole time (since launch!) and drops were totally too low! By like x4 (or was it x10?)! Wow, how could we at Gearbox have missed that for 3 whole years - even the lead systems designer was super duper sure the drop rates were working perfectly!"

You can try to rewrite history, but BL2 had plenty of complaints about loot, especially when the drop rates were total poop.

That’s not accurate. The problem with farming in the past was getting “The right parts” on the drop. You got plenty of drops, and items dropped often enough that it was enticing to keep farming that item over and over until you got perfect parts.

People are not even getting bad versions of drops. They are spending hours and not seeing a single dedicated item. Forget bad versions, they aer getting zero versions of the items. That’s not enticing enough to keep you going after the perfect versions.

You’re missing the broader point.

World drops are not rare, you are correct. Similarly I’d reckon if I walked to the park I’d find a coin someone dropped on the ground. The odds of that coin being a buffalo nickel like I’m really wanting though are greatly diminished.

yo dude, i remember those days :joy: i had taken a break from BL2 then read about the loot increase events that were going on, on a weekly basis with random new values. then they settled with the one most people thought were the more balanced.

In your spreadsheet, the carrier assault rifle says “judge hightower bugged”. Does that mean it doesn´t drop from him?

Can’t say I ever had a problem and I had over 2000 hours in it.

Yeah, it was a special time. It’s amazing how neither Gearbox or the playerbase has appeared to have learned anything since then.

I played BL2 from launch. The game has been out for like 8 or so years. A lot of people only played the best versions and remember it completely differently.

The game was not polished or balanced or glitchless. The loot and grind wasn’t perfect. Terramorphous was a 4 person raid that was almost impossible for most people to do without abusing Conference Call and Bee, which also made many other things pointless. Salvador was a clear favorite. zer0 was getting the Zane treatment and his legendary Terra mod dropped with A SALVADOR SKILL that he couldn’t use and got 0 benefit from.

You had to make your own fun just as much. I completed the main story in the first 1% of people on Steam in a 40 hour straight playthrough. This wasn’t for twitch, this was just me and a friend on Ventrilo.

Borderlands 3 needs some changes, especially since they are trying to be more ambitious. It is a better game, I’m not going to argue for it to go backwards, but don’t waste my time.

I will do the hardest difficulty, I will play your events or dlc or whatever, but don’t dangle a carrot in front of my face.

Good for you? I was responding to you saying other people never said they had a problem. I proved you wrong. Don’t move the goal posts, it’s unbecoming.

I want a Cutsman with anointment A.

If there was a crafting structure that I could put in the Cutsman I farmed and a different smg that has anointment A and some or even a lot of eridium I’d be standing in front of that all day long.
