This isn’t exactly a desire, but I’ve been wondering what kind of weapon variety would Borderlands 3 have. Assuming that that it would, for example, have both the weapon/item types from BL2 plus plenty of new ones, there might end up being so much possibilities that fans will have extremely hard time finding even remotely fitting stuff for themselves. I’ve been thinking of two possible solutions: either increase the loot drops from enemies and vendors, or have some degree of bias in drops towards loot types the player’s been favoring in current save.

@Goat_Stealer: Re. TVHM, I still see no point to three different plays over two. Not forcing it, just saying that having to do it over-over-over (as opposed to a combined NVHM/UVHM with appropriate scaling) was one time too many for me.

As for currency transfer, you’re not the first to mention that, and pretty sure the first wasn’t me. That aside, tho, it hasn’t been fun having to drag another character along simply to accumulate bars, crystals, tokens, or stones. And given that I’ve maxed Maya’s black market purchases and haven’t hit Tina’s SM or visited Terramorphous, those bars are just sitting there when they could be put to better use with someone else that hasn’t maxed.

@Jubamon: I say increased loot from enemies/vendors. After all, if it’s something you don’t like, “one man’s trash”…

So, I’m in the Beatdown after having come from Pete’s place, on my way to the exit. I’m clearing the area as I go and have come up to the crossroads by the burnt out bus. I look towards the exit and see a Burner in my path, with no-one else visible and no red dots on my minimap. My L72 Zero has half health but a full (The Bee) shield and I decide to take him out with a headshot. Check again for other enemies and/or red dots but nothing around. Deep breath, line him up and gently squeeze the trigger.

Instant FFYL. Wft? What the heck just happened? Well, turns out that the moment the bullet left my gun a Maurader came out of the building to my left, saw me taking out his buddy and, with reflexes a Jedi would have been proud of, whipped out his weapon, lined me up and killed me with one shot, all before I’d even finished taking mine. The guy’s wasted on street patrol.

So in the next Borderlands I’d like to see GBX being a little less lazy with the kills and put a little more thought into programming. I’ve no problem (well, maybe a little) dying because I’ve messed up or been too cocky, but dying because an enemy magically appears and takes me out faster than I can kill an enemy I’ve already got in my sights, especially after I’ve taken the care to ensure there’s no-one else about first, is just cheap. Shame on you.

While we’re at it, I can’t say I really enjoy back pedaling from an enemy and being suddenly unable to go any further because some minor imperfection in the landscape, all but invisible to the naked eye, blocks my path. Or being caught by a rock and unable to jump out of it, leaving me exposed to any enemy once they’ve stopped laughing at me. Quality control GBX - look it up.

Should say it’s a fantastic game, so kudos to the creative genii behind it, but some of the execution is a little sloppy and spoils it on occasion. Little things mean a lot.

My biggest request is please don’t make it a MMO like battleborn. Please don’t make it like Destiny. I am not a multiplayer kinda guy! What I mean by that is, don’t make it to where I absoulutley need people to help me get through the game like Destiny. I think this idea sucks tremedously. I don’t mind playing with my friends or family but I don’t want to have to MAKE friends while I’m playing a video game, If I have to make friends to play I might as well go make some real friends and go fishing or hunting,

I don’t like this MMORPGFPS thing that is starting to be a trend. If most games get into doing this from now on, I’ll keep my PS3 and play Borderlands and Diablo 3 for the rest of my life

Borderlands 2 had its fair share of bugs…and by fair share I mean a lot that still need to be fixed…BUT one of the things it really screwed up on we’re chests. Chest placement was incredibly stingy in BL2 and furthermore world drop rates of legendaries were atrocious. Look at this video: THIS is one of the reasons you scoured every corner of BL1.

To be honest there are 3 chests in this vid I NEVER knew about. There are more not covered in the video but that’s my entire point…the soul of BL1 was the loot. And BL2 fell super short of that. Enemies were tougher…yet less chests, lower drop rates…& no weapons or shields dropping that they might’ve been wielding…?? Super backwards.

i can’t even tell you how many times I’ve gotten a sweet shield or gun from a trash can or pile in BL1. Even a couple legendaries. Never happened in BL2. Anyways I could go on but watch these videos. They really demonstrate what I mean.

Also to those prattling on about weapon customizing…you haven’t played nearly enough borderlands. That’s not what it’s about. You SHOULD be able to get the weapon you want, however, getting it needs to have the element of chance that finding loot brings. There Needs to be a sizeable amount of effort involved. Not necessarily tedious. The grinder was the closest and honestly one of the BEST things to come to the series and while it missed a couple things (mostly due to other things), it has huge potential in the next game and I really think it should be kept. Refining it so people can put in important weapons and get back something (mostly) desired would be incredible

@nuuance What about skill boosts on COMs? I mean, given the complaints about some COMs (like Maya’s Witch COM) solely because of the boosts, it’d be nice to be able to swap those for any other 5-maxable skills.

Personally, I think that’s about the only acceptable type of gear-customizing for Borderlands as we know it, but what do you think?

Re. the Grinder, a potentially better proposal than one I wrote up earlier. Narrow it down frome three items (of the same type) per mix to two, and take the better stats of each while matching/excluding other details.

  • WEAPON
  • Manufacturer: Match/Exclude
  • Elemental Capacitor: Match/Exclude
  • Type: Match/Exclude
  • Barrel: Match/Exclude
    • [+] Damage
    • [+] Accuracy
    • [+] Fire Rate
    • [-] Reload Speed
    • [+] Magazine Size
    • [+] Elemental Effect Damage
    • [+] Elemental Effect Chance
  • GRENADE
  • Delivery System: Match/Exclude
  • Elemental Capacitor: Match/Exclude
  • Type: Match/Exclude
    • [+] Grenade Damage
    • [+] Blast Radius
    • [-] Fuse Time
  • [+] DoT Damage
  • SHIELD
  • Type: Match/Exclude
    • [+] Capacity
    • [+] Recharge Rate
    • [-] Recharge Delay
    • [+] Unique Trait(s)
  • Elemental Resistance: Match/Exclude

[+]/[-] is indicative of a higher or lower number, whichever is the better stat. If the stats of a category on two submitted items are the same, the resulting stat will not change.

For any trait that has match/exclude, match means the result will be the same; exclude means the result will be completely random and anything but either those submitted.

An example of this would be if a player submitted a Vladof Rocketeer (acid) and a Vladof Spinigun (fire). Of the possible results, the resulting weapon’s traits would be:

  • Manufacturer: Match = Vladof
  • Elemental Capacitor: Exclude = Acid/Fire
  • Type: Match = Assault Rifle
  • Barrel: Exclude = Dahl/Torgue

Possible Results:

  • Weapon:
  • Guerilla</font color>
  • Renegade</font color>
  • Rifle</font color>
    • Rocketeer</font color>
    • Spinigun</font color>
  • Elemental Capacitor:
  • None</font color>
  • Shock</font color>
  • Slag</font color>
    • Acid</font color>
    • Fire</font color>

If Ryhss(?) and Fiona aren’t playable characters at the start then I want to have them as unlockable characters after you finish normal, and if you select one or the other as a playable character that you start off a TVHM play thru with their skills already at at least level 30. You can do Marcus test dummy side missions to get the hang of their skills if you want to give players a chance to get a bit familiar with them. I’d also want new areas to be unlocked after you finish each play thru (normal, TVHM, UVHM). The new areas (with presumably new and better loot and enemies) would give you a reason to shoot for the higher levels…

I get the nostalgia factor…people want the old bounty hunters…blah blah. I sincerely think they should be done away with or only show up as cameos. And by cameos I mean in a very very surprisingly different capacity than we’d expect. Even as villains.

Nostalgia is great but often the trend with nostalgia is people are like WOWWWW…then it fades and then it’s just a big novelty people don’t really care about anymore.

We need a fresh start. This is borderlands 3. I don’t mind seeing older people, but we don’t need to play as them or anything. That’s what BL2 is for. If you want nostalgia, go back to BL1/BL2.

Back to the weapon customization. The grinder I think is perfect for that. Also looking at majority of your posts…the thing showing up in 90% of these suggestions is people having issues with getting a “PERFECT” gun – or in other words, a gun that doesn’t suck and that they really like. Even simpler put – a gun they feel is WORTH having and not worthless.

Borderlands 1 worked soooo we’ll because guns were quite imperfect, BUT the sliders were so frickin extreme (15 fire rate?!?!? Wow!) until if one aspect of the gun you didn’t like much, at least 1 other part of the gun more than made up for it (2-shot revolvers damage four example).

The issue is NOT customization. The issue are varied guns with value. In borderlands 1, I never hear anyone complaining about customizing. Why is that? Because majority of the gun types were useful/used & perfect in their own imperfect way. And I loved that.

BL2 fell into a rut where sliders were so inconsequential until people only wanted higher damage or increased pellet count. That’s what it boiled down to. Literally.

@nuuance: There was something else I forgot about the Grinder – the damn Moonstone enhancements. Shelling out for something that is not only completely random, but has a random chance of even appearing was not worth it IMO. What would be worth it is if you could pick one trait to apply – and have it guaranteed to show up. If you wished to change out that trait, you’d have to M/E it with another weapon possessing a different trait, which would exclude them both and allow you to pick one from the list again.

On top of this, the trait can be increased by grinding another item of the same type with the same trait onto it, basically stacking the effect by half of the 2nd one. So if the first had +20% increased reload speed</font color> and you ground another +20% increased reload speed</font color> onto it, the resulting weapon would have +30% increased reload speed</font color>.

I found the Cracked sash shield and figured that some1 at gearbox has played diablo 2. They made the worst item in diablo the eth cracked sash into a decent shield. I love how borderlands and diablo is so similar. Id like to see socketable weapons and shields or maybe even “runeword” items. Maybe a lobby with games listed and where you can name the title to let pple know exactly what youre doing like “tubby runs” or “trading only” “duel room”. Maybe a level requirement option for those who dont like to play with high level characters when youre only lvl 10. I loved leveling in D2 and grinding for hours in baal runs just to get those extra 5 stat points and skill point. With that said leveling seemed fairly easy and quick to get to 72. With the humor in bl2 i think a secret cow level would fit perfectly. Lol.

Tiny Tina (probably won’t be so tiny anymore) as a playable character!!

Some items shouldn’t make it into the game, much less off paper. 101, the Crit and Cradle are at the top of my DNR list for one reason</font color>.

The one thing that has always bugged me is the quest rewards in DLC. It would be nice to have these as farmable items, even if it meant only after you finished it. It would be so easy to have a particular enemy appear after finishing the DLC, or even in it during play, probably a random spawn like King Mong etc. or from evolving enemy like the Twister needs. One of the issues it has caused is people having to spend hours dash boarding their games to get items of their wish - i.e. Fire Sandhawk with X parts. If the items had other means of farming, it would add to the end game fun and allow people to get what they want - instead of copying it or gibbing it. And now GBX know what we want in these games, don’t make it so incredibly hard to get some of the items. To get a Twister your required to evolve some dudes, those dudes only go so far. I’d like these things to be accessible to the majority, make it more like 1 in 5 chance to spawn, touch harder to kill.

And I seriously want to see a solid game engine, none of this crap we see with Vermiverous literally walking through walls, vanishing off the map, loot falling through the floor or not appearing. Needs much higher standards of quality control and testing, and way better multiplayer game sessions

My big things I wish for Borderlands 3.

  1. No slag or slag type element. I hated it in Borderlands 2, especially with how it became required in the last play through for any real damage.

  2. No baseline enemy regeneration on the higher difficulties. I understand making them harder, but don’t make them regenerate life constantly. I can understand it on some characters if it fits them, just not all characters.

  3. The ability to reset individual quests after you have completed the story mode on a playthrough. Being forced to reset an entire game just to redo a single quest for the quest item sucks, especially if they can generate 50+ variations of the item.

  4. No damage skills that scale directly off your character level, make them scale off your equipped weapon. Sucked playing as Maya only to have most of her skills completely break on the last play through due to scaling till the last patch and if it scales based on your Op level, then that means you weaken them when you lower them while everything else stays the same.

  5. Have legendary or pearl versions of normal guns as well, not just all uniques. Seems weird when the absolute strongest version of a weapon can be a blue quest item or something. Not a huge deal though, just seems weird and I think many would like to see scaled up versions of some of the standard weapons a times.

  6. Explosive type SMG’s and Sniper rifles. Really missed them from part one.

  7. More varied versions of character mods, would be nice to have them spawn with a more random selection of skills they boost and not just the same 3 with the same kinda of buff. Especially when your build doesn’t use some of them. Sucked seeing so many of them as Maya that boosted Flicker which was filler to a lot of people and no way to replace it with something they actually used.

  8. More viable PvP, It seems pointless to have the ability to duel on the game when the duel is literally done within the first 2 seconds.

Just some things I would like to see if the top of my head.

Well there is the Cobra Sniper Rifle, in the Torgue DLC, which is Explosive although somewhat difficult to get even after the last patch.

I know, but I was talking about them actually being common in the loot pool instead of going out of your way to get the only one in the entire game.

This is a very small desire for borderlands 3, and i dont know how likely it would be to actually be a thing in bl3 whenever they make it, but i would love if there were alot more charecters to play as in the default game, so instead of having just 4 characters maybe they could have 8 ? Personally i dont want to see all of the old charecters to just become npcs you only interact with and i want to be able to play as them again but ofcourse adding more story to them, i like alot of the playable charecters in the series and i would love to play as them again like Athena or claptrap or even if they wanted to add new characters from tales from the borderlands like Fiona and Rhys, personally its probably the biggest thing i want in the game

@Fugus: Hell, bring back every manufacturer making almost every type of weapon. I’m definitely missing explosive SRs, and also missing explosive SMGs.

If Eridium and E-Tech makes a return, getting cash AND E-bars from selling E-Tech items. It’d basically be breaking down the item, and getting payment equivalent to 75% of the value of the parts and 60% of the item’s Eridium value, the rest of which goes to Marcus.

Well with Rhys(?) having the title to Atlas and Hyperion on shaky ground a revival of Atlas at least seems possible. @whiterapper63- I’d like to see some of the BL1 &2 Vault Hunters return as NPC’s in dlc- maybe they each have their own planet with a series of undiscovered vaults they need your help with…:grinning:
