Desires For Borderlands 3

How about separate loot streams for multiplayer games.
that way we don’t have to worry about “loot hogs” screwing up our co-op experience?

-Not online only.
-Raid bosses have better drop rates.
-Enemies with good gear drop what they’re using (like BL1).
-Improve the quality of loot from “red level” chests.
-Make explosive weapons like they were in BL1 (wishful thinking).

(Copypaste from old forums)

  • No steam
  • More desertic landscapes, BL1/Mad Max style
  • BL1’s Cobra and more realistic weapon skins like in BL1. They sorta look too much like toys in BL2/TPS
  • No grinder
  • Possibility to reset quests at the end of the playthrough
  • Better dialogue placement… sometimes it was really hard to follow what they said during the fights, and sometimes dialogues tended to overlap themselves
  • Anthony Burch as lead writer :worried:
  • A bit grittier and less cartoonier graphic style
  • A big bank shared with all characters
  • More weapon slots. Four is ridiculously low
  • No more stupidly random challenges (Felicity) or challenges that you have one shot only at because they’re tied to some quest
  • Make BLTPS’ story, characters and changes to old characters (like Moxxi) non-canon
  • Less levels than BL2. Levelling up alts is a pain.
  • No more eridium/moonstones. There already is a currency: money.
  • Better inventory management: stop designing them for gamepads.

i’d like a dialog and cut scene archive… and then the ability to replay all those scenes independent of the game activity.

i’d like to be able to go back over old dialog and cut scenes so that i can fully experience them and not have to be fighting 5 guys while some interesting dialog is going on.

I will say I did like that aspect of Destiny when I played its alpha and beta tests. Having individual loot streams was an excellent way to ensure everyone would be rewarded for their contributions in farms.

For the most part, I’m in agreement with your recommendations. I have to say I like the art style Borderlands has. Not saying I don’t like excellent graphics, but these days all I seem to hear about is how gorgeous graphics look, but the most important element to a game is the gameplay, and considering how much people focus on graphics first and foremost, I don’t mind if the graphics in Borderlands take a bit of a back seat to gameplay. Nevertheless, I do want to see it expanded upon.

I definitely want a bigger storage space outside of our backpacks. I was disappointed with the carrying capacity in Borderlands 2 as well. If I remember correctly, the maximum capacity in BL1 was 39 or 42 and all we had to carry in that title were weapons, shields, and grenades. Taking a look at the much more diverse selection of equipment in BL2, the capacity should have been much higher. Back to the point though, I’ve struggled with managing space in my banks, especially since I play only a couple of characters.

Upping the number of equipped weapons would be a nice addition, but it could be worse. I think of Dead Space 3 and how you could only carry two weapons, and I had several I would have preferred to take along indefinitely.

The one area I respectfully disagree with is the levels. I, for one, want to see the level cap increase with each game, and the skill trees expand further than they have before. More variety means more fun, and being able to allocate more perks for explosive enjoyment is all the more rewarding. At the same time, I can’t relate with you. I don’t play alts, so I can’t say what that frustration is like.

This is the only way forward, or it’ll be as corrupt as B2 was.

I personally think the story has to start where it left off. The characters from B2 are brilliant, and if they gave you Mordecai and Brick again, it would be amazing. I realise it’s a lot of work and support, but many other game offers an array of starting characters with customisation too boot. The fact they already have these characters data is a fast starting point. It would be great if we had that universe to explore, creepy exotic worlds with incredible brutality and diversity. I’d like to see more of the Bloodshots/Rage esq style Madmax like environments. Needs to be a lot more full on battles and tactical requirements. Give people the chance to change the difficulty level, like any game should, and have an outright 4 person INSANE mode. I’d like it too be really dark, but still with the ridiculous humour. And they really have to keep the loot system, it’s what made the game and makes it so madly addictively playable. So in a nutshell, take the best of B1, B2 and make it bigger and better, more intense, and more diverse.

It was 48. And a bank of 48 on Moxxi’s Underdome.

They’re wrong when they say people should just discard guns and move on… I used to collect legendaries (and really good purples), and I think I wasn’t the only one.

Not going to happen.

I agree with the other suggestions though except for the last one about levels. I think leveling is one of the big draws for the series and limiting it would limit that draw. TPS did it right in that we get our action skill @ level 3 instead of 5, and there was better synergy between skills, but I like being able to level to 69 or 72 depending on the game and how hard UVHM is.

Lots of great suggestions!

Mine would be to make it more solo friendly. None of these “Bring your friends or else” type bosses.
Obviously the idea is to promote multi player which = game sales.
But, If the game stands on it’s own, then you and your friends will be buying it anyway.
One of the reasons I’ve hesitated on getting TPS. I’ll wait for a big Steam sale, I guess.

One question, Was there any input like this thread before TPS was in planning?
Or was everybody too busy enjoying and playing the cr4p out of BL2 to care.

The Cosplay has been awesome for this.
AND it would make a great addition to the Borderlands3 universe.

FEMALE PSYCHOS ! ! !

Okay, thanks for giving the actual figure. Whatever the cap, the maximum in BL2 issue remains. With so much more to use, the backpack space should have been much higher. I can only imagine BL3 would have at least the same number of gear types if not more, and a few dozen slots just doesn’t cut it.

I agree. Especially in BL1. I remember collecting much more than Legendaries. I really enjoyed collecting Masher revolvers and Double Anarchy SMGs. I remember having a Masher that was somewhere around 525-575 x 7 damage. It wasn’t necessarily the fanciest revolver, but as far as raw damage went, the thing was a beast, and if I remember correctly, they were only blues or purples at best.

I’d like them to sort out the multiplayer online mess that was.

One of the things that has come to light recently was the DestinyLFG site where you could just go on, advertise yourself or look for a group. I could join RAID groups within a minute. Very effective. It would be nice if Gearbox could create their own master site for this, as I think this would be better and easier to run than some beast of an SQL Server that would most likely be too expensive to run anyway. As long as it covers everything in the game, all the options, hey presto it’s then easy for people to hook up. I realise not everyone would be able to use it, but the ‘mass majority’ certainly would.

I’m sorry, I may have misunderstood since I don’t play destiny.

Are you talking about an external site, something outside the game itself, to look for a group?
Then no. Absolutely not. Just no.

More weapon diversity.

Maybe I will be 100% alone on this but.

Choice of Melee weapons? Within reason.

(I.E. Zer0 couldn’t use a buzzaxe and Krieg couldn’t use a katana).

Considering this is a ‘strong’ reply, why are you so against this kind of website. It works well, and would be easy to setup and maintain.

Because an hugely important part of the game (grouping) shouldn’t be left outside the game itself.

I don’t have to look for people with other means than game provided instruments.

I understand what you mean, but this is something additional. It’s not always ‘the best’ way to go with having auto-group, an LFG website allows people freedom to sort out others aspects of grouping up. I suppose the only people to argue it are the devs, because they have to program the game in order to fulfil the multiplayer aspect, and I’m quite sure that’s a very hard task to accomplish. This may come down to exactly what kind of game is developed and the multiplayer aspects anyway, but it works well for Destiny. The other way of doing it would be similar to the function Final Fantasy 14 has, for dungeon grouping etc. which is built into the game, but I can’t imagine how hard it is to setup and maintain. Only suggestions right now…
