Digistruct Peak: Who to use?

Thanks for the great in-depth reply. Out of interest if I were to try your Deputy Build, what other shotguns are viable? Just curious, I know you say the ROM is the daddy, as it were, but if I wanted to use it right now before farming one of those, what else works well?

My Sal currently runs this build: http://bl2skills.com/gunzerker.html#505050521515055510515105000000000

Gear is the usual Grog+DPUH, Nukem and Pimpernel in the other two slots. Using Legendary Gunzerker COM, Storm Front (only have a lobbed one right now) and a Blood of the Ancients that gives me more Pistol ammo and more health. Shield i’m using is Antagonist, I also have a Bee, Blockade and Inflammable FotF in my backpack. I have a shock Interfacer, fire Norfleet, Corrosive Lyudmila also, as well as Legendary Berserker and Hoarder COMs.Magic Missile x4 just because. I have a Triquetra at 72, but I don’t think it’s a particularly good version, Well Kept prefix, Hyperion Stock and Grip.

Sorry for listing literally everything but I figured you’d be better able to give me tips if you knew what I already had. I also have a couple of Butchers on different characters if they are of any use.

Second best would be the Twister IMO

As for what works, any jakobs shotgun with a mag size that allows 2 shots works
I’ve run this build with Coach guns, Longriders, Bangsticks, Bushwacks, Tidal wave, The Hydra, The Triquetra, Quads, the Striker… they all work.

Single barrels need a Tediore, Hyperion or Torgue grip to get a mag size of 2, Tediore being the best
Coach guns need a Bandit or jakobs grip to get a mag size of 3, Jakobs being the better one. Purple coach guns with a jakobs grip get a mag size of 4 however, which isn’t good because FttBrim pushes it to 5, making it a 3 shot, so if you go for a coach gun, it needs to be blue or green, or have a Bandit grip.
Almost any Quad works, I think there is one combination of accessory and grip that yeilds a mag size over 8 with this setup, but 95% of them are fine
Same with triple barrels, they almost all work.

Seems solid
Your points in I’m ready already are wasted though: the cooldown bonus doesn’t apply to what Get Some provides, and especially since you use a legendary Gunzerker, you probably never get anything out of it.

Relic: More health with Sal is a good idea because his Health regen are %-based, so more health = a bigger gain per second…but you don’t have any of these, and the Sheriff’s badge is so good that I would not pass it up.

Instead, you should probably get a shield that gets you that extra health, like a Neo or Evo. They also have the added benefit of protecting you from DoTs. The points you could save from I’MRA should go in Hard to Kill for the same reason.

All nice things to have

These are awesome on Sal, you should give them a try.

Thank you once again for the comprehensive reply. I will take your advice and move the skill points from I’m Ready Already into Hard to Kill. I think what happened was I put the points in there early on when I didn’t have the gear I do now, and never thought about moving them.

I will get to farming a Neo for him then, would a Rough Rider work with Sal or is it too risky?

I works rather well, but it is better suited for Raids IMO
One of the advantages it has is that it keeps Out of Bubblegum active all the time…but you don,t have that specced anyway.

The Neo and Evo are better all around IMO

Still, if you already have a RR but not either of the 2 adaptive, it is still a good choice

I do have a RR right now, and I don’t think I have either a Neo or Evo. So I could use it while I farm one and see how I do. You think my build is ok with those 5 points moved? I mean honestly I haven’t had any problems (I know this probably isn’t a surprise) but I understand that I may need to relearn Sal if I want to do OP levels.

Yeah, if Grog/Harold is what you do, that’s about as textbook a spec as you can have :dukeaffirmative:

Ok thank you. Would it continue to work at OP levels? And one final thing, where do I farm a Neo from? I used to know but I have completely forgotten where you get it.

Yeah sure, that build is one of the most proven and tested around.

Psycho in Frostburne canyon, after the Dr Zed questline

Thank you for all the help, is it ok to send you a message some time if I am having trouble?

Yeah, no problem

I just did the first run of the peak, admittedly it was only 72ish enemies but I did it to see what the layout was like, etc.

The music is addictive! Now i’ve done that first run does that mean I am OP1 now, or is that just a warm up?

you should have had a message pop up saying you’ve unlocked OP1. Next time you load that character, you’ll be given the option to run it as standard or at OP1. Same every time you unlock an OP level

My next question is, when do I stop to start refarming gear? Obviously I don’t want to farm for everything, but enough stuff to make it work.

You’ll get a feel for it. If you’re not able to kill a specific enemy in the course, you probably need a new strategy or better weapons. If you’re dying too fast, maybe a new shield or whichever piece of hear that provides survivability for your build. Some things like relics and COMs will probably be fine from op0 to op8, others you may need to farm every 3 levels, then every 2 and then every level after op6 - 0, 3, 5, 6, 7 is probably the worst case scenario.

Hey well done!! As shure says, quit your character session after completing the Peak and then select your OP level on the menu that comes up. And yeah, don’t feel honourbound to farm for gear more than every 3 or so levels, depending on how it goes.

One other thing, I’m bad at remembering exactly what spawns at each level but on at least one level you will have to fight Hyperion turrets. These can be really deadly, especially the slag versions, so I find it helpful to snipe them from cover. If you see a corrosive sniper rifle hang on to it.

Thought i’d update this, i’m now OP7, as in i’m completed up to and including OP6. Preparing for OP7, trying to get the Sorcerer to give me a Corrosive Conference Call… Yeah it may take a while
