Bad for Players who bought it at Releaase , next time Gearbox releases a game i wait 2 weeks and get a big sale and only pay half for the game. I bet after the sale it will be F2P.
I will put here what i put in another thread about this very āissueā.
I preordered a digital deluxe edition, have been
playing the game happily for a while now and I am happy with what i
paid. I see no issue with this āsaleā and thats what it is. This is not a
"price drop" and if it was then fine, there has been so much
complaining about matchmaking and wait times, this will actually bring
more players in and improve those issues and all most of you can do is
complain more?
I dont see your pointā¦
Alrighty then. There goes that theory.
You must to have plenty of money to spare man. I really donāt.
Because if every normal person know a product would be on 33% sale 25 days after release, preorder support would end for sure.
As I said, I donāt have any problem. More players is indeed good. But we need some kind of exclusive compensation for those extra 30 dollars we payed 25 days ago.
or 'cuz overwatch is out and potential players and non season dlc holders have one more reason to stay on battleborn or come back later on.
I do really want to see this days statistics after the day ends of how much players we lost.
Indeed, it is a very likely BC overwatch is out.
I think if they were so keen on winning this overwatch v. Battlborn grudge match they should have released one $40 version , season pass and all, of the game from the start. They knew this fight was coming.
Iām sure that would have made the more dedicated original fan base + the people that are on the fence that they are now trying to attract with the price cut also.
But Iām saying this without knowing anything about how their company works but I can see a sizable amount of their costumer base isnt overly enthused about how the past couple weeks have been unfolding.
especially watcing steamers, and youtube video of the rages caused by many broken spots and Marquis.
Its also not gearbox fault that some MORON decided to compare Overwatch with Battleborn and got that snowball effect rolling down hill, they got similarities, because they are getting their idea from other successful previous titles of games with high fan base, but are totally completely different. So thats all messing with possible future plans. Like Marvel vs DC Batman v. Superman, but daredevil new premier came out, Lol. They did that on purpose.
I can understand where much of the frustration is coming from regarding the price drop, but thatās just the harsh reality of pre-ordering. With any pre-order, you are taking a gamble on numerous factors, including: Whether the game is any good, are the pre-order goodies actually worth it, will it drop in price in a few weeks, etc⦠I just pre-ordered Mirrorās Edge 2, and I havenāt seen really anything about this new game. I love the first one, but I have been doing my best not to read anything/ watch anything, in hopes of a un-bias opinion. For all I know, the game is going to absolutely blow and be $40 in 2-3 weeks after launch. In the end, itās a risk I am willing to take in hopes that I have a fun experience, right at launch. Does that justify Gearbox doing what they are doing, I canāt say. However, I think itās more important for people to analyze the enjoyment and hours they are getting out of buying a game at launch, and whether it warrants that gamble of money.
In the beginning it wasnāt a sale it was a price drop but to cover it up gearbox says sale to please people who preorder or bought it the day it came out. I will admit I like the game but this pisses me off that it literally goes on sale 2 weeks later which is a big ā ā ā ā me because if I had known I would have waited and also bought the season pass with it but ā ā ā ā it. People say itās a response to overwatch thatās their opinion and I dont know but itās a real big screw you to the gamers who bought it on release.
I would also like to state this isnāt a preorder issue which most people are making it sound like. A preorder issue is where people
preorder a game and it sucks and they bitch about it this on the other hand is not the case itās.a good/decent game the only thing thatās wrong is that they dropped the price which initially screws over the community at large who bought the game at release which includes those who preorder.
I donāt really see it as screwing anyone, I also feel this will help the community at large who brought the game early and wish to keep playing. it does not feel like the the game should be discounted, it does not deserve that, but if thatās what it takes to make this game float a little longer or perhaps get a second wind then i have no problem with this, as an adult i made my choice when i backed the game early.
Also i know this wasnāt a dig but for the record i had to save for this game like many others
Glad the price dropped to lure more on the fence gamers. If it increaes the community Iām all for it. Been playing a lot of this game since launch (even over uncharted 4) so Iāve gotten my moneysworth already. Had $20 on psn store already from a previous gift card, so that helped me purchase at launch. I donāt know if I would have paid $60 at launch though, I rarely do that unless itās a game I know I will like (uncharted 4 etc).
I did the same with division. Played the crap out of it for the first few weeks after launch, got to lvl30 and then traded it in for $30 credit at GameStop. That was ubisoft though so you could expect to keep the price higher longer to cash in.
This game is getting $19 trade in value at GameStop now. I plan to buy season pass as well. PVE has been a lot of fun
Itās an interesting tacticā¦
They are attempting to bring in more new players while also upsetting a large chunk of their original player base.
EIther the game should have been the discounted price from the start or not done that silly season pass stuff and included the content for everyone.
I purchased the digital deluxe due to a miscommunication. I would have traded it in a week ago BC I didnāt like how they handled it as a company. Unfortunately it was a DIGITAL copy so Iām stuck. Now there are retailers selling the exact thing I purchased for $75 for $40 (before anyone had the chance to even use the season pass) and the base for $40 everywhere else roughly two weeks later.
Yea, Iām a bit irked
I know there are people saying thatās the market and I got the pleasure to play it two weeks later.
Both true statements
(Regarding those extra two weeks, it might as well had been an extended beta . They released it with the same problems that were apparent in the beta. They fixed the already known problem in overgrowth almost the same day they dropped the price so one could argue these new players will have a better experience than we have been having the past two weeks. What was the point of that last beta again?)
But then there are people that feel slighted how it went down that may leave the game while they are attempting to bring new players in. Iām not saying that is the correct response but Iām sure there are a lot of people that feel that way.
Thatās very unfortunate because I bet the people that were willing to drop $80 on Battleborn on day one were some of Battlebornās most ardent fans.
I got more than my moneyās worth buying the physical copy and season pass so really any price drop wonāt irk me in the slightest. If anything Iām still miffed that thereās no way at the moment that I can get those cyber skins and taunts without buying the Digital Deluxe Edition completely
Adding my two cents on here after seeing mention on the Battleborn Facebook post about this sale a rumor of a class action lawsuit over the sale. What?! Come onā¦
Unless this is the very first video game youāve ever bought, how could you not know there would be a sale on this game? There are always sales on video games! During beta, there were 20% sales on Battleborn on various sites. I just missed those sales, so after playing and loving the game during beta, I was torn between paying full price for immediate access or waiting for the next, inevitable sale. Right before release, though, I found another 20% sale from a non-grey market site. PC players, especially, we all play on Steam. Steam has sales all the time, literally, all the time. The Big Steam Summer Sale will surely have another sale for this game to help build the player base.
Gearbox didnāt cheat or mislead anyone with their base pricing, nor are they at fault for doing a sale to help compete with Overwatchās release this week. The fact that the sale is happening just a few weeks after release doesnāt matter. As people have said above, buying pre-release, or any game, for full price, youāre doing so at your own risk, if you want to call it that. For those on a tight budget, patience is a virtue, but Gearbox and the rest of us really do appreciate your support for this awesome game!
Game on!
I really do wonder how much of this is 2K. Gbx has done an incredible job of putting out new content, working on balancing ASAP, and fixing exploits; all in a timely manner. Itās clear gbx cares about making their community happy.
Then we have marketing. Of which:
-Provided a lackluster advertisement campaign to promote the game. I have sold my friends on this game. Advertising did nothing for them.
-Provided misleading information on the ps4 beta that has pissed a large number of people off, and ultimately provided no resolution for their mistake other than an apology.
-Planned a sale for $20 off within three weeks of launch. Some retailers will refund you the difference within 30 days of purchase, but what about all those people who bought the digital version (including those tricked into buying the digital deluxe)?
-Has created a bottleneck of how much information people like @jythri and @joekgbx can actually tell us. We keep being told things, like that tier 2 skins should have come out with Alani, and then not seeing it happen. When we ask whatās going, we get silence. The skins could be in tomorrowās battleplan and all could be hunky dory. Unfortunately marketing thinks itās more important to make an announcement than talking with the community when we ask questions. I love when gbx actually has conversations with us(even just to say weārenot sure at the moment, weāll get back to you) but silence just creates problems.
I have heard that marketing is handled by 2K and not gbx. If so, I feel really bad for gbx because their loyal fans that have been supportive of this game for some time now, keep getting spurned.
Correct they did not.
They just had a āmiscommunicationā that prompted people to purchase the more expensive version on day oneā¦
But correct, they did not mislead anyone with their pricing.
I would agree except for a MAJOR problem with the game was recognized in beta and it was released anyway. I expect KNOWN issues to be fixed when I finally pay full price for a released game. That annoyed me from the start and that was GBXās territory, not 2k. I honestly feel like Iāve been playing the beta up until they finally fixed overgrowth since thatās the game mode I enjoy the most. Donāt even get me started on the problems with echelon
You do make great points otherwise though.
Also do we know if this is a permanent or temporary sale? I saw something on their website about it being only one week. Not sure if theyād jack it back up again but if it is a one week sale to compete with overwatch release it may be a little more palletable for people
Yea, Iām not sure but I donāt see that happening. The box stores already dropped the price so it will probably stay just BC they are unlikely to raise the price. It would just cut down on 2kās direct sales BC people will go to GameStop instead.
Who knows though
Yeah I think retailers will probably keep as is. Hope it leads to more player population with this game. Overwatch already getting high scores on all the review sites, though some seem contrived. I played the beta it was very polished and focused on a gameplay but I thought it was kind short on content. I didnāt like the heros nearly as much as battleborn group and felt there was nothing to play for when games were lacking (pugs were really a struggle sometimes).
