Agree to disagree - A lot of people don’t like the base game story which I get, but DLCs are good in BL3. Gameplay & quality of life improvements are huge - I know everyone loves BL2, and I did too almost a decade ago when it came out, but trying to go back and play it on switch with my GF after playing BL3 was tough.

slag is only the king after you enter op 6+
game still works until then

i see the irony myself, but yeah it boils down o ■■■■ scaling ruined by op / mayhem scalings

that being said i literally find nothing in bl3 that is rly fun, because everything is stained by some form of ■■■■■■■■
cool bosses? almost all of them are ■■■■ to reach considering loading times and other things
cool guns? the difference is so hard you notice it even before mayhem( though before mayhem all guns work)
dlcs are a HARD mixed bag between okay and garbage

also my game permanently freezes laggs and until mayhem 11 it was nai unplayable for me,
during the last halloween event my game froze again as certain guns and splash effects for whatever reason INSTANTLY freeze my game
a few of my friends suffered the same issues so yeah

as for balance yeah sure slag was ass as a balancing tool, but annointments are only so much better then that, still 100% flawed

my biggest issue with bl 2 and even 3 is that for whatever reason gearbox lacks the collective braincells to think about the fact that they want to increase the lvl cap and design the base skilltrees around lvl 50- MAYBE 60, which instantly is a massiv issue down the line

and this is btw a by them confirmed way why they even do mayhem/op lvls as they do it
to give a lvl up without a skillpoint

other games do not run into this trap because they take that into account
point at literally ANY OTHER GAME THAT WORKS SOMEWHAT LIKE BL
its an issue that should be adressed before releasing the game

speak design character progression for lvl 60-80ish and give us 50 lvls
this allows for a way better way to use additional skillpoints and also deletes all issues you are having
since you know
they dont need to do mayhem / op as it is right now, which means no slag or annointment trap
it all boils rly down to this
because once that issue is gone all guns stay more or less viable, since the scaling isnt ■■■■■■ anymore

btw what that would look like with vll design for 60-80 when we have only 50 lvls is like this
you get to reach one captsone ability, and use a classmod to get other points in other trees as you need them, with later lvl increases giving a way more drastic boost as they will allow you to get what you could not before,
you can even give stronger capstones now since they are ahrder to reach, speak a characters capstone rly RLY can matter more then say 100% bonus melee dmg

I’m sounding like a broken record, but raid bosses!!! However I don’t think they should be locked by season 2 paywall

I’m not really sure what to say other than that I disagree with the vast majority of your objections, but I also don’t expect us to agree on anything, either. d:

Slag was basically essential once you got to UVHM, which is why so many people thought you had to use the Bee in UVHM.

Also, we have things like life steal being absolutely essential for most endgame builds, but it all comes down to the biggest issue with Bl 2, which is essentially the same issue Doom Eternal has, which is you have to be super-try-hard all the time or you don’t get to play.
Bl 1 was a great chillout game. You could play a less optimal build, or just go really hard on an OP build if you wanted to, or you could just chill and have fun. 2 really only had try-hard mode, so it felt like I was basically being spurned.

But, here’s the thing: Bl 2 still exists. You can just go and play that; we don’t need to turn Bl 3 into Bl 2 by flooding it with annoying raid bosses. Especially when you take things like the Craw DLC, where the normal, actually fun and playable version of the boss is a one-time story event and you have to play the raid version afterward, which means that unless you’re using a perfectly optimized build going in, you just don’t get to play that content any more.

I’m having trouble following what you mean by having level 50 players and level 60 - 80 enemies. Could you explain that a bit?
Honestly, I’ve always found level 50 too restrictive. You basically just wind-up filling out one tree, and if the capstone is too powerful, then you’d lose a ton of creativity and customization because you’d always want to get to the capstone, and that’d always be most of your points, so you’d have, like, as many builds as there are skill trees and that’s it.

lvl 50 players and lvl 60-80 enemies
like you failed rly hard

i wrote
you design the level / skill system around lvl 60-80 and give players lvl 50 as a start,
that means

right now the issue is, they design the games skill balance around release, which is lvl 50
they 100% do, they said several imes at the borderlands show and twitter that they still try to figure out to not give players skillpoints but increase the level cap

this leads to op / mayhem lvls and the un-natural scaling hat leads in all games so far to problems and make alot of gear worthless

now if the game is designed to give you skilltrees alot bigger and with more options to fine tune the individual build / tree so you finish with lvl 50 exactly 1 tree and dont start another
OR spec around
then they do not need to overscale everything without giving you power
then suddenly you do not have to deal with the horrible scaling of op lvls and mayhem

the need to find a way to give you power without giving you power is gone

this solves alot of issues because
-annointments can be nerfed and be part of skilltrees or smaller bonuses speak 10% vs 300% bonus
-you dont need slag to make the endgame even playable
-you dont need to re-balance the entire game due to mayhem since it would not exist in its current form
-you can put alot of smaller things into the tree while also making capstones stronger as a result, making the build diversity in the LONG run better

this same thing btw goes with enemy design
why is for example a godliath pretty much dumb?
because of the scaling issues
why was stackable bosses always an issue?
due to how the op scaling worked plus the low chance of spawning

most of bl issues boil down o a poor skill design

just to say it
IMAGINE this game had dropped with 4 trees at the beginning and it had kept mayhem 1.0 m4
the game would be at its best state

seperatly i want to say
personally i think a skilltree should be 4 skills wide

it should have 3 1 point capstones, currently we have 2 --1in the middle and 1 at the end
either you make it so you have more then 1 at the end and must choose 1 OR you give us 3 stages or give us a second option per tier ( capstone tier)

now with 4 skills wide and a bit deeper like 1 level deeper to reach the end 1 tree could add alot of variety to how it could work
augments are nice, buit augments could also just be annointments at this point or classmods… as classmods should be the augment

i think amara has it the best since and closest to what i think
her augments can be mixed as she wants
imagine putting them as skills into the trees with bonus effects

it might sound complicated, but rly it isnt
with this you reach the end of 1 tree by the end of the basic lvl experience
you alsio get to have more choices while lvling and skilling down the trees

i mean you could have some rly fun things to change how something in a character works
other games manage to do this, so its not a question of… is this too much work
its a question of
is gearbox willing to design their live service game in a way so it doesnt break 3 months later due to lvl increaes

OK; I’m not here to do this, “Moom, someone’s wrong on the internet!” thing, so can we just agree that we want entirely different things from this game and move on?
I just wanted to add another voice to the mix, not wind-up trading abusive 16 page diatribes like this.

OK, look buddy; if you want someone to really take the time to appreciate everything you’re saying, please:

  1. Spell your words correctly.
  2. Format your sentences correctly.
  3. Use proper paragraphs and not these random line breaks you like using.
  4. Don’t be overtly abusive and childish by saying things like, “Wow you failed rly hard…” because no-one’s going to keep reading if you open like that.

If you’re basically saying that Gearbox should plan the game, from the start, to be perfectly, or at least decently, balanced by the end of its life cycle, then you’re not understanding how game development works.
They would have to either A: plan out in perfect detail every last item, enemy, skill, map, and boss that was going to be in the entire lifetime of the game, and map out exactly how every permutation could possibly interact, which is impossible, or B: they’d have to be clairvoyant.
So, the balance is always going to evolve as new stuff gets added and players find new and crazy interactions. Some of those interactions will be weird, some will be OP, some will be too weak, and some will be in a good place. They need to constantly tweak and update to keep things in line, and you’re going to have outliers and stuff along the way.

Look, I’m tired and exhausted from work, today, and your poorly constructed sentences have been hell to try and decipher, so I apologize if I’m not fully grasping what you’re getting at, but you have to realize that I never directly attacked you. You’re the one who started in with the "rly"s and the "you failed"s so don’t go being all high and mighty on me.

Also, if you want people to take you seriously, please don’t go stating opinions as universal fact, like,

That opinion is definitely not universally shared. I’ve also Never heard anyone defend Mayhem 1.0 before, with its random limitations on what gear you could use?

You definitely need to look into why your system is crashing all the time. Might be a driver issue, might be an overheating problem? Not getting any of that on my end.

Look, I’m going to bed, and I’ve no interest in returning to this argument so you can save all of your blocked-out swearing and “failed rly hard” for other people who just want to voice their opinion, yeah? The forum’s telling me to stop replying to you, anyway.

I just want to make a point to any official people who might see threads like this to remember that the people who enjoy the game and like where it is are usually not the people on the forums making threads, so please don’t mistake the loud vocal minority for the majority voice.

So…anyone else got any light-hearted fun suggestions about what GBX should include in their mysterious sixth DLC?

Headhunter Packs!

At least one more mission/activity/secret boss/etc. per map for some of the maps that have been underutilized. For example, the huge area where the Carnivora monster truck drives around. And definitely more stuff on Athenas, maybe a few more maps, etc.

I suppose more Raid Bosses that use eridium to activate/unlock, including the one everybody keeps talking about behind that one door on Pandora.

I would honestly love to see a rewrite of the whole Ava/Maya/Lilith thing. Too much of what was released makes no sense and is demoralizing, heavily impacting the re-playability of the main game for me. But there are ways to end up in the same place (Maya dead, Lilith gone/dead and Ava “in charge”) without leaving the bulk of the narrative fans aggravated. Along those lines, if they could also redo the cut scenes where major plot directions occur while the VHs (us as characters) are powerless to do anything even though we are standing right there, that would be great.

Interject more missions with Torgue. He is a great character to listen to and watch.

Revise the Bounty of Blood narration to be one of the existing NPC characters. I am thinking either Marcus, because he is already established as the de facto BL storyteller, or maybe Clay. Clay could easily ask the VH to go investigate rumors of an old, secret production facility for Jakobs. He could then prompt the VH in terms of what missions to take, etc.

Uh… let’s see… lighthearted, lighthearted…

I would LOVE another Bunkers and Badasses DLC! That would be awesome.

I would actually like to see more Claptrap missions. I would also like to see his personality match closer to the one we see in the YouTube videos. I think that would make for hilarious background banter.

Otherwise I suppose more themed/seasonal events? Sorry, it is hard to concentrate on new things when there is so much that could have been done better with the core game.

the dlc’s in bl3 are okay but not great, as weakest was krieg one…best was either handsome jackpot or western one though wedding dlc better then krieg one in dlc but after doing all dlc in bl3 and the endgame got boring fast and found i could easily go back to playing bl2 and even the pre sequel as they have much better endgame content even with dlc’s etc.

OK, I thought of some more.

Radiant Quests from Quest Givers scattered about the planets (not just on Sanctuary) - examples include (but are not limited to) Bounties (with both existing and randomized mini-bosses), Big Game Hunts (with both existing and randomized enemy creatures), Area Clears (clear the such-and-such area of all bandits, Maliwan forces, Ratches, etc.), Treasure Hunts, Fetch/Delivery, Scavenger Hunts, Road Rallys, Easter Egg Hunts (not to be confused with Easter eggs as meta in-jokes, etc.).

Geocached secret missions, easter eggs (i.e. meta in-jokes), mini-bosses, treasure chest, etc. Something that makes you run around a planet(s) looking for clues that then lead you to something (preferably with a unique piece of gear). These could even be event based, and seasonally themed so that they show up only at certain times of the year. And if they could be randomized, then they could be repeatable without worrying about meta spoilers.

Convert the machine outside Earl’s shop into a version of a Dahl Grinder, but with Eridium.

Add a Corporate Tournament Event where each week is sponsored by a different Corporation and you rack up kills and other quantifiable metrics with their equipment. Scores can be per individual to see how you rank against others, but also universal tallies to see how each corporation fares. Winning Corporation gets something for a limited time (small bonus on all equipment, for example) or has increased drop rates for a limited time, or lower cost to purchase or whatever. And winners could be for individual categories (for example weapon types, or number of kills for a specific enemy type, etc.). The point is to have lots of metrics, have it span multiple worlds and get everyone involved. There could even be a real world tie-in to some charity.

BTW, where’s Athena? or the Watcher?? And of course we need MORE TORGUE!!!
Also might be cool to fight a rebuilt Nisha and Wilhelm. Plus more Tina Claptrap Mordachi and Brick.
As much as Lilith annoyed me in BL3, might be cool to have a space mission on a broken Elpis after receiving a transmission from her. And Ava can tragically die by… um… a mutant ratch or…something…

I would actually love to see a full DLC campaign on Elpis, with or without Lilith. Maybe Marcus could be the main driver, looking to collect on caches of weapons and using Claptrap for some boots on ground coverage (and maybe Torgue as well). We could then find Athena (and maybe the Watcher) there as we adventure around. The B-Team could even make an appearance.

In fact, maybe Torgue and Marcus are racing each other to collect on the caches with the VH caught in-between…? And maybe Athena and the Watcher are there trying to work through some rogue Guardian thing that ties in with the lore BL3 seems to be hinting at…? Lots of cool possibilities (IMO).

In any event, Skywell-27 was fun with low gravity and all, but I really miss Oz Kits coupled with Low-G and Jump Pads!

I feel you on this. I’m loving your ideas btw. Even 50% of that would be worth the admission price.

Fill your empty worlds GBX!!

for content i just want another Circle of Slaughter with mixed/randomized spawns, maybe a little bigger and with more verticality than the existing CoS maps. BL3 is most fun when you’re running around and shooting things but a lot of the endgame, repeatable content have fixed spawns which makes them a bit predictable over time.

would also like more, WAY MORE interaction between Vault Hunters when you’re in multiplayer. I know that Amara has some with the other VHs but every other combination is silent  The in-game callouts add so much to the overall feel of the game, it would be great if they were expanded some more.

A raid boss not attached to a Takedown map would be nice. I didn’t like all of the raid bosses from previous games, but it does feel like something is missing by not having at least one.

I remember reading an interview a few years back with one of the developers who was in charge of the Skags in Firestone. Someone in GBX management made a comment about the amount of Skags (assuming that there were too many) and the developer said (paraphrasing here because I do not recall the exact words) “You’re right, there aren’t enough!” So he went on to create Skag Gully to explain why there were skags roaming around in and near Fyrestone in the first place.

I think some of the issues BL3 is having is that there isn’t enough - not enough activity in some areas, not enough wise-ass Claptrap (from the you tube videos), not enough NPC interjection in DLC’s, etc. I am not by any stretch suggesting that this condition is tied to all of BL3’s current issues, just some of them, and that in those cases, maybe more of whatever might at first blush seem like something that needs to be reduced or eliminated is actually something that there needs to be more of. More Raid Bosses. More control over Mayhem Modifiers. More control over how anointments get attached to equipment. More Vault Hunters, etc.

Just another way of looking at some of the current challenges the game has.

Great ideas! I sometimes wish they at least stole our ideas to make the game better( sorta joking, you should be paid)
I think the Torgue/Marcus idea is solid!!!

Is Gearbox hiring writers?? Positive creativity is what this game NEEDS

They have my handle. They know how to find me…

Oh, while I think of it I had also created a whole thread on thoughts to improve upon Arms Race, FYI:
