Disappointed in all new skill trees so far

I think IC is almost apart of the tree, as Gearbox meant to give us a skill tree to support some play styles like piloting while also give us a way to proc ASA anoints.

One thing I am thinking about is the elemental nova on crit with the new elemental boosts.

Fair enough, but still excited to see what the tree can do in practice.

FITSD and a low level CMT, and you are golden on some dots while you kill everything else. IC and Target softening should work too

I’m disappointed because Bear Mother was a bandaid remedy to opinions of the community. The ā€œAction Skill Activeā€ anoint was not useable by Moze due to bear having his own dedicated anoints.
This is not a new tree, its a remedy tree to things that IMO weren’t an issue.

If you’re going to play the Gunner, learn the Gunner… Don’t come in here chopping and changing what was a unique BL class into a streamline. I have to pay for a skill tree that was manipulated by opinions I didn’t agree with.

Highly disappointed at the folding of the developers - Moze could have had an epic skill tree that contained a new device instead of a reused and cheaply implemented asset.

They were definitely an issue; sure, there are iron bear anoints, but most of them have poor synergy with moze’s main source of damage (fitsd, which is also a problem but one that the devs will have to sort out on their own while keeping moze viable), and it’s still highly limiting.

Like, fl4k and amara can use all their specialized anoints, and any global anoint they feel like. Even zane CAN, even if it’s not ideal.

well, i guess a salamander bild could be cool now

They know it stacks. It even says as much on one of the reveal pages for the skills. I can’t remember exactly but they basically said the point of the skill was to get crazy chains of damage

If they know then why is the damage bonus that high? I mean simple testing would have shown that you can maintain 20 stacks with ease, which is already 400% gun damage. And with many configurations you can easily maintain 40+ stacks, which is just ridiculous. The cooldown isn’t really the problem, but the damage is overkill for a tier 2 skill.

I hope that they give it a cap of 20 stacks. 10 would already be enough to make the skill great, but let’s be generous. Or they need to massively nerf the damage bonus, but that would make the skill extremely ā€œmeh-feelingā€ for some. Alternatively they could give the skill an internal proccing cooldown of 0,5 - 1,0 seconds or so to prevent quick stacking with Seein’ Dead. But if they want us to stack a bunch, then lowering the gun damage bonus would be the better option. At 7,5% gun damage per stack it would still be noticeable pretty quickly and the cooldown bonus could remain as it is, but you couldn’t realistically stack up a 1000% gun damage anymore.

I don’t get why people are upset. Throughout the last year people were asking for the ability to have Iron Bear trigger and fight beside you instead of getting inside. GB gave people what they wanted, and they’re still complaining? Fire skills fit nicely with the rest of her trees. It’s what I would have suggested.

Overall, it feels like a nice expansion on who she already is. If it turns out anything needs buffing/nerfing then I’m sure they’ll do that. We know the stream team have been giving lots of feedback so what we’ve seen may yet change before Nov 10th.

I think burnout might be an issue for some of us here. Many of us have been playing this game exclusively for a year and we’re constantly face to face with the issues. It can become very easy to focus more on those than on how the game is expanding and improving. For me, though, whenever I step back and see what Gearbox has done I’m reminded of why I play the game. Mayhem scaling, sorting the anointment pool, spreading the loot drops, balancing the characters (Moze got a nice treatment and now they’re onto Zane), constantly buffing weapons and now class mods, fixing countless issues in the game, the list goes on and on. Sure, there’s still plenty to sort but we’ve seen they listen and they sort things even when it takes longer than we’d like.

What we really need now is something as replayable as the Maliwan Takedown and the Slaughter Shaft. Will Arms Race be that thing? I guess we’ll see on Thursday.

I’m mainly disappointed because it feels like this game has lost its borderlands x factor of sorts, its soul almost. And the grind was actually worth the time in the past games,it felt real badass too especially in borderlands 2. I really wanted to love this game but I really dont and I think I’m over it,sorry gbx

More like get 1000% DMG for just using reflux or redistribute?

Ah yes. What worth the time most leggos were wreaker than purples most seraphs and pearls were garbage. What grind was worth it read only farming sandhawk? Gimme a break

They wanted to give other class mods a chance but now if they leave it (Commitment) as is, Seein’ Dead is still going to be used 99% of the time.
This is just stupid.

Well said!

From the way the skill description is written, I’m not sure it’s supposed to stack infinitely. Phalanx Doctrine can and it’s written into the description for that one.

From the way the skill description is written it is NOT supposed to stack AT ALL

Exactly. It’s probably just an oversight they’ll fix before launch. I’m glad they have streamers testing stuff and feeding back before they launch to the public now.

Fire skills fit her as she is flooded with them already which is super annoying^^
But that I kinda expected
But having 5-6 skills in a tree that all trigger from the same thing (applying status effect)
She doesn’t even have that much splash damage triggers
Not even amara got this on the red tree
It’s just sooooo uncreative and lazy and boring to read through and think of a build ā€œwell, guess I’ll just play with elemental weapons, that’s itā€

Problem is, some streamers take this for granted it looks like, instead of being objective to what is right and wrong.
As much as I would like Zane to not rely on his super movement speed just for more precision shooting (Especially since I’m a Jakobs main), we already have more options with the new skill tree, with several multipliers (Crit / Eraser / Capstone / No Way Out augment) + some damage from the action skill itself + Man of War has a stacking bonus that is VERY nice (15% * 10 = 150% weapon damage) even though it’s for the next shot after stacking, combine that with Cold Bore, Executor (or other class mods, perhaps new class mod is gonna be something really nice too), also the ability to use both ASE’s and ASA’s on the fly, being able to use Violent Momentum bonuses anyway since you’re probably always going blue tree, how much more do you want in terms of damage? There really is no need.
Also forgot that having Man of Focus skill at least for me leaves space for more damage optimizations elsewhere. And personally I might be switching between Executor and Hustler this time around (Hustler for bosses/enemies with no crit spots) and also Holy Crit for what it’s worth :stuck_out_tongue:
I know GBX is crazy and something is going on out there with how they are treating the game atm (They went in a completely different direction from BL2 that’s for sure, in terms of balance) and I don’t think it’s right but I’ve submitted bug reports to them just to make sure that these streamers are not too subjective on a game that will get boring fast (I’m already barely playing it compared to what I used to, because of the balance) and anyway, I gave them an idea, if they’re not gonna fix the unlimited stacking, at least make sense out of it so it becomes crit kill skill so it doesn’t get broken by Seein’ Dead and leaves space for other COMs usage. We’ll see how it goes.

I am a Moze main.
I was expecting her 4th skill tree.
After seeing the showcase of her new tree, I am disappointed.
Her new tree is just BORING. (compared to Zane and Amara)

Focusing on status effect? No Thanks.

Iron Cub? Yes he is cute.
Just a smaller version of Iron bear. Not creative.

Also, why Moze always focusing on Fire/incendiary damage?

And her capstone is kinda weak. (Amara’s capstone is powerful)

Moze already has the worst action skill since launch. (Yes I am talking about Iron Bear)
I was expecting her 4th skill tree.
Now you give me this, Gearbox?
Her new skill tree is still the worst amongst all four characters.

Well Status Effects are easier to activate skills than kill skills (Even though their balance makes kill skills faster than Status Effects, but ok)
Iron Cub doesn’t look to me too much like Iron Bear, I mean it is, but still more different than just a smaller version.
Moze is focusing on Fire/Incendiary because… uhm, Gunner, that fire in fire arms, ya know…
People need to understand that Iron Cub is to allow Moze to be Moze rather than more Iron Bear.
I don’t agree with you that new skill tree for Moze is bad, especially considering she can do 150% Grenade Damage ASA and she has a few decent augs on IC and allows for IC to get some aggro and do some damage to help you around, also, Flare works on Moze.

Amara’s capstone is a kill skill which balances it out, but yes, Amara is rather powerful in general because of elements and how they work in Borderlands in general.
But if you look at what Iron Bear does atm, you will see that Iron Bear doesn’t even need element matching to kill things, so where’s the comparison?
