A human beastmaster would still be using animals. Why would humans be discriminating in regards of what kind of organic life form is OK as a pet and what isn’t, but bots wouldn’t discriminate against those machines that they deem less advanced?

Besides, the loader would probably not be sentient as sentience is considered an undesirable bug when it comes to loaders.

It takes away from the original flavour of the character imho.
The fascinating thing about Fl4k when I watched the trailers the first time was this mix between the fact that they are a modern robot, associated to the ancient concept of an old fashioned hunter that has organic pets at his side.
A robot pet is meh…

If they wanted to go down this route, then why didn’t they use the Maliwan hounds? Granted he already has Mr.Chew, but this would have fallen much more in line.

I’ve seen the Threshers and Stalkers mentioned which would have made way more sense to me. Now I imagine since we don’t already have something like that in the game to piggyback off of they would be harder to implement, but a Loader really is meh…

I also want to throw a baby Drifter or a Scythid as possible options since I haven’t seen them mentioned.

i wouldve also loved bully mong (or boner fart), ratch (eating fallen enemies to restore fl4k and the pets health), a drifter from bl1 one or hammerlock DLC in bl2 (that could stab enemies with its legs and deal heavy damage and maybe let fl4k sit on them or something), almost any necrobug, or even a Crystalisk (using CC stomps to make enemies miss shots and it’d be harder to hit and kill which would help a very badly needed tank tree).

anyone can be a beast master (or tamer) but being a beast master you expect beasts. thats like gaige the mechromancer getting a skill for an ordinary cat. it has nothing to do with mechs. or like if roland or axton got something random thats not turret or solider related like a cotton candy cart. it just doesnt fit

the issue isnt that theyre also a robot the issue is their role is BEAST master.
if theyre class was companion chief then it’d be fine.

keyword BEAST master not bot master

if they were a slave master then it’d fit their style but someone who literally gets bonuses for taming a beast but bots dont count and get penalized like human enemies. it literally goes against their role/class style.

I also do not like this pick for a new pet. I mean he is a BEASTmaster not an inventor/hacker. With this bot he is basically a watered down Gaige and I also have no clue why he couldn’t get something more original if it was going to be a robot than a Loaderbot.

I just hope he continues to shoot while using Gamma Burst unlike the monkey. The whole point of using the monkey is because it shoots stuff for me and can shoot enemies far away and flying enemies. I have no clue why they made it so that during Gamma Burst he loses his guns and wants to melee everything when the original incarnation is a shooter! I hope a Gamma Burst loaderbot turns into a Badass Bot that still keeps his guns.

And the action skill is just a replica of Amara’s Ties that Bind yet they keep trying to nerf that Amara ability so idk what they were going for there either. Man I’m just disappointed all around.

It could have at least been one of the mechanical hounds Maliwan uses lmao. Using a loader bot pet gives off a strange slavery vibe for me. We have had quest giver loaders in the past that are clearly sentient…

i mean dont forget loader bot from tell tale. but honestly that doesnt bother me as much as it being mechanical. other creatures are sentient too. not super intelligent but sentient none the less

i wouldnt have liked that either honestly.

Meh does it matter what kind of pet they get? Fl4k has alot of problems pet wise that needs addressing, I’m more worried about that then the new loader bot which will just be insignificant with the other pets if not corrected. Currently Fl4k is the worse character in the game that realizes on an AI to help them. Zane with his clone and moze with autobear being so high above the “beastmaster” that its literally ridiculous.

I’m actually expecting the loaders to be busted compared to the other pets. You can already see that the values on their passives are 3-5x higher than the other pets. I’d bet that their damage is going to be way higher at base, and that they won’t melee in gamma.

It could go either way, but I can imagine this pet being the only one that ever gets dev love.

Random but calling it now: Iron Cub won’t have hardpoints. It’ll just have little vladof guns you can’t change and the augments will just be flat duration and damage like FL4K’s pet gets.

Yea easier to make a new strong pet then probably deal with the mess that is Fl4k’s other pets. Either way best keep expectations low remember what happened with Tr4iner.

Pets haven’t gotten any buffs since M4 (November of last year). Just bug fixes and scaling. Of course, new bugs have also been introduced that have gutted some of them so that’s cool…
