Do Applied Slows Ignore Gear Buffs?

I was playing Pendles the other day and decided to go with a loadout entirely speed based. Boots with extra movement speed on melee hit, sprint speed as a secondary effect on my 2nd piece, and of course Go-Go Juice for my 3rd.

However, I noticed that if I was full out sprinting, when I got hit by a Thumper AoE or got caught in an Accellerator, the speed reduction was WAY WAY WAY more than 30%. It’s as if the gear’s positive effects were completely ignored and my speed was SET to -30% of my movement speed. After the +10% moveent speed and +27% Sprint Speed provided by my gear (and in stealth - Pendles), I should not be dragged down to such a low movement speed. It felt like a 60% speed nerf.

It’s VERY easy to test as a dev. Slap on movement & sprint gear (esp, Go-Go Juice), play an Incursion map. Activate the gear while in base & when the match starts, tail it to the first Accellerator at the enemy base (you’ll get there before the other team does…). It’s VERY noticable.

What I think is happening from a programming standpoint is that the movement speed is being reduced without taking into account of all the Sprint Speed that is being applied by the gear.

Base Movement: 100 units
Pendles Movement in Stealth: 120 units
Gear Movement: 10% = 12 units
Pendles Total Stealth Movement: 132 units (32% faster than normal movement)

Base Sprint Modifier: 50% = 50 units
Pendles Sprint in Stealth: 66 units (50% of 132)
Gear Bonus (27% of 100): 27 units
Pendles Total Sprint Movement (geared): 120 + 66 + 27 = 213 units (113% faster than normal movement)

Accellerator / Thumper / General Slow Effect = 30%
Base Movement Cost: 70% (100 - 30)
Pendles Geared Stealth Movement Cost: ~40 units
Pendles Geared Stealth Sprint while AFFECTED BY SLOW:

  • Affected Base: 92 (132 - 40)
  • Affected Sprint: 149 (213 * 70%)
*** The resulted SPRINT for Pendles under a 30% slow effect should just be 30% of his Sprint Speed => 149, which is still 49% higher than regular movement ***

This is why I think the math is messed up in how slows are calculated. If my gear cannot overcome the effects of a slow debuf, then the slow debuf is WAY OVERPOWERED.

I’m pretty sure it kills you base and your sprint is multiplied off of what ever your base is at that time.

So naturally you move slow.
