Well for a start because he’s got a great big gun turret and is trying to use it to disable ME!
I remember once we knocked him out of his seat and he just sat there in that really strange pose halfway through the floor.
…
good story bill
I hate One-Eyed Jack with a flaming passion, at least when he appears in the Underdome. That stupid revolver wastes me from across the map…somehow. Baron Flynt is the only one who’s worse.
all this Krom talk reminds me of this one time - playing with low gravity in the .ini files yielded this…note his little house in the upper left:
really? i find Flynt fairly easy as long as you don’t let him get close, that gun has no accuracy
btw i just went and ran Jack over just for the hell of it
EDIT: and when i look at that pic i can just hear Krom shouting all his rubbish
I have an extremely easy time fighting Mad Mel regardless of Playthrough.
I use this strategy (Came up with it myself but I won’t say it’s original):
1: Spawn a vehicle near the arena’s drop point.
2: Remove your equipped grenade mod.
3: Drive your vehicle into the arena and once the enemies spawn, drive the vehicle back to the ledge you came from and quickly exit the vehicle.
4: Use your vehicle as a shield to avoid enemy attacks as you grenade jump out of the arena.
5: Gun them down from a (relatively) safe place. (Psycho Buzzaxes have INCREDIBLY high accuracy).
don’t we know it…
good strategy!
Seems like he always spawns with the super-speed modifier (Spastic?) for me. There goes 15 rounds of Underdome
I’ll be honest.
The One-Eyed Jack fight slipped my mind until I read this thread.
I’d forgotten how much I loved it. It kind of put me in a loop, since playing as Brick, my first instinct was always to rush the opponent and punch them til they’re dead.
Honestly, it is such a simple recipe but translates so beautifully. I really wished that more opponents in the BL franchise would pan out like the OEJ fight does. There isn’t anything particularly special about him, but mix of the terrain and the fact that his gun is rather unique in it’s function, means that he becomes hell to operate against.
I ended up waiting for him to go on the defensive and rushing at him by going Berserk then going back in to cover, allowing my health to regenerate between rushes. Once I got close enough, it was a simple matter of strafing.
So true, One Eyed Jack to me makes a much better and thought provoking fight than Captain Flynt and Deadlift combined.
I’ve never fancied being Brick anyway but yeah the thought of having to get close to do damage isn’t a pleasant one - that gun must take you apart…
Brick (I’d say like Krieg) is definitely as far off from your usual FPS style as you can get in this game. I can definitely see why plenty of people avoid it as it seems to take some of the gunplay out of gunplay, but not enough can be said about punching some one until they explode, or having the brilliance of setting one’s buzzaxe ablaze while it is strapped with dynamite.
One-Eyed Jack still suffers from the “bandit-strafe” and has a semi-predictable moving pattern. As my health would regen from the first shot, I’d run and get cover. Brick’s natural Rocket Abilities do the rest.
