Does no one hear or see the pinging?!?

The horror…the horror…

I’ve been playing this game since it came out, and I don’t even know what a ping is…

There is literally another active thread right now on the forum about pinging.

The REAL problem with pinging or the game in general is that a majority of people aren’t looking at the effing map in the corner of their screen. When you ping something, it shows up on the map. If you don’t know that, then you are part of the problem. I go after double thralls and I watch the map for struggling team members. Most people don’t. I ping to get assistance only with double thralls. Nobody ever shows up.

stop it. I hope you are messing around.

Those are effective only if people are paying attention to who got pinged. If we are in the middle of the map and someone is almost dead, I don’t bother because nobody will be paying attention to it.

So pinging causes something to happen on the little map? Is there an audial cue? I know that sometimes Nova will warn that the sentry in under attack, and the century will blink, but it is inconsistent and often wrong. Is this the result of someone pinging? I often find it difficult to give the little map more than a quick glance, and then I am looking for where the red circles are located. I find that a microphone works best for alerting teammates.

Yes, a yellow marker appears and there is an audible “PING!” sound fx. It may be hard to hear depending on what is happening to your character at that moment, and your audio settings, but it is there.

What has helped me out with knowing where the ping is located is switching the way my mini map looks. Instead of having it be zoomed in where you only see a small section of it I have it show the full map. If we are on tonight at the same time ill help ya out with changing it if you want.

Right clicking the thumb stick will ping a location on the map and create a “ping” sound and create an indicator on the mini map. Most people don’t use their mics so it’s something to create an alert for others to draw their attention. You should use the map more. It can help you find out matched teammates and such.

I have never noticed that! Either it is turned off, although I don’t remember ever changing it, or the music and sound effects are drowning it out.

It’s tough in the middle of a firefight! Especially with the unfortunate introduction of Pendles, I need to concentrate on and observe my surroundings more than ever. Hmmm, does a cloaked Pendles show up on the map?

I didn’t know you could do that. The only option I have seen is whether the map rotates or not.

Because people spam them all the time. Is it possible to mute them? Seriously.

Also, in PVP modes, I find them pretty useless. Capture, for example.

Not unless he’s attacking, like any of the enemies. You don’t need to stare at the map. Just be aware.

Enemies actually don’t show up on the map unless they revealed or in LoS to, not just anyone. Battleborn. Doesn’t matter if he’s face checking your sentry, if no bb are nearby, you won’t see him.

I think we need to face the fact that there is only one of us who actually exists and everyone else is a figment of our imagination.

When you think of it that way it’s you’re own fault that no one is reacting to your ping, because you should simply imagine they are.

Git gud at imagination.

@lostkrouu

My friend, could you do us all a solid and post here as to how you adjust your minimap view?

From lobby go to options/gameplay/match map display styles to mini map only. That’s how I have mine setup

Looks like there is a problem of mic comatitbilty with this game… me and some others players i met, can’t use their mic on Battleborn but works well on others games/software…

i would like to talk, but i can’t without a teamspeak/discord

About the ping, there is still the bug of not working ping… how many time did i try to ping in a fight to spot a low health players but nothing happen… no ping

That’s hard to believe my friend…I have a $10 mic/headset from Walmart that works perfectly fine. Many folks I play with are using cheap ass cell phone earbud/mics with no issue.
