Dragon Age: Inquisition

For the first half of the game, Bull was kinda weak until after Skyhold, when his specialization opened up. Early on, he’d be chugging potions, so I opted to use Blackwall. The Champion path makes Blackwall insane. I’ve have Cassandra go down in a dragon fight before but Blackwall never has.

Cole is ridiculously fragile. The boy needs to learn how to vis and flank lol.

Our last dragon fight went surprisingly well. Thankfully, there were no baby dragons. Cassandra kept the dragon away from us tasty ranged attackers. On my first playthrough, Varric had a bad habit of running in and shooting. I’m glad that Sera isn’t like that lol.

Dorian is my potion chugger. I’ve set it up where he doesn’t do that anymore. I actually don’t know how to fix Cole, unless I’m playing as him. The battle mapping and the tactics have to take some getting use to. They aren’t like the ones in Origins.

I really wish they’d left the origins tactics in this one. It’d be so much easier. And not limiting potions to 12 either…

I remember soloing Flemeth as Leliana with nothing but a bow and potions lol. This was my first encounter with her, and before I learned how to set up tactics properly. Entire group gets wiped in like 5 minutes, and I’m like “Oh…sh*t…” After that, I’d spend like 30 minutes preparing everyone’s tactics/potion consumption. Smooth like buttah. Alistair tanking, Wynne healing, Leliana and me using bows. Us 3 would hold position behind the mailbox (or whatever it was) to prevent being pulled into melee range. Alistair being a beast taking the hits. No one gets downed. Good times. I miss that system.

Pfft, you used Shale in any dragon fight. She was my rock throughout the first one.

I didn’t have any of the dlc. Just the base game.

Shame, Shale was an awesome character.

I’m really digging Knight-Enchanter. One dumbass made the mistake of trying to melee me. That magic lightsaber made short work lol.

That’s what I’m telling you whenever Vivienne was cornered by whatever, a Wyvern or stray knights that passed me and Bull, it was like, “Well, they’re ■■■■■■.” And Giants. That “lightsaber” is awesome against Giants.

Knight-Enchanter continues to impress. Just effortlessly stood toe to toe with a dragon, with no worries, hacking away with that lightsaber. The more damage I did, the more it refilled my barrier.

Afterwards, went to close the last rift in the area, without paying attention to the level of enemies it spawned. (It was level 20, I was 17.) Out spawned like 3 despair demons and a handful of others. Party goes down after like a minute and I’m still standing, full barrier, massacring demons.

This may rival Champion in terms of tankiness lol.

I thought so. And now that I’m ready, the chance I get to play Dragon Age again. (I beat Corypheus today. I almost had a heart attack when Morrigan fell from dragon form to the ground with that blood splat. I believe my exact words were, “■■■■■■■ HELL.” The chance I get to play again… I uhh I’m going to start a Knight Enchanter. I’m going to totally romance Dorian as well, so male Knight Enchanter character. I need to find a male name.

Not sure if I’m going to bother with a warrior playthrough. I’d like to see the different dialogue options for both qunari and dwarf, but don’t think I can play through it a third time.

Might just take a break when I’m done and come back to it at a later time. I still want to romance Josie, so we’ll see…

Oh, Scribbles. I would definitely say that relationship is more emotional then physical. It was very reminiscent of dating Liara in the Mass Effect series which was my LI in Mass Effect.

Even though I have made Dwarven characters, I’m an elf. So… yeah probably not going to happen. I have yet to find a Qunari design within the game I’m happy with. The horn choices are disappointing and the voices. That was kind of my only downside to the game, the character creation choices were very limited. The tattoos, the scarring and the voices, only two choices for each sex… so you have a Ferelden sounding voice and a Orlais sounding voice… for each sex. Not each race… ugh. The last mage I created was an Elven Blood Mage and she was deliciously fun in Origins. I had a Force Mage Hawke but she didn’t make it after I decided to have one character per game. (with every game, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Destiny etc.)

But Knight Enchanter has tickled my fancy. And I’ve wanted to romance Dorian for a while.

Yeah, I was very disappointed by the voice options. It’s either generic American or a soft, British accent. If I’m an 8 foot tall, horned, mountain of a man, he’d better have a deep voice.

I agree, you couldn’t nab Steven Blum and have him voice one of the Dwarven Male voices? You have a ton of talent just sitting in the pool and yeah… they definitely went the cheap route doing the voices. The only time you’ll see me complain about Dragon Age is in the character creation and maybe the fact that it’s overwhelming at first. When I passed that one quest, The Destruction of Haven one. I still had like the Storm Coast to explore, I was met afterwards with a TON of quests to do and it seemed a bit I don’t know, daunting?

I do like the size of the game though although, they could’ve went further I think. Instead of just having Ferelden and Orlais to explore, where was Nevarra? Where was Antiva? And where the bloody hell was the Anderfells? I’ve wanted to go to Weisshaupt Fortress since the first one. Give me that in DLC. More areas to explore and definitely more dragons to kill. Me and Bull need more ale.

Yeah, after Skyhold opens up, you’re bombarded with like 50 quests. I’m not a fan of the desert regions or the exalted plains. I don’t mind the emerald graves. Did you find the unmarked “Treasure” quest there, with the doll?

I’m pretty sure I’ve done every quest in the game especially with the Emerald Graves. So after beating it what I want to see out of DLC. Here is a short wishlist of things.

  1. Hair dresser, Character Redesigner - I’m pretty sure Bioware can come up with an Orlais hair dresser character to put within Skyhold. It would kind of be like Skyrim, you pay 1,000 gold for him or her to change your character around.
  2. More multiplayer maps and better servers - I found the multiplayer servers to be laggy, more mission types and more maps. You have that big map on the main website, throw a dagger at a city and start creating a map.
  3. Morrigan, Leliana and Cullen to be party members. They all have tarot cards, use them for ■■■■ sake. I would love to see Cullen in full armor with his bear helmet.
  4. More customization for your room in Skyhold. The ability to have a bard inside your room at all times would be pretty sweet. Have him/her sing in the balcony area.
  5. More dragon fights. I loved how epic these fights were.
  6. More areas to explore. The Arbor Wilds should have been made available to explore after the Templar mission. And then there is other states we could’ve visited as mentioned before.
  7. More custom weapon and armor designs. One of the coolest features in the game was the ability to make and customize your own weapons. I would like for them to bring up some old school as well as new designs that are only available through custom making your own gear.
  8. More strongholds to capture on maps. One of the coolest features I haven’t talked about is taking back castles and strongholds throughout maps. Like the one in the Western Approach where you can create another hub outside of small camps and Skyhold.
  9. Your multiplayer characters actually appearing in Skyhold. I think this would be a cool idea, have your multiplayer characters show up in Skyhold while you’re on your main character. Whatever active multiplayer character you have will show up and offer you advice or just chit chat with your main. Making the bond between agent and inquisitor greater. Mine would be the Necromancer.
  10. More deployable missions on the War Table. Instead of having like Leliana go out and do something, you go with them. So like if the Chargers for instance go out to clean something up, you can take Bull and go with them cleaning up a fortress or something. This ties into the whole Stronghold Capture idea in idea 8.

Another issue with character creation is the lack of different hair styles. They literally use the same options for both make and female. Eyebrows too. There’s really only a handful of options that actually look decent.

I’ve found another thing that irritates me, mainly in exalted plains, is the wonky jumping mechanics when trying to reach a shard up on a high spot. It’s like you have a jump at a certain spot at a certain angle or you’ll slide right back off.

I’ve never played multiplayer. No internet.

For the most part, I make my own gear, unless it’s a decent rare.

Yeah… pretty much that’s the biggest flaw of the game. I mean if you are going to play through it three times like they want you too, you are going need more options than what we have right now. Even in terms of romance… I mean all we got from David Gaider was “EVERYBODY IS ROMANCEABLE” if I could find the tweet, I would… and well yeah, why isn’t everyone romancable. I honestly wanted to romance Scout Harding…might have been the whole “Ali Hillis” thing, love her voice and she was Liara, again. Familiarity is what I like but nope. You could flirt with her all day but nothing. It teased relationships, again much like the Mass Effect world.

Yeah, as a straight male character, I have two options: Cassandra or Josie. Why not make Sera bi…? Or at least give me Leliana back lol. (sigh) I love me some redheads.

The romances were one of the main reasons I played through mass effect so much. Inquisition felt very limited to me in that regard.

I’ve also been using Cole more and his way of speaking reminds me a lot of Thane. Ironic that they’re both assassins, too. I enjoy his banter with Dorian.
